LG G Pro 2 Priced Cheaper Than Galaxy S5 In Taiwan

LG G Pro 2 Priced Cheaper Than Galaxy S5 In TaiwanAs far as Android handsets are concerned, Samsung and LG are rivals. Both companies hail from South Korea and both are battling it out for smartphone dominance with the Android platform. However it’s safe to say that Samsung is probably leading at the moment, but interesting enough it looks like LG could be trying to tempt potential Samsung customers over with lower prices.

Earlier at MWC 2014 last month, both LG and Samsung unveiled their flagship devices. With LG it was the LG G Pro 2, while Samsung had the Galaxy S5. Both phones are almost identical save for the screen size, with the G Pro 2 packing a 5.9-inch Full HD display while the Galaxy S5 featured a 5.1-inch Full HD display, and the choice of chipset where LG went with the Snapdragon 800 versus the Galaxy S5’s Snapdragon 801. LG G Pro 2 all set to rock with Knock Code

lg-g-pro-2The folks over at LG Electronics have just introduced the spanking new LG G Pro 2, which will be sequel to the LG G Pro. In fact, the LG G Pro happened to pick up the gong of being the Best Smartphone of MWC 2013. We do wonder whether the LG G Pro 2 will win any awards at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, later this month. Just what will the LG G Pro 2 be able to deliver? Let us find out right after the jump.

For starters, the LG G Pro 2 will arrive with a stunning 5.9” Full HD IPS display alongside an extremely slim bezel of 3.3mm, delivering an industry-leading screen-to-frame ratio of 77.2%. Not only that, it will also feature a thicker, high-power 1W Hi-Fi sound that is touted to be 30% louder compared to its predecessor, offering clearer sound with more powerful bass. What makes the LG G Pro 2 most interesting is the manner in which the powering on and unlocking process works.

Basically, LG engineers have come up with this feature known as Knock Code that would make the unlocking process easier and a whole lot more convenient than ever before. Knock Code would enable owners to power on and unlock their G Pro 2 smartphones in a single and easy step, through the tapping of one’s screens using one of 86,367 “knock” combinations. The intelligent algorithm and advanced hardware combination is a potent one, where you can input the knock pattern on any area of the screen, even when the display is turned off, with anywhere from two to eight taps to choose from.

Other hardware specifications include a quad-core 2.26GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, the Adreno 330 GPU, 3GB RAM, a choice of 16GB or 32GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, and Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box.

LG Claims G Pro 2 Knock Code Safer Than Touch ID

LG Claims G Pro 2 Knock Code Safer Than Touch ID

These days OEMs are putting in a lot of time and resources towards improving smart access systems on their mobile devices. A popular method is fingerprint scanning, which Apple used in its existing flagship smartphone, the iPhone 5s. Called Touch ID, the scanner sits underneath the home button and only grants access to users that have configured their fingerprints. Its quite secure, seeing as how all eight billion plus of us have unique fingerprints, but LG claims its access control system found on the G Pro 2 is much safer. Its system is called Knock Code.

While we can’t speak for other parts of the world, it seems that over in the US, smartphone customers can look forward to getting their hands on the handset after March. This is according to LG mobile’s head of Korea sales, Cho Sung Ha, who was quoted as saying (via ZDNet Korea), “Starting in March, we will launch it in Asian countries where demand for large-screen phablets is the highest.”

LG G Pro 2 Specs “Confirmed” In Benchmark

LG G Pro 2 Specs Confirmed In BenchmarkThe LG G Pro 2 will be LG’s successor to the original G Pro which was launched in 2013. The G Pro 2 is expected to be announced ahead of MWC 2014, assuming the rumors are to be believed. Now in terms of specs, what we have heard so far are only rumors, although LG has since confirmed several features, such as how the handset would feature OIS Plus technology for its camera. Well now thanks to recently leaked AnTuTu benchmarks, it looks like there are additional specifications of the LG G Pro 2 that have been “confirmed”, although we do suggest you maintain a degree of skepticism for now, at least until the official announcement.

