Christopher Nolan is a great movie director but how would his genius and uh, love for darkness, translate into something like commercials? It’d probably be hilarious! Though let’s be honest, if I saw a coffee commercial like Inception, Memento or The Dark Knight, I’d go out to the store and buy their coffee immediately. More »
Hamsters are more than a little bit OCD when it comes to running nowhere on that little wheel of theirs. They can go all night long and if the wheel squeaks they will take you along for the ride. With this adorable little hamster race car both you and that special rodent of yours can live out your NASCAR dreams together.
Water bottles are basically banned in most exams I’ve taken, and it’s easy to see why. Students can get so creative at cheating that even a pen itself can be used for that purpose. Case in point? The White Weasel’s editable and printable Aquafina label that lets students create cheat sheets that look like water bottle labels.
The only challenge is finding a printer that can print this stuff on shiny plastic. It’ll look way suspicious if you showed up to the test with a water bottle wrapped in printed paper, don’t you think? Especially if you keep staring at it during the duration of the test. Now that’s a dead giveaway.
But all kidding aside, we don’t condone cheating in any way, so if you do have a test coming up, get off the Internet and crack those books open. Your future self will thank you for it.

You know you’re getting old when you start thinking how something was better back in the day. Programmer Hugues Johnson was in placed that mood recently when he wrote about the history of the Legend of Zelda series. He thought the amount of hand-holding in the beloved series has become ridiculous. So he decided to let some steam out by mocking some of today’s gaming norms.
Aside from poking fun at the spoon-feeding that is rife in today’s videogames, Johnson also ridicules DLC and – the worst aspect infecting games today – the always online requirement, aka The SimCity.
If you don’t see anything wrong with the Metal Gear image you probably don’t see the humor in any of these pictures. If that is indeed the case I recommend you watch this video. All gamers and developers must watch that video. But if you’re like me and you just want to sulk more, head to Johnson’s website to see more of his jokes.

Celebrity portraits have always captured the attention of the world, but San Francisco-based artist Jason Mecier has built his career by making portraits that tell the real story behind celebrities. His mosaic portraits are made of candy, pills, lipstick, cell phones, cigarette butts, and every other object (or substance) in between.
Batman, the Dark Knight, The Caped Crusader, Bruce Wayne. Whatever you call him, you always think he’s operating with stronger principles and on a higher moral ground than most people. He doesn’t like to kill. Or so he says. In this video by CollegeHumor, The Penguin, played by Patton Oswalt, exposes Batman’s lie and pays for it. More »
Revoltech recently released this 25th Anniversary action figure of Naked Snake aka Big Boss from Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. It comes with a lot of props, but the plainest of its props is also the best one: a cardboard box.
The Snake stealth item of choice is printed with “1987-2012″, which of course indicates the Metal Gear franchise’s first 25 years. Aside from the box, Big Boss has a lot of other toys, including an assault rifle, a handgun, a stun gun as well as “Zzzz” and “!” signs. Big Boss is also highly poseable – even his left eye is moveable – but his face is too cartoony for my taste. At least you can hide him in his box.
You can see lots of silly shots of the action figure on Amiami’s blog. It seems to be already sold out in toy stores, but you can still find a few units sneaking about on eBay. Just be prepared to pay significantly more than its original price.
If you can’t resist showing off to your friends whenever the opportunity presents itself, then you’ll probably enjoy completing the challenges in Showboatr – and boasting about them once you do.
It’s an app that contains a bunch of challenges that you’re supposed to complete, ranging from the typical (like tying a cherry stem into a knot using your tongue) to the weird (like peeling banana with your feet). Think of it like the achievements or trophies on your video game system, but IRL.
The app asks you to take a video of yourself while attempting or accomplishing any of the challenges so you can prove that you actually did it and share your feat with your friends (and the rest of the world). Like some people say, it didn’t happen if there’s no proof.
Showboatr was developed by Nyquist Design and is currently available for download for free from the iTunes App Store.
