These Harry Potter Stilettos Look Enchanting

If you love something, wear it. There’s a reason why shirts, sweaters, skirts, caps, and even pants bearing some elements from a movie or TV show sells like hotcakes: its fans just can’t get enough of it.

These Harry Potter-inspired stilettos aren’t available in stores, because they were made specially for Redditor akasha446‘s wedding.

The bride wore the red Gryffindor pair (naturally!), while her bridesmaids rocked the heels featuring Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin house. The gems adorning the heels adds a bit of glam to each shoe.

The shoes were hand-painted by akasha446′s sister-in-law, samartypants, who also happens to be a Redditor. You can check out more pictures of the shoes in the gallery below.

Each Pair Tells a Story: Sebastian Errazuriz’s ’12 Shoes for 12 Lovers’

The relationship might be over. But the memories (or scars) from it will live on. If not in your heart, then in your mind.

I think that can be said in Sebastian Errazuriz’s case, as he drew inspiration from past relationships and ex-lovers for his new series called 12 Shoes for 12 Lovers.

As the title implies, each pair in the collection was inspired by an ex-girlfriend. Her personality, their relationship, and vivid memories are all brought to light and to life with each pair.

From the Rock (which is inspired by what seems to be Sebastian’s most painful relationship) to the Cry Baby, each pair of shoes tells a story. Sebastian is only too happy to fill in the blanks and clue you in on the woman behind the designs with the commentaries that accompany each pair.

Fairy Tale Footwear Look Like a Dream

Not every girl can have her fairy tale ending, but every girl can have a pair of shoes that were inspired from stories that had happily-ever-after endings.

Fairy Tale FootwearDesigner Charlotte Olympia’s line for her Fall 2013 collection is aptly called “Once Upon a Time,” no doubt in reference to the classic tales that inspired her designs. From princessy pumps to more casual but still girly loafers, it seems like Charlotte’s got most bases covered.

Unfortunately, only women with royally loaded wallets can afford these designer shoes, considering a pair of shoes from Charlotte’s line normally costs several hundreds of dollars.

But still, it doesn’t hurt to admire and dream, right? I’ve got my eye on yellow sandals with the bejeweled crown. What’s your favorite?

Stand Tall with Star Wars Wedges and Superhero Pumps

These wedges are made for walking, but you can also just display them for good measure because they look more like collectible works of art than actual footwear.

These Star Wars wedges, for example, feature the most noted characters from the hit franchise, from Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker to Darth Vader and several of his Stormtroopers.

Star Wars Wedges

If you’re not much of a Star Wars fan, then maybe superhero-themed pumps and heels featuring the likes of Superman, Captain America, Dredd or Wonder Woman is more up your alley.

They’ve even got some Robocop high heels. Now I’d buy that for a dollar!

Dredd Heels

These fancy footwear are made-to-order by Etsy decoupage artist DeckoFab. They take custom orders, too, so if you’re a huge fan (or troll), then you can put in an order for an all-Jar Jar pair of wedges for good measure.

The wedges cost $115(USD), while the high heels are priced at $85. You can check them out at DeckoFab’s Etsy store.

3D-Printed Wedges Have an iPhone Case on Their Heels

3D printing is changing how people make and build things these days. From printed guns to gowns, the sky’s the limit when it comes to 3D printing. This, you can clearly see, with the shoes that Alan Nguyen of Freedom of Creation has come up with using 3D printing technology.

The iPhone Mashup Shoe features an overlapping strap with an intricate heel that has its very own iPhone case. You can slip your smartphone snugly into the case so you can carry it with you wherever you’re headed in the most unconventional way possible. Each shoe comes with its own iPhone case, so you can carry up to two phones at a time.

While they look kind of cool, it’s not a very sensible design, since your phone will probably be worse for wear after a short while. But while the wedges won’t be so gentle on your iPhone, at least they’ll be kind to your feet.

The iPhone Mashup Shoe was exhibited last year at Milan Design Week and Maison et Objet Paris.

Nguyen explained: “They actually work. I heard they’re pretty comfortable but I haven’t tried them myself.”

Retractable Spikes Let These Boots Tackle Any Terrain

Like having a set of snow chains on your feet, nothing makes traversing winter’s icy conditions easier than metal spikes on the bottom of your boots. But indoors, they can really tear up the floors and carpeting. So Germany’s Meindl has created the perfect compromise: spiked boots with a geared mechanism to retract the metal studs when not needed. Hole-y Air Conditioned Shoes! Now You Can Say Goodbye to Stinky, Sweaty Feet

So these air-conditioned shoes from Chiyoda don’t exactly come with an actual air conditioner, but they’ll have to do for the moment until someone figures out a way to do that. Not like the latter sounds like a very practical idea, but if there’s a market for it, then why not?

Airconditioned ShoesChiyoda’s air-conditioned shoes follow the same concept used by makers of breathable sneakers and running shoes. You’ll find not one, not two, but six air vents on the shoe’s sole to facilitate air movement from your feet to the outside world.

But the added airiness comes with a price: you run the risk of dirtier soles (your actual soles, this time) because of the openings. You’ll also have to wary when it’s raining, because the water will probably creep up the holes and into the shoe itself.

They’re being sold for 7,245 yen (~ $78 USD) on Chiyoda’s site.

These boots were made for talkin’: O2 teams up with artist for ‘walkie talkie’ footwear

These boots were made for talkin' O2 teams up with artist for 'walkie talkie' mobile footwear

Sorry, Ms. Sinatra, but the headline parody was all too obvious to ignore. As part of its mobile device Recycle program, which allows users to trade in old handsets for cash, British telco O2 has commissioned local designer Sean Miles to give discarded featurephones a new lease on life. The end result? Four footwear designs – made from the likes of Christian Louboutins, Nike Airs, Hunter Wellingtons and a classic Brogue men’s shoe — replete with a fully functional phone embedded in the sole. We know exactly what you’re thinking: Why would anyone want to hold a shoe to their face? Whether it’s for the love of the arts, a penchant for public ridicule or a closer whiff of the ground below, we can’t say for sure. What we do know is that this truly “mobile” kit(sch) will be up for auction later in March at a planned exhibition. But that won’t be the last you’ll see of Miles’ unholy meshing of tech and apparel — the artist also plans to branch out into gloves and handbags as part of the fuller O2 Recycle Collection. You paying attention, Weird Al? This one’s for you!

Flip Flop Mary Jane with Inverted Platform Pumps: The Schizophrenic Shoe

Some people try to do so many things and juggle so many relationships at once that they end up failing horribly at most of the things they’re attempting to do. The same thing applies to shoes – at least, to this particular pair by Dolce Vita called the ‘Gypsy Pump.’

Flip Flop Mary Jane PumpsIndeed, it’s a gypsy in every sense of the word because it doesn’t have any one specific heritage. I think it looks particularly confused because it’s trying to be so many different kinds of shoes at once: flip flops, Mary Jane pumps, and wedges with an inverted platform.

It’s just a shoe hybrid that most women I know wouldn’t be caught dead or alive wearing.

Flip Flop Mary Jane Pumps1

In case you’re wondering, Gypsy Pumps actually exist, and retail for $169 (USD). Yeah, go figure that these things aren’t just a concept like so many of the other more practical items we feature here.