Now according to the benchmark results, it seems that the LG G Pro 2 will feature a Full HD display. As to the size of the display, that remains unknown although the rumors peg it at 5.9-inch or possibly even a 6-inch display. It will also pack 3GB of RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 chipset clocked at 2.26GHz, 32GB of onboard storage, and it looks like the handset will come with Android 4.4 KitKat preinstalled. It should be noted that benchmark results can be faked, although we’re not sure who would want to go to all that trouble, so take it with a grain of salt for now, but if its rumored 13th February announcement is anything to go by, check back with us in the next couple of days for more updates.

LG G Pro 2 Will Feature OIS Plus Camera Technology

LG G Pro 2 Will Feature OIS Plus Camera TechnologyMWC 2014 is around the corner and we expect that many smartphone and tablet manufacturers will take the opportunity to announce something new. LG is one of those companies and we expect that the LG G Pro 2 will most likely be announced then. So far what we do know is the the handset does exist. The handset will also be a follow up to last year’s LG G Pro which was designed to compete with the Galaxy Note 2, meaning that we can expect something of the phablet variety with the LG G Pro 2 as well. Now as far as other specs are concerned, we have only heard the rumors, but thanks to a new post by LG Korea, they revealed the LG G Pro 2 will feature a 13MP camera with OIS Plus technology.

As we’re sure some of you guys know, OIS stands for Optical Image Stabilization which basically helps reduce blurred photos caused by movements from your hand. So with OIS Plus, it’s essentially the same thing but will combine software-based image stabilization with hardware-based stabilization, and will also reportedly help capture sharper photos in low-light situation as well, which was one of the notable features of the LG G2. Other features of the LG G Pro 2’s camera includes the ability to capture video at UHD resolution, so if making 4K videos is your thing, perhaps the LG G Pro 2 could be worth keeping an eye on.

    LG G Pro 2 Specs & News, Pre-MWC Overview

LG G Pro 2 Specs & News, Pre MWC OverviewA couple of years ago, we guess you could say that Samsung pioneered the phablet category when it announced the first Samsung Galaxy Note. The device featured a 5.3-inch display, which at that time was considered to be pretty massive. However fast forward to today, many companies have no qualms about releasing phones with large displays.

In fact we have seen how companies like Sony and Hisense push the boundaries with phone whose displays are larger than that of 6-inches. That being said, it looks like at MWC 2014, we can look forward to additional phablets, and one of them could be from LG, Samsung’s biggest rival back home, who recently confirmed that there will be an LG G Pro 2 that will most likely be unveiled at MWC 2014. Alleged LG G Pro 2 Photos Leaked

654781480_5e229f56_imageSo we know that according to LG, there is an LG G Pro 2 which will be the successor to last year’s LG G Pro, the South Korean company’s answer to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3. That being said while we do know of the device’s existence, its specs and how it actually looks like remains something of a mystery, at least until recently where a pair of alleged LG G Pro 2 photos was leaked and made their way onto the internet, courtesy of a post on the DC Inside forum in South Korea. The photos aren’t much to look at and for all we know could have been easily photoshopped, but until proven otherwise, we’ll assume, with a degree of skepticism, that these are indeed photos of the upcoming handset. LG G Pro 2 Is Official, Will Debut In February

lg-optimus-g-pro-review--23Earlier in 2013, LG announced their then flagship device, the LG G Pro. Given the time of the release, it was meant to compete against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Well it looks like LG could be deploying the same strategy that they used back in 2013 and compete against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with an upcoming handset, the LG G Pro 2. The LG G Pro 2 has been rumored about for a while now, but it looks like LG has decided to put the rumors to rest by officially announcing the device’s existence, although exactly what sort of hardware the handset packs under the hood remains a mystery for now.

LG’s official announcement basically states that we can look forward to its unveiling in February 2014, although LG declined to provide any specific dates. However given that MWC 2014 is taking place in February, chances are that could be when we might be able to look forward to learning more about the device. Based on what we know from the rumors, the LG G Pro 2 is said to feature a 6” display with a Full HD resolution. A bit odd given that high-end smartphones are starting to turn to 2K display resolutions, although we guess it could help cut costs, not to mention the Note 3’s resolution is Full HD as well, so perhaps LG thinks that is good enough. Other rumored specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 3GB of RAM to accompany it. Other specs such as its camera, software, and additional features remain unknown, but hopefully additional details will be revealed in the near future.
