EVLeaks drops alleged Samsung Galaxy S IV specs ahead of launch

The clock is ticking down to when Samsung‘s Galaxy S IV will make its official public debut, but until then we’ve seen a variety of leaks and rumors about the device, with a new one surfacing today. The ever-faithful @evleaks on Twitter has posted two render images purported to be the Galaxy S IV, with one of them listing its specs, which you can check out after the jump.

The two images show off a rather spartan mock-up of the Galaxy S IV’s design, with the first image also including an array of specs that aren’t anything we haven’t seen before. According to the leak, the display will be a full HD Super AMOLED touchscreen, which will have a 4.99-inch display, while storage will be available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB varieties.

The camera is said to be a 13-megapixel unit offering a max resolution of 4,128 x 3,096 pixels, as well as an LED flash and auto focus. There’s 2GB of RAM listed, and it is said to run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. According to a benchmark that surfaced last month, the Galaxy S IV could have a Qualcomm Adreno 320 GPU, while word has it the handset will run a Exynos 5250 processor.

Earlier today, Samsung sent out “Be Ready 4 The Next Galaxy” invitations to its upcoming event in New York City on March 14. Stay tuned to Slashgear – we’ll keep you updated on the handset’s latest info up until the big event, after which point we’ll get our hands on the device to give you a complete rundown of what it has to offer.

Galaxy S IV Gets The Pre-Launch Benchmark Treatment, Complete With Leaked Specs

Screenshot_2013-03-04-16-42-56

The Galaxy S IV, Samsung’s next big flagship smartphone, is only around a week from its public introduction, and it’s getting mighty leaky. Today, the NYT reported that Samsung will be including an eye scrolling feature in the GS IV’s software, and now a set of benchmarks have emerged that supposedly lay bare the smartphone’s complete hardware profile.

Italian site HDBlog.it received word of a record of an Antutu benchmark from the device, which was later also found by SamMobile, and which details the specs associated with the Galaxy S IV supposedly tested. The test results reveal that the smartphone has an Exynos 5410 1.8GHz processor, with an ARM PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU. It was running Android 4.2, had a screen just under 5-inches with a resolution of 1920×1080, and featured a 13-megapixel rear camera, along with Bluetooth 4.0 and capacity of either 16 or 32GB. The display stats line up with what we’ve heard earlier about the Galaxy S IV’s screen, as do the processor details, the amount of on-board memory and camera information.

The chipset supports GSM/WCDMA/LTE networks, which means that unlike previous Galaxy smartphones, this one will be a true worldphone, if these specs prove to be the real deal. The performance results on the GS IV should reassure any users who might have been expecting a less-than-impressive hardware release, following the NYT’s report earlier that the launch event March 14 will focus mostly on software: it easily beats current category leading devices like the Optimus G and Nexus 4, as well as the Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S III.

Samsung Galaxy S IV to come with eye-tracking functionality

The Galaxy S IV announcement — or so we think that’s what we’ll see — is just 10 days away, and the rumors are simply not stopping, nor should we expect them to. The latest one to feast your eyes on is the supposed implementation of eye-tracking technology in the Galaxy S IV, which will allow users to scroll web pages or apps with their own eyeballs.

samsung_galaxy_s_III_review_sg_7-580x43111111

According to the New York Times, the new phone will watch where your eyes are looking and will scroll down the page for you when your eyes reach the bottom. It’s said that Samsung has trademarked the term for this technology and are calling it either “Eye Scroll” or “Eye Pause.” Eye Scroll sounds a lot better, but we’ll see what Samsung does come March 14.

The anonymous source, who is a Samsung employee and was not authorized to speak to media (tisk tisk), didn’t say what technology was being used to track eye movement, and we probably won’t know exactly until the Samsung press conference. However, the source said that software features of the Galaxy S IV will outweigh the importance of the hardware overall.

However, Samsung’s chief product officer, Kevin Packingham, noted that he disagreed that the software would take attention away from the hardware, saying that the rumored device is “an amazing phone.” Of course, we’ll ultimately find out come March 14, but unless the Galaxy S IV comes with better hardware specs than the HTC One or other recent devices, hardware may not really be a huge deal.

NYT: The Galaxy S IV Will Auto-Scroll By Gazing Deep Into Your Eyes

With the Galaxy S IV announcement just barely over a week away, rumors are swirling. But one of the stand-outs, now being confirmed by the New York Times, is that the Galaxy S IV will be able to scroll all by itself, just by looking at your eyes. More »

Samsung Galaxy S4 specifications tease biggest launch in company history

This week we’re seeing more specification theories, leaks, and downright confirmations coming for the Samsung Galaxy S IV (or S4 if you prefer) than this device’s imminent reveal would suggest. The big Samsung “Be Ready 4 The Next Galaxy” invites have been dropped and note a March 14th, 2013 event to be held in Times Square, New York City – if that’s not a massive venue, we don’t know what is. We’ll certainly be there with bells on, but before we get there, let’s have a peek at what we might to see!

