Android 4.4 For Galaxy S3 And Galaxy Note 2 Still On The Cards

Android 4.4 For Galaxy S3 And Galaxy Note 2 Still On The Cards

OEMs give priority to their most recent devices whenever major updates are released. We witnessed this with Samsung and Android 4.4 KitKat. So far the update has only been released for Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4, its two flagships from 2013. Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 owners are still waiting on the update, it was expected to drop by the end of March, but we didn’t hear anything about it. Now the expected time frame sits between mid-April and early May, this according to a user in South Korea who contacted Samsung customer support.

Samsung Galaxy S3 And Note 2 Rumored To Receive Android 4.4.2 By End Of March

Samsung Galaxy S3 And Note 2 Rumored To Receive Android 4.4.2 By End Of MarchIt is not surprising that Samsung’s newer devices, like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3 are on the receiving end of the latest build of Android, but what about Samsung’s older devices? If there was a drawback to not owning a Nexus device is that you never know if and when your OEM decides to update to the latest build of Android, but the good news is that if you own either the Galaxy S3 or the Galaxy Note 2 from back in 2012, you’d be in luck because according the rumors, Samsung is expected to update both handsets to Android 4.4.2 KitKat by the end of March.

Last we heard the rumors claimed that the update could only arrive in April, but thanks to insider info received by the folks at Android Geeks, they claim that the update will arrive by the end of March instead, a good month earlier than expected which we guess is a good thing. The good news about the KitKat update is that it wasn’t designed with high-end and powerful devices in mind, but rather the low-end, meaning that devices that aren’t too old should be able to be updated to it, so it’s really a matter of whether the companies that make the phones want to upgrade them or not. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now and try not to get your hopes up just yet, but check back with us at a later date to see there are any additional details to be had.

Verizon Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Update Brings Galaxy Gear Support

Over the past couple of weeks the Android 4.3 update has been released for a number of Samsung devices, primarily those that have already been succeeded by newer models. The update is important in the sense that it brings support for the company’s new smartwatch, Galaxy Gear. After having been released for the Sprint and AT&T variants, today Verizon Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update has been released which finally adds support for the smartwatch to Big Red’s version of the popular phablet.

Apart from support for the smartwatch, this update comes with all of the goodies that users expect from Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. A number of preinstalled applications from Samsung are also included in the update, and so is the Samsung Knox enterprise security suite. The update also makes improvements to the music player, S Voice, camera and more. Verizon Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update weighs in around 700MB, its a hefty download, once you’ll definitely want to start on a strong Wi-Fi connection. AT&T Galaxy Note 2 Update Brings Galaxy Gear Support And More

AT&T Galaxy Note 2 Update Brings Galaxy Gear Support And More

A few weeks back a schedule was leaked online which detailed when major U.S. carriers will roll out Android 4.3 for several Galaxy devices. Most of the updates were rolled out according to the exact same schedule, however some took their time, AT&T is a perfect example. The carrier today rolled out the Android 4.3 update for its Galaxy Note 2 subscribers. Not only does it brings a major core OS update, it also adds support for the company’s smartwatch, which was released earlier this year.

Slowly but surely the Galaxy Gear support has been added to a variety of existing Samsung devices, including those that were released over two years ago. When it was initially launched, the Galaxy Gear only supported a handful of the latest Galaxy devices. The update also brings performance improvements and bug fixes apart from support for the Samsung Knox enterprise security suite. Premium Suite features are included in the update too, such as PEN.UP, Group Play 2.5, Multi-Window from Note 3, Group Messaging, New Easy Mode and more. AT&T’s Android 4.3 update for Galaxy Note 2 is being rolled out in stages so it may take a while before the update is live across all regions. Build I317UCUBMK6 should pop up on your device in the near future if it hasn’t already.

Android 4.3 For T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 Released

Android 4.3 For T Mobile Galaxy Note 2 Released

After months of speculation and agonizing wait, Galaxy Note 2 owners on T-Mobile have finally received the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update. That’s right, Android 4.3 for T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 is rolling out right now. The update has already been released for a number of other Samsung smartphones on rival U.S. carriers, T-Mobile has been slightly late in rolling it out, the update didn’t come out on the day that was mentioned on the leaked release schedule.

Apart from changes to the TouchWiz user interface and a few visual enhancements, Android 4.3 for Galaxy Note 2 brings support for Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch. It also brings the improvements that are part and parcel of Android 4.3. The update weighs in at just over 615MB, so you might want to be connected to a strong Wi-Fi connection prior to downloading it. Due to the fact that T-Mobile is rolling out the update in stages, it might take some time before it ultimately pops up in your area. Other methods of downloading the update include manually refreshing the update menu in settings app or hooking up the Galaxy Note 2 to the computer and initiating the update through Samsung Kies software. With Android 4.3 Jelly Bean finally out of the way, subscribers can now settle down and wait for Android 4.4 KitKat to drop sometime next year.

