Galaxy S Duos 2 all but official after being listed on Samsung India site

Samsung has yet to make an official announcement about the followup to its Galaxy S Duos. But, if the company’s online store in India is any indication, it won’t be too long before the second-gen dual-SIM-toting handset becomes available. According to the product page, Samsung’s Galaxy S Duos 2 features a 4-inch, 800 x 480 screen, a “fast and powerful” 1.2GHz processor with 768MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage (expandable up to 64GB) and a 1,500mAh battery. The listing also notes that the Duos 2 — said to be running Android 4.2 — will be sold for 10,999 Indian rupees, which comes out to a little over 175 bucks in the US.

Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 Leaked

Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 Leaked

Another day, another Galaxy smartphone. Samsung has already launched a plethora of “Galaxy” branded smartphones this year, from high-end devices to mid-range and low-end devices, the company has all bases covered. Apparently its not quite done yet as another Galaxy smartphone has leaked online and is expected to be launched soon. The Galaxy S Duos 2 will be the successor to last year’s Galaxy S Duos, the defining feature of this device being the dual-SIM compatibility. Its highly likely that this device will be exclusive to emerging markets only, where substantial demand for dual-SIM smartphones exists.

The Galaxy S Duos 2 is said to have a 4 inch 480×800 touchscreen display, a 1.2GHz dualcore processor, 768MB RAM, 4GB of onboard storage, 5 megapixel rear camera, microSD card slot and a 1,500mAh battery. It is said to run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. The promotional materials that have leaked alongside the images indicate that Galaxy Duos 2 is going to have the Multi-Window feature as well, one that we normally see on high-end Samsung devices. It wouldn’t be much more than a marketing ploy given the fact that the Multi-Window experience wouldn’t be as good on a 4 inch display as it is on phablets like the Note 3 and Galaxy S4. Samsung rolling Jelly Bean out across most of its smartphone, tablet lineup ‘soon’

    Samsung Jelly Bean

Now that Samsung has commenced beaming Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean OTA toward deserving Galaxy S III customers, it’s announced a raft of other devices set to receive the buttery OS in the near future. On the list are the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and 10.1, Galaxy Note 10.1, Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy Music, Galaxy Chat, Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Beam, Galaxy Ace Plus, Galaxy mini II and Galaxy S Duos. That should bring a bit of extra speed and smoothness to those devices, along with Google Now for search and Samsung’s own flourishes from the latest TouchWiz UX. As for the rest of us, there’s more than one way to skin a Smartphone — or avoid skinning one, as the case may be.

    Samsung Galaxy S DUOS unveiled

Here is yet another member of the Samsung Galaxy family that you might want to consider if you are in the market for a new smartphone and yet do not want to break your budget consideration – I am referring to the Samsung Galaxy S DUOS, and the name does drop a rather subtle hint of it carrying dual SIM card slots, meaning those who are extremely busy and need to attend to different phone numbers can now do so using a solitary handset, helping you relieve your pocket of some space to carry other more important things around.

Well, the Samsung Galaxy S DUOS is touted to be available from next month onwards (that would be September, mind you), with the roll out beginning from the continent of Old Europe first, before it spreads across the other territories.

What kind of hardware specifications do you think you are able to find underneath the hood of the Samsung Galaxy S DUOS? For starters, we do know that it will run on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, although there is still no word as to whether the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is on its way, but chances are pretty high that it would.

The unique ‘Dual SIM Always on’ feature on the Samsung Galaxy S DUOS will allow you to receive calls on one SIM number, simultaneously letting you take a call from the other, so that you can handle both personal and work commitments without the need to miss a call, ever. Apart from that, you also have the flexibility and option of choosing different billing plans for either SIM, switching between them right there and then at your convenience without the need to reboot your smartphone.

A 4″ display should be enough to keep your eyes happy, while underneath the hood lies a 1GHz processor and a 1500mAh battery that delivers speedy multi-tasking regardless of the applications you run. Just in case the 4GB of internal memory is not enough, there is always a microSD memory card slot which lets you further augment the internal storage space. Are you interested in the Samsung Galaxy S DUOS?

Samsung Galaxy S Duos goes official: launches in Europe next month

Samsung Galaxy S Duos juggles two SIMs, looks like one of the other phones

Aside from that minor labeling at the top, the Galaxy S Duos appears to be trading heavily on the looks of Samsung’s latest flagship. That said, it does have its own trick; space for two SIMs. The phone will be able to keep both SIMs running concurrently, with the ability to chat on Carrier A while still fielding incoming calls on Carrier B. The rest of the hardware is less likely to wow, with a now pretty humble 1GHz processor, 1,500mAh battery, 4GB of built-in storage and a five-megapixel camera on the back. The screen seems big enough, with a 4-inch 480 x 800 TFT housed within the 120g frame, happily running Android 4.0. A European launch is pitched for September, with an unspecified roll-out “across other territories” following soon after.

Samsung Galaxy S Duos details make the rounds, bring Galaxy S III vibe to the dual-SIM world

Samsung Galaxy S Duos makes the rounds, bring GS3 vibe to dualSIM world

Fans of Samsung’s Duos phones wanting 2012 updates have had to make do with last year’s looks so far. From what’s surfacing through multiple Indian sites, though, Samsung must want to spread some of the Galaxy S III’s modern, nature-influenced style to the Duos’ twin-SIM audience. The Galaxy S Duos S7562 won’t make its bigger sibling jealous with a 4-inch WVGA display, a 1GHz Snapdragon MSM7227A chip or 512MB of RAM, but they’re not the point. As always, the highlight is that pair of SIM slots for carrying both home and work phone lines — or simply mixing and matching prepaid plans. The rest of the hardware falls in line with what’s likely to be a much less expensive smartphone, including a 5-megapixel back camera, a VGA front camera and 4GB of storage. Buyers will be glad to know that Android 4.0 should still be coming along for the ride in addition to that stone-inspired look. We’ve asked Samsung for more official details; there’s talk of an Indian launch before the end of the summer, which (if true) could give the crowds in Bangalore and Mumbai more to look forward to in the fall than just cooler temperatures.
