Samsung unveils designs for its new, upcoming devices

Here’s a sneak peak at a few devices Samsung has planned for us. Samsung has been granted 7 new design patents for several smartphones and 3D glasses. Samsung had also recently been granted patents that showed that the Samsung Galaxy S IV will have 3D-capable camera technology integrated into it. The included pictures below show 4 new devices that Samsung plans on releasing, one of which is supposed to be a Windows 8 device.

Galaxy S4 may come with newly-patented Samsung 3D tech 1

The design above looks like it could possibly represent an upcoming Windows 8 device. According to Patent Bolt, the design looks like it supports Windows “tile” interface. But for all we know, it could be a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7-inch device. Another design shows what appears to be a Samsung phone that will lack both physical and capacitive buttons. It will instead utilize on-screen buttons like the LG Nexus 4 or the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. In the same picture, there is another Samsung device that looks like it will have 4 physical (or capactive) buttons, giving users who hate on-screen buttons another option to choose from. It looks like it will go for the classic Android approach, and have menu, home, back, and search buttons.

One image seems to represent a Windows Phone 8 device as well. The button layout slightly reminds me of the old T-Mobile HTC HD2. The menu and search button are both grouped up in one bar, while the Home and Back buttons are on their own separate islands. However, Samsung could just be testing out a new design for an Android phone, or maybe it’s one of the upcoming Tizen handsets its planning on releasing this year. In the same picture is Samsung’s new design for its 3D glasses.

Judging from these designs, it looks like Samsung is looking to stray away from the the “home button” design featured on the Samsung Galaxy S III, and Samsung Galaxy Note devices. These phones will all most likely fall under the low-tier to mid-tier categories, because it wouldn’t make sense for Samsung to release high-end devices so quickly after the Samsung Galaxy S IV launches. Once we get the details and specs for these devices, we’ll give you an update.

Samsung Teases Galaxy S IV on Twitter Amid Rumors, Leaks

Samsung Teases Galaxy S IV on Twitter Amid Rumors, Leaks

Galaxy S IV rumors and so-called leaked photos and videos have been spreading. And now Samsung itself is showing off its next phone — albeit in shadowy darkness.

Samsung does more viral marketing in Times Square for Galaxy S IV launch

We already know Samsung is going to reveal its next flagship device in New York City, and the company even tweeted last month to join them in Times Square for the launch of the new device. Two days before the big day, Samsung is continuing its viral marketing streak and getting people pumped for the launch of the new phone.

Samsung Mobile tweeted a photo today, but it’s not a teaser for the Galaxy S IV, but rather a picture of Samsung’s dance crew in action. The team of dancers are in Times Square promoting the launch of the new device, and are sporting suit jackets with the number “4″ on the back, along with skin-tight pants and ugly white shoes.

Along with the tweet, Samsung tells us to “be ready 4 #TheNextGalaxy,” which only makes us aggravated even more, since we’ve already been ready for a while now. Either way, come March 14, we’ll see what Samsung unpacks. We’ve already been treated with a wealth of rumors, and if most of them turn out to be true, then we already have a good idea of what to expect.

It’s already said that the Galaxy S IV will come with eye-tracking technology in the form of “Smart Scroll” and “Smart Pause,” where the phone will automatically scroll up and down a page and will also pause a video if your eyes wander off the screen. The phone is also said to come in black and white flavors with up to 64GB of storage.

Video Purports to Show Off Samsung Galaxy S IV

We’re now just two days away from Samsung’s Galaxy S IV announcement, but this video claims to show off the phone ahead of launch. More »

Hands-on video shows off Galaxy S IV test device

This week is when we’ll find out everything we ever wanted to know about the Samsung Galaxy S IV smartphone. The launch event is set to happen in only two days. While Thursday is the day when the smartphone will go official, rumors continue to circulate as fans clamor for more information.

Yesterday some images of a smartphone that looks more like the Galaxy Note II than the Galaxy S IV turned up. While on the outside the phone didn’t look like what we expected, the hardware on the inside lined up with rumors very nicely. That fact led us to believe that we may be looking at a Samsung test mule.