With the Samsung Galaxy S III we’re going to see first and foremost a massive 4.99 (or straight up 5) inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. That’s Full HD, if you were wondering, and a pixels per inch ratio that’s on-par with the densest devices on the market today. In contrast you’ll find the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 revealed last week with 189PPI – not too next-level, but still perfectly nice when you’re right up next to it with your face.

Inside you’ll find a real next-level processor in the Exynos 5250. This is Samsung’s quad-core processor -but tips have also suggested that the “OCTA” Exynos processor revealed back during CES 2013 could make its debut here as well. Interestingly enough, we’ve also heard that Qualcomm may be sitting inside. This would follow the trend with the Samsung Galaxy S III working with an Exynos processor outside the USA and Qualcomm taking the reigns inside – here a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 SoC clocked at 1.7Ghz rolling out inside the states.

That same processor exists inside the HTC One revealed less than a month ago. Now we’ve got a real battle on our hands, complete with a 13 megapixel camera on the Galaxy S III to take on the HTC One’s UltraPixel camera technology. The Samsung Galaxy S IV is also being foretold to work with a microSD card slot capable of working with up to 64GB cards and that it’ll be coming in at least two colors: black and white. Of course there will be multiple internal storage size iterations of this device, at least 16, 32, and 64GB versions depending on which carrier you go with – and whatever they offer.

We’ll be having a peek at this device in all its glory soon, and very soon – stick with SlashGear from here until March 14th to see the big bang – and of course afterward when we give it the full once-over in a full review. This device has a lot to live up to, coming after one of the best selling smartphones of all time and continuing the lineup of Samsung’s most successful device ever – get pumped!

Samsung Stays Secretive With Its First Galaxy S IV Teaser Video

lolwut

Now that Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S IV will be revealed in a grand event in New York on March 14, mobile nerds only have one mystery to mull over — what is the damn thing going to look like? Well, Samsung isn’t telling just yet, but it has seen fit to release the first in a series of strange teaser videos for its newest flagship handset.

The clip stars a young lad who, for reasons beyond comprehension, has been entrusted with a carefully packaged Galaxy S IV to tote around in broad daylight — expect the little guy to pop up at the official launch event in just over a week.

Sadly, any of you hoping against hope that Samsung would deign to give us any new info on the GSIV will be very disappointed. All the video really reveals is that the device will fit comfortably inside a 1 ft x 1 ft cube, and that it’s potentially as radiant as, well, whatever was in Marcellus Wallace’s briefcase all those years ago.

The rumored spec sheet paints a slightly more sober portrait of the device — the Galaxy S IV is expected to pack a 4.99-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, one of Samsung’s newfangled Exynos Octa chipsets, 2GB of RAM, and a 13-megapixel camera. It’s hardly a shock, but all those components will be reportedly shoved into another largely plastic chassis (or so says storied Russian leaker Eldar Murtazin, who correctly called the March 14 unveiling date). At this point Samsung is one of the last big Android device players that hasn’t yet unveiled its 2013 flagship phone and that’s probably just the way they like it, but we’ll soon see how devices like HTC’s One, Sony’s Xperia Z, and LG’s Optimus G Pro will fare on the market after Samsung drops its bomb later this month.

Samsung Galaxy S IV to come in black and white, up to 64GB of storage

Samsung’s newest smartphone is about to be announced later this month, most likely the Galaxy S IV, and rumors have obviously been flying off the walls as of late. We already saw some of what Samsung was cooking up at Mobile World Congress earlier this week, but it looks like the company will be pulling the “one last thing” trick come March 14.

gs4-tweet-500x500

The latest in a line of Galaxy S IV rumors is the list of possible models that Samsung will have available of the new device. Rumors suggest that there will be six variants of the Galaxy S IV, and it will come in both black and white color options. As for size capacities, you’ll be able to choose either 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB.

Of course, it’s expected that Samsung will include a microSD card slot with the Galaxy S IV, so opting for the 64GB variant may not be necessary, but if you’re looking for the most storage possible, a 64GB phone combined with a 32GB microSD card means a lot of movies, music, and photos that you can store on that bad boy.

As for specs of the Galaxy S IV, we’re looking at a 5-inch full 1080p display and possibly a 13MP rear camera. On the inside, we might see Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7GHz paired up with 2GB of RAM (with an Exynos 5 chip in the international version). Overall, it should be a powerhouse of a phone that will take on HTC’s latest HTC One and DROID DNA.
