With Kmart’s revenue reports heading into the toilet, it appears its TV ads might have followed suit this holiday season. Down 4.6 percent in earnings this quarter, one of the nation’s largest discount retailers is taking a radical departure from it’s wholesome Mom’s Apple Pie image to one that replicates the blue material you might catch on late night, a la Chelsea Lately!
A lot of people I know tend to avoid eating two things in public: chicken and burgers. Chicken, because it’s harder to eat without using your hands (and the smell lingers on your fingers when you do) and burgers, because you can look quite unsightly when you open wide to take a bite.
For the former, there’s finger tongs (or trongs). For the latter, there’s the Liberation wrapper to hide you behind a demure facade while you stuff your face.
The burger wrapper was debuted by Japanese burger chain Freshness Burger. Printed on the outside side of the wrapper is a half-face of a smiling woman, which is meant to cover the diner’s actual half-face while she eats.
The wrapper essentially masks the person’s face from the front view, although I don’t think anything can be done for the side view at this point. After switching their wrappers to this, Freshness Burger reported a 213% increase among women who ordered their burgers.
I wonder if they’ll make a male version of the Liberation Wrapper for the men who do care about how they look when they eat.

Designer Mike Charles wanted to have a dock for his iPhone that would not only reduce cable clutter but blend in his kitchen as well. He ended up with the Foaster, a dock for the iPhone 5, 5S and 5C that looks just like a toaster. He gets bonus points for not naming it the iToaster.
The Foaster has a plastic body with aluminum trim. It will come with two MFi-certified Lightning-to-USB cables so you can charge up to two iPhones at once. Sadly, unlike a real toaster its slots are not spring-loaded. The phones won’t sink when you plug them in and they certainly won’t pop off when they’re done charging. But at least you can easily plug and unplug your iPhone from the dock.
Pledge at least $79 (USD) on Kickstarer to get a Foaster as a reward. What’s next? Foven for iPads?
Thanksgiving is a time to remember America’s beginnings, when the Pilgrims and the Native Americans made peace and broke bread together. It also is a time for family and friends to gather around the table for food and thankfulness, followed by football and some more football. Evidently, it can also be a great time for super-silliness. Here are some ridiculous and fun ways to play with your food this Thanksgiving…
School kids across America will begin making Thanksgiving crafts and decorations soon, encouraged by their teachers. We love their enthusiasm, but we pity the parents that must display these treasures. Take a look at some of the truly ugly and funny DIY craft treasures we found. Are the projects around your home as "special" as these?
Tiny Atari 2600 Has An Even Tinier Display: What Is This, a Console for Ants?
Posted in: Today's ChiliThe once great console maker Atari has been reduced to a mere pixel of itself these days. While Sony and Microsoft are gearing up for a new console war, Atari is left catering to old school gamers with keychain consoles. Adam of SheekGeek made a display that matches both the figurative and literal size of Atari’s game system. It’s so small that you can barely see what’s on screen.
Yep, that’s the display, which is a module from an old Sony Handycam, next to a U.S. postage stamp. It’s so small that Adam has to use a macro lens on his camera so he can demonstrate it on video.
Now that’s what I call a counterintuitive Retina Display. Head to SheekGeek for the full details of his hack.
