Tizen 3.0 Spotted On The Samsung Galaxy S3

Tizen 3.0 Spotted On The Samsung Galaxy S3

The other day we spotted Samsung’s Tizen 3.0 operating system running on the Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone, and now thanks to newly leaked images (via Tizen Experts), Tizen 3.0 can be seen running on the Samsung Galaxy S3. The photos don’t show anything new, other than the operating system running on a different device, but for those seeing this for the first time, it is a stark departure from the TouchWiz UI that Samsung typically employs with its Galaxy lineup of Android devices. However some are calling the Tizen 3.0 UI a rip-off of Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system, although with the smartphone market being somewhat mature, “borrowing” ideas from other operating systems is starting to become a trend.

While the operating system itself does look pretty good, it is unclear as to when Samsung plans to launch their first Tizen device. We had heard the first Tizen device was pegged for an October release, although newer rumors have suggested that Samsung’s own CEO pushed for a delay, apparently due to wanting to create “the best smartphone”. Given that this will be the first Tizen smartphone from Samsung, possibly as a means to reduce their reliance on Google’s Android operating system, we expect Samsung will want to get it right the first time which will hopefully set a precedent for future Tizen devices. In any case what do you guys think? Like what you see so far? Or do you think it’s too much of a Windows Phone rip-off?

Android 4.3 For Galaxy S3 And Galaxy S4 Coming This October

Android 4.3 For Galaxy S3 And Galaxy S4 Coming This OctoberThe Android 4.3 update was announced a few weeks ago. It is not a major platform update by any measure, that’s going to be the next update, which is called Android 4.4 KitKat. The first devices to receive this update were obviously Google’s Nexus branded smartphone and tablets. Other manufacturers are yet to roll out Android 4.3 for their devices. At its Unpacked event today Samsung made a number of product announcement. It unveiled the Galaxy Gear, Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy Note 3, which is actually the first smartphone to ship with Android 4.3, according to Samsung. The company provided a release timeframe of Android 4.3 for Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4, the update is slated to drop this October.

It is said that the Android 4.3 update will finally add the functionally required to make its new smartwatch, Galaxy Gear, work with its flagship Android smartphone. Still, despite having provided a timeframe, Samsung didn’t exactly say when the update will be rolled out next month. The release might end up taking additional time, seeing as how carriers will first put the update through its paces before it is released. Those who don’t have carrier locked versions will receive the update directly from Samsung, without any significant delays.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Tops iPhone 5 In Customer Satisfaction Survey

Samsung Galaxy S3 Tops iPhone 5 In Customer Satisfaction SurveyApple’s iPhone 5 is currently the company’s latest smartphone, but for Samsung, the Galaxy S4 is their latest device but interestingly it seems that in a recent customer satisfaction survey conducted by the American Customer Satisfaction Index, the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 managed to top Apple’s iPhone 5, beating out the device by a mere 2 points. Apple has managed to maintain a score of above 80 for all of its products, but ultimately it looks like Samsung’s products have managed to outdo them which we’re pretty sure Apple is not too happy about.

According to ASCI’s director, David VanAmburg, “Not only does Samsung edge ahead of all iPhones, Apple customers themselves don’t see much difference between the iPhone 4, 4S, or 5 […] The latest earnings report from Apple was better than expected, but the name of the game for Apple has always been innovation. Samsung, on the other hand, shows a strong upward ACSI trend from the Galaxy S II to the Galaxy S III. If the S4 performs as well — or even better — in the eyes of customers, Samsung could threaten Apple’s dominance in overall customer satisfaction.”

What do you guys think? It’s admittedly a pretty close match but will Apple be able to knock Samsung off from the top position, or will Samsung pull further away from Apple in the future?

AT&T Galaxy S3 Premium Suite Upgrade Released

AT&T Galaxy S3 Premium Suite Upgrade Released

The Android 4.1 update for AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 was released back in December. That update was different from Samsung’s “premium suite” upgrade which brings a host of additional features such as multi-window. A little over two months ago the Verizon Galaxy S3 received its very own premium suite upgrade, AT&T was left out of the fray once again. Today is the big day though, the day when AT&T Galaxy S3 premium suite upgrade is rolled out to users all across the U.S.

The upgrade brings features such as multi-window, which lets users open two apps simultaneously in two different windows. There are a host of calendar, SD card and S-Voice enhancements onboard as well. The camera gets Auto Share Shot mode, which lets users share their videos and photos by tapping their Galaxy S3 with other NFC or S Beam enabled devices. A number of new AT&T apps have been added as well. Android OS version gets bumped to Android 4.1.2. Apart from all of this, expect the usual slew of bug fixes and performance improvements. AT&T starts rolling out the update today.

Best Buy Exchanges Working Cellphone For Galaxy S3

Best Buy Exchanges Working Cellphone For Galaxy S3 I am tempted to say that Best Buy is giving out a free Samsung Galaxy S3, but when you take into consideration that one would have to exchange a working cellphone with the retailer, then technically speaking, it is not really “free” in the first place, right? Right now, Best Buy seems to be offering the Samsung Galaxy S3 as part of their trade-in deals, clearly moving to the South Korean manufacturer’s side instead of Apple this time around. Previously, it was the iPhone and iPad which were part of such a deal.

In a nutshell, if you have anything older than the Galaxy S3, and would like to make the jump to the Galaxy S3 (which is one generation behind the existing Samsung flagship), then all you need to do is drop by one of its 1,400 store locations and perform the trade in, or pick up a $50 credit instead toward a new Samsung handset. This offer would end on August 3rd, so early bird, early worm and all that jazz. You know the drill, what are you waiting for?
