Good news, everyone! Preorders are now open for the Virtuix Omni Natural Motion Interface. For those of you who haven’t been paying much attention, it’s an omnidirectional gaming treadmill which, when paired with a headset such as the Oculus Rift, effectively offers full virtual reality.
That, my friends, is downright incredible.
Having worked in the film/video industry for about 20-years, I’ve had my experiences with camera mounts. Some are great. Some… well, just plain suck. This device is quite innovative and may just be the answer to getting the jitters out of a shot without the weight of a steady-cam.
This camera is flipping awesome. The camera takes short bursts of GIF photos and then prints them out on Z-ink paper to be assembled into a flip book to reanimate the action. The revolutionary idea is the brain child of Jiho Jang as a part of his college thesis. The problem is that this IS just an idea, but one that needs to be brought into reality.
While the Newman Q20
doesn’t look too different from the tiny netbooks of old, keeping it
up to date are a touchscreen and a nifty flippable tablet mode,
alongside full-fat Windows 8 support and reasonably up-to-date
internals.
For those who don’t know, Schrödinger’s Cat is a thought experiment designed by Austrian scientisst Erwin Schrödinger in 1935 to demonstrate what he considered a flaw in the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics. The experiment has been turned into the latest oracle gadget, and the geekiest and nerdiest one since the Magic 8 Ball — Schrödinger’s Cat Executive Decision Maker.
The USB Tie Pin Cooler from Japan’s Thanko takes Mad Men style to a newer, cooler level. The lightweight, high-power clip-on fan normally runs off a wired USB connection but includes a battery pack so you can keep chillin’ out when you have to leave the office.

ultra-cheap tablet computer might make the device very interesting to
hackers.
Fujitsu’s high-tech walking stick looks
to offer easy monitoring and direction for loved ones. A few
additions to its already decent feature set, however, could make it
even better.
Between carbon dioxide, dust, and sulfur dioxide, the air around us can get pretty polluted. In New York we emit as much as 149,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide in a day. What about dust? We know there’s a lot of that too. What about sulfur dioxide, well there’s about 60,000 tons of that a year in New York.
Intoxication affects individuals differently. Some people can hold their alcohol better than others. However, on the issue of legality, differentiating states of intoxication is not done by how a person feels. There is a legal standard to determine that and breaching that threshold is grounds for serious legal consequences.