While we had several images of this test device yesterday, we didn’t have the hands-on video. The hands-on video that has turned up appears to be from the same person who took the images we showed you yesterday. In the hands-on video, the person shows you the battery and then spends a little time fiddling with the phone on video.

Considering the soundtrack, it seems like the guy forgot to turn off the TV which is rather annoying. Still, you can see the user interface and a few the applications that are running on the phone. It looks like the device responds quickly and this video will only help stoke the geek lust of all the people out there waiting to get their hands on the S IV. Stay tuned, we will be on hand at the Samsung Unpacked event and will bring you all the details on the S IV as they are unveiled.

Samsung Teases the Galaxy S IV with a Picture Showing the Outline of the Phone

Samsung is going to announce its latest and greatest Android phone, the Samsung Galaxy S IV, on March 14th. We may know what it looks like already. Or we may not. Samsung is throwing all of us another bone by teasing the upcoming S IV by showing us the outline of the phone. It might be the phone we saw earlier today? Which means it looks like it won’t be a huge departure from the design of the S III. We’ll find out soon enough. [@SamsungMobileUS] More »

Samsung teases with cryptic Galaxy S IV picture ahead of March 14 event

Samsung has dropped a teaser picture of its upcoming Galaxy S IV smartphone, which is set to be unveiled at the Korean company’s March 14 event in New York City. The image shows the upper part of the Galaxy handset, which is veiled in shadows and framed by a dark background. The tweet simply announces that the countdown has begun.

Samsung Pictures

Earlier today, we reported that some info, including a patent, has cropped up that indicates the Galaxy S IV may have some type of 3D camera and processing technology. If this is indeed the case, there won’t be a two-camera setup on the handset, but rather it will process images post-shot. Those with an astute eye will have noticed that Samsung made the “4″ on its event invitations 3D, perhaps hinting at this feature.

Likewise, earlier today Samsung also dropped part two of the teaser video it released not too long ago featuring the so-called weird little kid and his box. This time around, the kid takes the box home and opens it up, but instead of getting a glimpse of the Galaxy S IV, we instead see glowing and a whole lot of nothing. The video series will have a part three sometime soon.

For those who don’t know, the Galaxy S IV is said to feature a 4.9-inch 1920 x 1080 AMOLED display boasting increased brightness over past offerings of about 30-percent. Word has it the handset will run a Exynose 5 Octa quad-core processor, as well as Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and TouchWiz. We’ll be covering the March 14 event live from New York, so stay tuned!

Samsung’s weird little kid is back to tease the Galaxy S IV

Remember about a week ago when Samsung teased us with a video featuring a weird little kid (at least that’s what we’re calling him) with a box? He’s back yet again for part deux in Samsung’s “Unpacked” teaser video series. This time, the kid takes the box home to get a better look at what’s inside, but all we see is still just more glowing.

Screen Shot 2013-03-11 at 9.45.55 AM

After getting a peak inside the box at Samsung headquarters, the boy executive takes the box home in anticipation to get a better look at the shiny item that rests inside, but not after being chased down by a love interest and annoyed by his mother who brings him Oreo cookies. Of course, that’s where part two ends and we’re left with yet another “to be continued.”

However, we can only assume that the Galaxy S IV is comfortably nestled inside the box, as that’s what seems to be the consensus here, but we’ll ultimately have to wait and find out on March 14 to see what Samsung comes up with. Our guess is that we’ll see the boy executive on stage with that mysterious white box, where a Samsung exec will pull out the phone to show to all.

Of course, the announcement will come two weeks after Mobile World Congress, one of the world’s largest trade shows specifically focusing on mobile devices, but while Samsung made an appearance at the show, announcing a couple new products, they’ve decided to wait a couple of weeks to announce their flagship product. We’ll be there at Samsung’s event on Thursday giving you the play-by-play. Stay tuned!
