Chainsaw Key Cover — It’s A Guy Thing

Chainsaw Key CoverThis is about as cute as a truly "guy thing" can get. This chainsaw key cover is a fun tribute to those intrepid lumberjacks that harvest our wood. It features two small LED lights to help you find that lock in a dark alley. Not only that, at the simple push of a button it makes that special chainsaw sound. It is music to a tool guy’s ears.

Food-Instagramming Pranksters Harass Random Diners

Do Instagrammers who post pictures of food annoy you? Apparently, they irritate a lot of people, including some guys who took it upon themselves to come up with an in-your-face prank that demonstrates just how annoying their behavior is.

Or that could just be my interpretation of their prank. Anyway, the whole thing was orchestrated by Hungry, which is a YouTube channel that’s all about food.

Instagram Food Prank

They had two pranksters travel all around town, asking random people if they could take a picture of their food so they can post it to their Instagram account. It’s invasive and irksome for them to do so, but it also happens to be a very funny clip. You can check out what happened in the clip below:

What do you find most annoying about Instagram?

Electronic Girlfriend Coat Hugs You When Nobody Else Will

This interactive, electronic coat called the Riajyuu isn’t the first time people have attempted to give clothes that all-too-literal human factor. Remember the Like-a-Hug jacket which gave the wearer a good old squeeze every time someone ‘liked’ his or her posts on Facebook?

It’s all well and good until people stop ‘liking’ your stuff and you’re back to begging for hugs from willing strangers. I kid, but what makes the electronic girlfriend coat different is that you don’t have to do anything to earn hugs except wear it.

Electronic Girlfriend

The Riajyuu Coat was created by students from the University of Tsukuba. It’s more than just a jacket that hugs you, since it has also been programmed to whisper sweet nothings to you as you wear it.

The coat comes with a belt around its mid-section, which tightens to simulate the hug. As for the whispering part, it comes with a pair of headphones that lets its wearer listen to a high-pitch voiced woman talking and apologizing for being late – just like a real girlfriend might. Obviously a real girl does more than just hug and whisper, but keep in mind that coats do have their limitations.

Hardware engineer Hikaru Sugiura explains: “The concept of this device is everyone can get the feeling of having a girlfriend.” It’s an interesting concept, but I don’t think a coat can ever take the place of a real live girl. I think that much is obvious.

Dunkin Donut Wedding Cake: The Cheapest, Best-est Wedding Cake Ever

The wedding cake business is a racket. When my wife and I got married, I seem to remember the extravagant wedding cake cost something like 2,000 smackeroos. And while it looked beautiful, it actually didn’t taste that great. It certainly didn’t taste as good as a glazed donut, but I’m a simple man with simple needs when it comes to my sweets. Now, there’s finally a wedding cake for the rest of us.

Dunkin Donuts Bahamas worked with the Swiss Pastry Shop to create this epic wedding cake using carefully stacked piles of their glazed donuts, and it’s just perfect. Not only does it eliminate the need for slicing the cake and getting that messy frosting all over the bride and groom, but I’m sure it cost way less than a traditional wedding cake.

Sure there’s still a regular white cake on the top, but the little donut couple on top excuses them from their digression from the donut theme. And while this particular cake was made by professional pastry chefs, you could probably accomplish something pretty similar with a few dozen from your local donut shop.

Now, how to work Munchkins into the design…

Blocks Photo Series: The Adventures of a Life-sized Block Man

Have you met the Block Man? He’s a life-sized non-person who has two eyes, a nose, a mouth, a pair of arms and a pair of legs, just like you and me. The only thing is, he’s not alive, because while he has the same body parts as you and I, he’s made up of nothing but ink and cardboard.

But just like Pinocchio, the Block Man has a big personality and a flair for adventure. He might not be able to do much given his made-of-cardboard-blocks state, he certainly does his best to make the most of life before he gets recycled.

Still a Doll? It’s Barbie Without the Makeup and Lipo

I remember that it caused quite a stir when Mattel decided to manufacture Barbie dolls with more realistic bodies. By that, I mean an average-sized chest, a slightly wider waist, and with a couple more inches (doll-inches, that is) added to her hips.

Artist Eddi Aguirre decided to go with that idea but took things a little further by using Photoshop to reveal the real face of Barbie. So here she is, minus the makeup and looking like she aged ten years overnight:

No Makeup Barbie

I don’t think braces can be covered up by makeup, but hey, maybe Eddi’s just trying to show what she would look like if she didn’t get her teeth capped. Here’s a closer look at Barbie’s face. I guess it’s true what they say about makeup damaging your skin if you put too much of it on or keep it on your face long enough.

No Makeup Barbie1

Barbie isn’t the only overly dolled-up doll on the market. The one below happens to be one of her many plastic friends, and Eddi has decided to re-do her face and body if she didn’t go for the lipo.

No Makeup Barbie2

It’s highly unusual art, but it leaves you with some food for thought afterwards.

Etch A Sketch Art – All Grown Up

For many people, myself included, an Etch A Sketch toy is nothing more than a frustrating memory from childhood that convinced me I would never become an artist. But artist Bryan Madden has used those two maddening dials to create unbelievable cityscapes and portraits in his own version of Etch Pop Art. No Shaking Allowed!

DIY Sound Effects Suit Jacket: *Applause*

A young man named Kenneth Guglielmino is one step closer to living in a 90s sitcom. He hacked together a suit jacket that emits cliché audience reactions at the push of a button.

sound effects suit jacket by Kenneth Guglielmino

Kenneth packed an Arduino, an Adafruit Wave Shield and a small speaker into a suit jacket. I’m not sure what he used as a controller or if he made one from scratch, just that he can change samples and switch between sound banks using different buttons. The sound effects he installed include a booing sound, an awwww sound, an air horn and of course the ol’ canned laughter.

Great job, Kenneth. Now you just have to invent robot co-stars that embody various stereotypes and you’re all set!

Vadering is the New Planking: AKA Your Lack of Photoshop is Disturbing

Remember when planking went viral and your social networks just exploded with pictures of people lying flat on their faces in all sorts of weird locations? Planking isn’t so hot anymore nowadays, although there’s a new photo meme that’s taking its place. It’s called Vadering, and it’s just as crazy but tons more ghastly in a geeky sort of way.

vadering

I think you can tell what it’s inspired from based on the name alone. “Vadering” is basically a meme where people do Darth Vader’s infamous force choke on others. Because no human has the powers that Darth Vader possesses, we must all resort to Photoshop to actually perform this powerful Force chokehold.