Sprint Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Update Released

Sprint Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Update Released

Sprint has released Android 4.3 Jelly Bean today for its variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The update brings a number of improvements and enhancements, all of which will no doubt be very well received by end users, even if they’re waiting for Android 4.4 KitKat to drop. Carrier testing usually takes a while before the update is rolled out to the public, so for now Sprint Galaxy Note 2 users will have to make do with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Samsung is yet to announce if and when KitKat is going to be released for last year’s Note.

The Sprint Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update brings HD Voice enhancements, support for Samsung Knox enterprise security suite, as well as several user interface enhancements to bring it in line with that of Galaxy Note 3. This update also adds support for the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch, an essential component as Samsung looks to sell more of its smartwatch amid rumors that it has only managed to sell 50,000 units. Sprint is rolling out the update in stages so it might take a while before it becomes available in your particular city. Don’t worry if you do not immediately get the update notification on your phablet. If your Galaxy Note 2 is rooted, bear in mind that its highly likely that this update will break root, so its best to hear more on the root scenario before updating.

Android 4.3 Update For Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Rolls Out

Android 4.3 Update For Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Rolls Out It has not been smooth sailing exactly for Samsung when it comes to the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates for the Samsung Galaxy S3 as well as Galaxy S4 as we have reported on their respective situations. Good news then, for those who happen to own the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, as the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is now officially available for the non-LTE version as well as the LTE-enabled model of the phablet.

It has also been touted that this particular update is a whole lot more stable compared to the rather cranky Android 4.3 update for the Galaxy S3, which should bring a smile to your face. Do bear in mind that this particular update will roll out in stages, so fret not if you do not receive it immediately. For those who want to get the latest update, you will be able to make use of Samsung Kies on the PC, or to check out the updates on the Galaxy Note 2 directly via the About section of the Settings menu.

Among the new changes include support for the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, TRIM support, OpenGL 3.0 Support, ANT+ Support, the implementation of Samsung KNOX as well as a pre-loaded version of Samsung Wallet, amongst numerous others.

Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 XXUEMK4 Build Leaked

Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 XXUEMK4 Build Leaked

It was reported earlier this week that Samsung may start rolling out the Android 4.3 update for Galaxy Note 2 in the near future. Apparently the final build has already reached Samsung service centers, which might mean that an OTA update release just might be around the corner. While Samsung hasn’t released the update as yet, the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 XXUEMK4 build has leaked online. November 10th is the build date. This test build is said to be pretty close to the final build that’s still expected to be released soon.

It is said that this is one of the final builds and that nothing major will be included in the future builds except bug fixes and performance improvements. The update brings a number of changes, such as a new user interface that’s quite similar to the Galaxy Note 3. A number of features have been ported over from the Note 3 as well. Samsung Wallet and Samsung Knox enterprise security suite are also present on Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 XXUEMK4 build. Flashing this firmware build won’t void your warranty but do keep in mind that this isn’t an official release from Samsung. Full changelog and download link for Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 leaked build is available at the leak source.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Update Expected To Roll Out Soon

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Update Expected To Roll Out Soon

Samsung has already started to roll out the much awaited Android 4.3 update for various devices in the Galaxy family, and according to a recent report, it may soon roll out the update for the Galaxy Note 2. The successor to Samsung’s original phablet did very well in the market, as of October 2013, Samsung says that it has sold over 30 million units of the Galaxy Note 2. So quite a lot of people are obviously waiting for the update to drop, and apparently Samsung service centers have already received the update for the Note 2. This should mean that the OTA update process is going to begin in the very near future.

A Note 2 user was actually able to get his unit updated to Android 4.3 from a local Samsung service center in India. The firmware’s build number is N7100XXUEMJ9, build date is October 31st. Judging by these attributes, it appears that this is the final build that is going to be rolled out over-the-air. It isn’t entirely clear what changes the update brings for Galaxy Note 2, though they appear to be similar to those that the Galaxy S3 received after its Android 4.3 update. There will obviously be a few additional features related to the S Pen. [Image via SamMobile]

Samsung Apologizes To Chinese Customers For Galaxy S3 And Note 2 Problems

Samsung Apologizes To Chinese Customers For Galaxy S3 And Note 2 ProblemsWe’re not sure why,but it seems that China in particular seems to have been affected badly when it comes to malfunctioning smartphones and the services when it comes to dealing with them. For example Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, has in the past apologised to Chinese consumers for the way they dealt with repair and warranty enquiries for their iPhone, and now it looks like Samsung will be issuing their own apology as well. In a statement released on their website, Samsung was quoted as saying, “We welcome the scrutiny by the media. As a result of management problems, we have brought inconveniences to consumers, and we offer our sincere apologies.”

The phones in question are the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2, both of which have apparently been rather problematic for customers in China, with reports that both devices crash up to 30 times a day! Crashing once or twice on a daily basis is already unacceptable so we can only imagine the frustration that these users are having when it crashes 30 times. In any case the South Korea tech giant has announced that they will be offering affected customers repair for either device free of charge, and will refund those who have already paid for repairs, and worst case scenario, will offer a full replacement for devices that are still having issues after multiple repairs.
