MetroPCS outs Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G 43inch Super AMOLED, LTE and Dyle Mobile TV on board

Well, that didn’t take long. Shortly after showing up in some leaked shots, Samsung’s Galaxy S Lightray 4G is with us yet again, save for this time around it’s an official appearance courtesy of MetroPCS. The underdog carrier’s announced the Lightray 4G will be the latest addition to its lineup of LTE-equipped handsets, with this new Galaxy also said to be the first one to offer speedy hotspot capabilities within the network. Additionally, Sammy’s Lightray features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen, an undisclosed 1GHz processor and access to Dyle Mobile TV’s on-the-go entertainment service — that said, don’t expect an Ice Cream Sandwich here (better yet Jelly Beans), as all you’ll be getting is a taste of Mountain View’s popular Gingerbread. MetroPCS has the Lightray 4G up for grabs now on its site at $460, and for those interested, there’s a photo gallery down below as well as the official presser from the carrier.

Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G hits MetroPCS

Relatively small mobile carrier MetroPCS (at least in comparison to Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile) will be offering the Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G, also known by its model number SCH-R940, to the masses. Images of this particular smartphone was leaked earlier on at Howard Forums, where it was accompanied by its hardware specifications and features. Just in case it looks extremely familiar to you, that is because it shares plenty of similarities with the Samsung Droid Charge from Verizon, whether we are talking about in its physical looks or specifications.

What does the Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G has for you to play around with? We are talking about the 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, a 16GB microSD memory card (which means there is a microSD memory card slot, of course), HDMI-out and Mobile Hotspot capability. In its FCC filing, the Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G was shown to support 4G LTE, of course. Scheduled for a mid-August launch, there is no word on its pricing.
