Full Circle Magazine Issue #5

This article was written on September 28, 2007 by CyberNet.

Full Circle Magazine Issue 5 Cover I can’t believe Full Circle Magazine is already on issue 5, but it’s true. They are even planning on starting a podcast which will add an entirely new dimension to an already great magazine.

In this issue I was excited to see their four-page review of Gutsy Gibbon (a.k.a. Ubuntu 7.10), which happened to just roll out in Beta form earlier today. What actually turned out to be the most interesting article in the magazine, however, was a review of a game that costs $19.95 to purchase. It’s called Bridge Construction Set (for Windows, Linux, and Macs), and the whole point is to build bridges that you stress test. I don’t buy or play games very often, but being an engineer I have to admit that it sounds kind of fun. 🙂

I’ve converted this issue of Full Circle Magazine into a JPEG image for those of you who don’t want to download the PDF, and here’s a quick overview of what issue #5 has in it:

  • Fluxbuntu – Step-by-step Install
  • How-To:
    • Report Bugs with LaunchPad
    • CoLoCo Edubuntu Presentation
    • From VMware to VirtualBox
    • Learning Scribus Pt.5
  • Review of Bridge Construction Kit
  • Preview of Gusty Gibbon
  • Top 5 Strategy Games
  • Letters, Q&A, My Desktop, My PC, the new My Opinion column, and more!

Full Circle Magazine Issues #8 & #9

This article was written on January 25, 2008 by CyberNet.

Full Circle 8 9

We missed out on the Full Circle issue #8 release, and so we’re combining it with the newly released issue #9. The earlier one covers how to setup a Mythbuntu box for recording your favorite television shows, and the latter issue walks through the new KDE 4 that was just released last week.

One of the interesting things in issue #8 was the introduction of the Ubuntu Women column, which went into full-swing in issue #9. With it they’re hoping to expand the female audience in the open source world, and I think the column is a great way to do that.

Full Circle Magazine for Ubuntu Users

This article was written on May 22, 2007 by CyberNet.

Full Circle MagazineAs the Ubuntu community continues to grow quite rapidly, so does the number of resources being made available. If the Ubuntu Forums just isn’t enough for you then checkout the new Full Circle Magazine. It is 100% free and has a lot of awesome content.

The “Issue #0” of the magazine is offered as a free PDF download, or for those of you who don’t want to open a PDF application I went ahead and converted the entire magazine to a single image. Besides being available in English, it is also available in Russian, Spanish, Galician, Dutch, and Indonesian. If you’re interested in providing a translation please see this site.

The first issue is 17 pages long, and takes a look back at Ubuntu’s history over the last few years. About halfway through they reach Ubuntu 7.04 (the latest version) and take a more in-depth look into the new features that were introduced, including Desktop Effects and the new games.

Issue #1 is being worked on right now, and will be approximately 44 pages in length. I’m pretty anxious to get my hands on it to see what all they have to say, but in the meantime be sure to checkout our extended articles regarding Ubuntu:
