Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 coming to Hong Kong on the 9th of August?

At least two Android devices from Samsung have been hitting the top stories lately. They are the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 that was first spotted at the Mobile World Congress in February this year, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 that has been rumored to be introduced later this month in Berlin. But it looks like the former will be coming in early, in Hong Kong that is. According to a Korean-based publication, Samsung officials reportedly confirmed that it will release the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 next week, particularly August 9, in Hong Kong.

Yonhap News notes that the first-generation Galaxy Note was a favorite among many Chinese-speaking consumers due to its S-pen feature, which allowed them to easily input text by drawing Chinese characters. Specs-wise, what we currently know is that it will sport a 1.4 GHz quad-core processor and Android 4.0 a.k.a Ice Cream Sandwich. But unless Samsung officially confirms the details of the “almost twice as large” Galaxy Note, let’s take it with a grain of salt in hand.

Even Bigger Galaxy Note Set to Launch August 29th [Samsung]

Samsung’s updated Galaxy Note is on the way, with Samsung confirming that its Galaxy Note 2 is scheduled to be the star of its showing at this year’s IFA trade show. More »

Samsung confirms Galaxy Note 2 debut imminent

Samsung’s August 29 event at IFA 2012, confirmed yesterday, will indeed see the launch of the Galaxy Note 2 the company has reportedly revealed. Although the invitations Samsung issued yesterday to the Berlin press conference did not indicate which device or devices would be on the agenda, the Korean firm supposedly told Reuters that “we plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event.”

That would mark a year since Samsung revealed the first Galaxy Note, the wraps for which were taken off back at IFA 2011. Opinions at the time were divided, with the handset’s oversized 5.3-inch touchscreen and digital stylus – with various customizations to the Android OS to accommodate the pen – leading some to dismiss the Note as neither as useful as a tablet nor as pocket-friendly as a smartphone.

However, consumer response to the Note was surprisingly warm, thus prompting Samsung’s attentions for a second version. The new Note 2 is believed to feature a 5.5-inch display, with a narrower bezel that means the phone itself can be no larger than the existing model.

According to leaked benchmarks, meanwhile, the Note 2 is also tipped to have an Exynos quadcore processor – like the Galaxy S III – clocked at 1.6GHz. There’s also evidence of a 1280 x 720 screen resolution and Ice Cream Sandwich as the OS; other tattle has indicated the camera will be polished as well.

SlashGear will be at IFA 2012 to bring back all the details.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 specifications confirmed through leaked manual

So the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 was seen at Negri Electronics earlier yesterday, and another anonymous tipster has left the service manual for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8000 in the capable hands of SamMobile, and from there, it was just a simple matter of weaning the specifications of the Galaxy Note 10.1. It must be noted that this particular tablet was first introduced at Mobile World Congress earlier this year at MWC in Barcelona, Spain, but it seemed that the system specifications of this device proved to be too low, which is why Samsung had gone back to the drawing board and revamped the specifications for a beefier model.

Expect Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to come with this puppy, where Samsung has also penciled in an update to the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system version down the road. You will find a similar 1.4GHz quad-core processor that is found on the Samsung Galaxy S3, so it ought to be speedy enough to get the job done for most tasks, gaming included. Other specifications include a 5-megapixel camera, GPS, and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity among others.

No idea on whether the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 will be able to perform well in the sales department though – what do you think?

Samsung confirms next Galaxy Note will debut at Mobile Unpacked event this month

Not that there was much doubt, but Reuters reports an unnamed Samsung spokesperson has revealed that yes, the next Galaxy Note will be unveiled at its Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin on August 29th, a year after the original. Other than the existing speculation about a bigger screen, and the faster processor possibly revealed by benchmarks there’s not much else to say, yet, although with IFA kicking off two days later we’re sure the electronics giant will have more than one trick up its sleeve. So, any ideas on what the next generation phablet needs (NFC and a headset?) to keep its king-sized place atop the competition?

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 available for pre-order from Negri Electronics, ship date set for tomorrow

Samsung Galaxy Note pops up for preorder on Negri with Quad Core Exynos, ships tomorrow

Negri Electronics, the apparent one stop shop for hard-to-find tablets, is now offering pre-orders for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 10.1. The listing — which carries a heavy $750 price tag — outfits Sammy’s new slate with a familiar 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos processor, 16 GB of internal storage, and a requisite 10.1-inch 1,280 x 800 resolution touchscreen. Negri also states the slab will rock a quadband 21Mbps HSPA 1900/1800/900/850 radio, which would come as a nice surprise if true. Saltier still, is the firm’s proposed ship date — August 3rd, which is tomorrow. If you don’t mind shelling out for the privilege of being an early adopter, feel free to empty your wallet at the source link below.

Samsung sending out invitations for Mobile Unpacked 2012 event in Berlin

Folks, it looks like we already have one of the strongest proofs that Samsung will be holding another Mobile Unpacked event this month in Berlin. After reportedly sending save-the-date emails to a few people, it seems that Samsung has already begun sending the first invitations for IFA 2012 in Berlin today. Judging from the invitation that you can above, the day to be marked is August 29, Wednesday. As to what Samsung will reveal on that day, it still remains to be seen.

But if the previous rumors are to be believed, it looks like we will be seeing the next-generation Galaxy Note on the said event. So, is anyone excited? So far what we have are only bits and pieces of the alleged device’s specs. Last month, we learned about a GLBenchmark for a purported Samsung GT-N7100 that is equipped with an Exynos 4412 processor with Mali-400 graphics and a  5.5-inch display with a 1280 × 720 resolution. Whatever Samsung has in store for us, we’ll definitely be there to bring you the good news.

Save the date Samsung starts sending out Mobile Unpacked 2012 invites

You know it’s nearly time for IFA 2012 when Samsung starts sending out the Mobile Unpacked invites. The event, famous for launching the phablet-defining Galaxy Note just one year ago, is scheduled to take place on August 29th and should see the official unveiling of that smartphone inbetweener’s successor. Though leaked details of a Note sequel have been scarce, we do have one slight indicator of what’s to come: benchmarks for a mysterious GT-N7100. If those test results are to be believed, we could be in store for a device refresh that packs the same processing powers of the Galaxy S III — quad-core Exynos bumped to 1.6GHz and Mali 400 GPU — along with the OEM’s bevy of Smart functions and, most notably, a stylus upgrade. Of course, the company could very well have other surprises up its sleeve, but given its penchant for extensive security measures, we’ll just have to wait to find out.

Do You Use Your Big Ass Smartphone to Watch Porn? [Chatroom]

Over the weekend, I met two individuals— on two separate occasions—both of whom were proud owners of a Samsung Galaxy S3. A huge ass phone with a huge ass screen. Why would you ever want such a giant phone, I asked, incredulous. Both said the main selling point was the ability to watch porn on the go, on the john, on the subway—just about anywhere, whenever, discretely. More »
