ASUS FonePad ships April 26th in the UK, up for pre-order now

ASUS FonePad ships April 26th in the UK, up for preorder now

Back when ASUS first introduced that unorthodox FonePad to the masses at MWC, the Taiwanese company said the 7-inch device would be arriving in the European market at some point in March. Fast forward to today — a couple of weeks late, no less — and ASUS has announced that those in the United Kingdom can now start making pre-orders, with the Jelly Bean-loaded phone / tablet hybrid expected to ship on April 26th. Just as we’d heard in Barcelona, the FonePad’s set to come with a £179.99 price tag, which, in return, gives folks a decent 1,280 x 800 IPS screen, an Atom Z2420 1.2GHz chip with 1GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage and a 4,270mAh battery — plus, of course, the HSPA+ radio to boot. Online stores like Carphone Warehouse and Amazon are all set to take your money, just make sure you also buy some jeans with big pockets, because you’ll certainly need a pair if you plan to use the PadFone FonePad to make calls in grandiose fashion.

ASUS Confirms FonePad Release Date And Pricing

ASUS Confirms FonePad Release Date And PricingBack in February earlier this year, the ASUS FonePad was announced and we even managed to do a hands-on preview of the device. If you like what you saw and you don’t agree with the naysayers that the device is a bit ridiculous in terms of its size as a phone, you might be interested to learn that ASUS has announced that the FonePad will be available for pre-order on the 12th of April, and will see a release on the 26th. According to the release dates and the locations from which you can order the device, this seems to be limited to UK retailers, such as Carphone Warhouse, Amazon UK and Sainsbury’s and will cost £179.99 for the 16GB version.

However we can only assume that with its UK release coming up that a US release should follow shortly, if not at the same time. For those who might have forgotten, here’s what you can expect to get for your money. The ASUS FonePad will feature a 7” 1280×800 display with a 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2420 processor under the hood. It will be accompanied by 16GB of storage, microSD and micro SIM slots, a 1.2MP front-camera, a 4,270mAh battery and will run Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, although it seems that ASUS is planning to roll out Android 4.2 Jelly Bean as soon as possible.

Intel-Powered Asus Fonepad 3G Confirmed

Intel Powered Asus Fonepad 3G ConfirmedThe first Intel-powered tablet manufactured by Asus is well on its way, where it will be known as the Asus Fonepad. The Asus Fonepad is not new to news channels, but at least another leaf of confirmation has dropped from the grapevine thanks to the Global Certification Forum, meaning it will really be known as the Asus Fonepad when it finally hits the market. The thing is, the Global Certification Forum has also named it the ME371MG if model numbers are your cup of tea, where it will boast of 3G connectivity to boot. For folks who have had their hopes up for LTE, you can forget about it, at least in this particular model that was examined by the GCF.

The Asus Fonepad will be powered by a version of Android Jelly Bean, with a 1.2GHz Intel processor and PowerVR SGX540 graphics chipset, keeping the 7-inch IPS display at 1280 x 800 resolution company, in addition to a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera, a 3-megapixel shooter at the back, 1GB RAM, a microSD memory card slot, and a choice of 8GB, 16GB or 32GB of internal memory.

Full Asus Fonepad Specs Leaked

Full Asus Fonepad Specs LeakedYes, the Asus Fonepad has gotten under the limelight in recent memory, first being called the K004, followed by the possibility of it being announced at the upcoming Mobile World Congress event that is set to happen at the end of this month in Barcelona, Spain. Rumors of an Intel processor powering the Asus Fonepad has been confirmed with new information from, of all places, Bulgaria, as full specifications of the Fonepad was released, with a shot that you see on the right depicting the lower segment of its back. You will be able to see the all too familiar ‘Intel Inside’ logo.

As for the rest of its hardware specifications, we are looking at a 7-inch 1,280×800 IPS touchscreen display, a 1.2GHz Intel Z2420 processor with PowerVR SGX540 graphics, a 3-megapixel shooter at the back, a front-facing 1.2-megapixel camera, 1GB RAM, a choice of 8GB, 16GB or 32GB internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, and a beefy 4,270mAh battery to kep it going, with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice. Expect the Asus Fonepad to go on sale sometime in the second quarter of this year.

Asus Fonepad To Debut At MWC 2013?

Asus Fonepad To Debut At MWC 2013?It seems that Asustek, or Asus for short, will be taking the opportunity to announce their upcoming 7-inch tablet known as the Fonepad at Mobile World Congress that is happening later this month in Barcelona, Spain. Well, just what kind of features and functions does the Asus Fonepad bring to the table? This 7-inch tablet will run on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system right out of the box, and it will also come with voice communication functions to boot.

Some of the other hardware specifications will include an Intel Atom Z242 processor, an IPS touchscreen display at 1,280 x 800 resolution, 16GB RAM and 1GB ROM, a 3-megapixel camera at the back, as well as connectivity options such as 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, not to mention GPS support to help you find your way around in unfamiliar territory. So far, initial impressions point to a price tag that hovers between the $270 and $300 mark after conversion, which would surely allow Asus to position the Fonepad as a Nexus 7 and MeMo Pad rival.

ASUS FonePad reaches certification, may meld an Atom tablet with Android

ASUS FonePad tablet pops up in certification, may meld Atom with Android

No, not PadFone. FonePad. According to Indonesia’s wireless regulator Postel, ASUS is trying to certify a FonePad K004 tablet that would switch up device names, not to mention create its fair share of mix-ups. But what is it? Based on that K004 codename and a match with a Thai retailer’s listing, Notebook Italia believes it’s none other than the recently leaked ME371MG, an Atom Z2420-based, 7-inch tablet that would run Jelly Bean. It might also carry 3G and justify its name through built-in phone functionality. We’re skeptical when the specs aren’t confirmed, and don’t entirely line up — there’s just 8GB of space in the retail entry versus the originally claimed 16GB, as an example. If there’s any fuel to the fire, however, the new round of MeMo Pads will eventually have some Intel-powered (if confusingly-named) company.
