Samsung Galaxy S2 Might Not Receive Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Due To TouchWiz Issues

Samsung Galaxy S2 Might Not Receive Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Due To TouchWiz IssuesThe Samsung Galaxy S2 is definitely a legendary handset for Samsung, where it really pushed Samsung to the forefront of the smartphone market, being a decent challenger to the iPhone’s dominance at that point in time. Over the years, this handset has managed to keep up with the software update cycles, even when the Galaxy S3, and subsequently, the Samsung Galaxy S4 were released. Well, it does seem as though the Samsung Galaxy S2 might have reached the end of the road where its operating system is concerned, with word that this handset will not be on the receiving end of the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update.

Apparently, the reason cited for this halt in operating system updates is because the TouchWiz layer is not compatible with the update. To put it in plain English, the Samsung Galaxy S2 will be too old for the update, or it could be that the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update is light years ahead of the Galaxy S2 itself. Sorta like how certain new engines cannot be fixed into an old jalopy. Of course, none of this is finalized, but it was just the German site Connect.de that mentioned so.

T-Mobile Galaxy S2 Gets Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update

T Mobile Galaxy S2 Gets Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean UpdateIf you are still rocking on to your old faithful, the smartphone that is better known as the Samsung Galaxy S2, then those of you who are subscribers of T-Mobile and owners of the handset might want to take note that T-Mobile has already updated the Galaxy S2 support page earlier this morning, where Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean has been made available.

Of course, this particular update will remain an optional one, but I do not see any reason not to give it a go. Right now, the only installation method available would be to go through Samsung’s Kies software, so forget about refreshing your handset for an Over The Air (OTA) download. The manual download is known as T989UVMC6 where it will bump up your Android version to 4.1.2, although you would do well to ensure that your Galaxy S2 is fully charged and connected to a local Wi-Fi network instead of relying on your data plan, since the entire update tips the scales at approximately 756MB. A truly great way to start off your Monday, no?

Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100P, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus Start To Receive Android Jelly Bean

Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100P, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus Start To Receive Android Jelly Bean

A number of Samsung manufactured devices have been slowly getting the Android Jelly Bean treatment over the past few months as the Galaxy NoteGalaxy Ace 2 and Galaxy Express have all received their respective updates. Two Samsung Android devices which were introduced nearly two years ago are starting to receive Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean today: The Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus P6200 and the Galaxy S2 i9100P.

In the case of the Galaxy S2 i9100P’s Android Jelly Bean update, it should start becoming available to users as both an over the air update as well as through Samsung Kies. As for the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus P6200, its Android Jelly Bean update is only available in Austria, but Samsung is planning on rolling out support for additional countries in the near future. Considering both the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus feature dual-core processors, it’s unlikely they will go beyond an Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update, which means these two devices are on their last legs in terms of their ability to receive future updates.

Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100G) Owners In Canada Get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT I9100G) Owners In Canada Get Android 4.1 Jelly BeanIf you happen to live in the Great White North, you would have read about how the Galaxy Note 2 has received the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update already recently, and owners of the Galaxy S2 can now rejoice, as their handset, too, will be on the receiving end of this highly anticipated update, at least according to the good people over at SamMobile. Apparently, there were some reports trickling in that their Android 4.0.x Ice Cream Sandwich-powered Galaxy S2 models were making the leap to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, although it will not be the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean that recently rolled out for the GSM models of the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10.

With this Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update, do expect to see your fair share of user interface enhancements in addition to stability improvements alongside a bunch of other new features such as Google Now and Project Butter. Not only that, a spanking new Notification bar is thrown into the mix with additional notification toggles. If you have already updated your Galaxy S2 and given it a new lease of life, how do you find the update so far?

Galaxy S2 In Korea Gets Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update

Galaxy S2 In Korea Gets Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update Hmmm, first our friends living in the Great White North received the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for their Galaxy Note 2, and here we are with word that the very same update will be hitting the Korean version of the Galaxy S2, also known as SHW-M250K if model numbers are your cup of tea.

For starters, here is a little bit of history for those who are interested. The Galaxy S2 holds the record of being the best-selling Android-powered device in the year 2011, and needless to say, it has its fair share of users who have yet to make the upgrade to a newer handset (which Samsung would naturally hope they make the jump to the Galaxy S3), which is why Samsung has continued to offer updates for the Galaxy S2 with each new Android iteration so that Galaxy S2 owners will be on the receiving end of the best support experience.

It is said that you are able to update your Galaxy S2 (SHW-M250K) via Samsung KIES, but do ensure that your handset has a full charge before doing so, as the entire update does seem to be rather large in size. After all, it is always better to err on the side of caution.

Samsung Galaxy S2 Receives Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update

galaxy s2 jb Samsung Galaxy S2 Receives Android 4.1 Jelly Bean UpdateFor those of you who have managed to resist upgrading your smartphone to the Samsung Galaxy S3 from the Samsung Galaxy S2, here is some good news for you – in the month of February, you would be able to receive the official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S2, now how about that? According to the folks over at CNet, a Samsung spokesperson claimed that those living in Singapore will receive this update early next month, and once that happens, other markets should not have to wait too long, really.

Of course, we are talking about a universal update for the Samsung Galaxy S2, as not only the i9100 will be on the receiving end, but also other versions of the Galaxy S2 as well, including those in the US such as AT&T’s i777 and T-Mobile’s T989. Well, with 40 million Samsung Galaxy S2’s roaming around the globe, this is going to be one popular update.

Samsung Manages To Sell Over 100 Million Galaxy S Devices

sgs100k Samsung Manages To Sell Over 100 Million Galaxy S DevicesIt is no secret that Samsung’s Galaxy S-series of Android handsets are its most popular out of the lot. Kicking things off with the first Galaxy S device, followed by the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S3, and come 2013 it is safe to say that the Galaxy S4 will be one of the most highly-anticipated smartphones of the year. That being said, Samsung has announced that they have hit a milestone which is that they have managed to sell over 100 million Galaxy S devices to date. We’re guessing that the 30 million Galaxy S3 units sold probably contributed to that, especially since they managed to hit those figures within 5 months of it going on sale – a pretty impressive feat no doubt! With Samsung more than likely announcing the Galaxy S4 later this year, we can only expect those numbers to go up even further. What do you guys think? Which Samsung Galaxy S device is your favorite to date? I know some people who actually prefer the Galaxy S2 over the Galaxy S3 – let us know in the comments below!

Trade In Value Of A Broken iPhone 4S Is Apparently The Same As A Near-Mint Galaxy S2

gazelle 2013 trade in ces 640x480 Trade In Value Of A Broken iPhone 4S Is Apparently The Same As A Near Mint Galaxy S2When I traded in my iPhone 3GS of two and a half years, I managed to get a pretty good price for it, especially considering the home button was a bit wonky and some of the chrome on the edges were chipped and the back was pretty scratched up. However when I decided to trade in my Blackberry Bold 9900 which was used for less than half a year, the price I got for it was equivalent to the iPhone 3GS despite it being much newer and being in much, much better condition. Given the popularity of Apple’s iPhone devices, we guess some customers are willing to own an old and battered up iPhone for the sake of it, and interestingly according to the folks at popular trade in website, Gazelle, it seems that the value of a broken iPhone 4S with a completely shattered display is worth as much, if not slightly more, than an almost-mint condition Samsung Galaxy S2 or Galaxy Nexus. This is pretty interesting considering that all three phones were released in 2011, not to mention that the buyer will probably need to fork out even more money to get the phone fixed up, but we guess this just goes to show the lengths and the price some people are willing to pay to own an Apple iOS device (think the selling of kidneys and virginities).
