Tricking the Eye: Phenomenal 3D Art
Posted in: Today's ChiliThe art world is full of surprising and unexpected styles, but there have always been some clear separations. Paintings, drawing, and photographs stay on the two-dimensional canvas, while sculptures exist in 3-D. Those boundaries are difficult to cross, unless you are Ramon Bruin, a Dutch artist who excels at blurring the lines between reality, art, and the physical boundaries of a 2-D world.
Think your latest Instagram shot could be a masterpiece? Then have it painted on canvas and show the whole world your awesome shot in a traditional medium.
You could commission your own artist, or you could just send it off to Pixelist.
Pixelist is a service that promises to deliver hand-made paintings of your Instagram image of choice. Their campaign is currently up on Indiegogo, where you can get a 12×12 Pixelist painting by making a minimum pledge of $90(USD).
If you want to have a regular-sized image printed, then you can cough up $10 more to get the 12×16 painting. Prices go up from there for larger sizes.
Pixelist aims to use the money raised from their Indiegogo campaign to set up a website and spread the word about their awesome service. If you’re interested, head on over to their page before the end of the day on 7/25 and make a pledge!

Among their many contributions to the world, the Japanese are famed for their ingenuity and ability to create concepts which many of us would never have dreamed of, let alone contemplated one day buying. Whilst many of these may not be found on the shelves at your local store, let’s face it, what’s more fun than having a look at some truly crazy food inventions?
There are lots of drum kit apps for mobile devices, but they’re not that easy to use. Many of them look and are arranged like real drum kits instead of being optimized for touchscreen use. Also if you’re a drummer you’re more used to using drum sticks instead of your fingers. Drummerz drum sticks might alleviate those two drawbacks.
Drummerz are made of plastic wrapped in conductive rubber. The company who makes them claims that the sticks are flexible enough that they won’t damage mobile devices, but obviously that largely depends on how hard you swing. They also come with large drum tips that supposedly enhance the sticks’ responsiveness.
You can order the drum sticks from Drummerz for $30 (USD) per pair. As you may have noticed in the video, Drummerz sticks are quite short. They’re 9.5″ long, while traditional drum sticks are typically about 15″ to 17″ long. It would’ve been nice if they could extend to a normal drum stick’s length to make the experience more realistic.

Love wine? Love soda? Even though the Rouge Sucette contains elements of both, there’s no guarantee that you’ll love it though. It’s a Coca-Cola-flavored wine by Châteaux en Bordeaux’s Hausmann Famille, and it’s going to be relesaed next month.
Rouge Sucette, which translates to ‘Red Lollipop’, contains 75% wine, 25% sugar, water, and a whole lot of cola flavoring. Of course, you could probably just mix wine and Coke in your own home, but it’s not going to be the same, that much I can tell you.
What do you think? Fun concoction or weird booze?
