Samsung Galaxy S3 To Get Some Galaxy S4 Features?

Samsung Galaxy S3 To Get Some Galaxy S4 Features?
Everyone must have been pretty optimistic over Android’s future with the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S4 yesterday evening, and it does lead us to the question – what would then happen to the Samsung Galaxy S3, the outgoing flagship model? The answer would be this – it will still hang around for some time, and if Samsung has their way, the South Korean conglomerate would also bring along non-hardware dependent features on the Galaxy S4 over to the Galaxy S3.

I guess with that, we can more or less rule out stuff like Air View that requires special hardware to make the smartphone sense just when and where your finger is hovering right above the display, and neither will we see a smart TV remote app since there is no integrated IR blaster in the Galaxy S3. As for the S Health fitness tracker app, forget about it, since the Galaxy S3 misses out on a built-in pedometer. Chances are there that we will see camera features and an improved eye tracking functionality thrown in, and why not venture forward and claim that the Galaxy Note 2, too, will also be a beneficiary of advances made in the Galaxy S4 down the road?

Samsung Galaxy S3 Refresh Coming (Rumor)

Samsung Galaxy S3 Refresh Coming (Rumor)So, we did hear of T-Mobile’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 with LTE connectivity arriving at the FCC recently, but what is this bit of news that have made its rounds? The Samsung Galaxy S3 does seem to have some legs left to run in the smartphone race, where Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin who has gotten his fair share of leaks correct in the past, tweeted about a refresh in the Galaxy S3 hardware that will certainly send the current generation flagship (at least for two more days, that is) into legendary territory.

Eldar Murtazin claims that the 2100mAh battery on the original Samsung Galaxy S3 will no longer exist, as a spanking new 2400mAh battery will take its place. Not only that, there were hints of an improved display, although it remains to be seen what kind of technology will Samsung pack in this time. Wireless charging capability will also be part of the deal, but will such news actually make headway with the whole world looking forward to the Galaxy S4 instead?

Monster Watts rolls out wireless chargers for Galaxy S3

Ever heard of Monster Watts before? They sure as heck sound as though they were a company that rolled out audio products, no? Well, Monster Watts is an innovator of power accessories that will cater for both sides of the divide, and I am referring to both Apple and Samsung cmaps here. This time around, the favor lies on folks who prefer to put their weight behind the Samsung brand name, as Monster Watts has a trio of wireless chargers which were specially thought up of for the Samsung Galaxy S3.

I know, most of you out there would be looking forward to nothing but the Samsung Galaxy S4 this coming March 14th, but in the meantime, do remember that the Galaxy S3 still remains the flagship smartphone for Samsung. At least for a couple more days, that is! Having said that. the Samsung Galaxy S3 has been considered by certain quarters to be the most advanced wireless phone to date, but for what it is worth, it still needs to be plugged in to a power outlet whenever its battery levels plummet south.

With Monster Watts’ trio of wireless chargers for the Galaxy S3, you no longer need to fumble with messy cables at night, and neither will you pull the charger out of the wall to answer a call, by accident, break the connector or drop the phone. No sir, kiss those incidences goodbye, as your Galaxy S3 will now gain wireless charging capability within seconds.

Of course, you still have the choice of falling back to the standard issue wall charger if the need arises, but that is entirely your choice. The first Stealth wireless receiver and charger set is a snap to install, as the former is ultra-thin and fits under the S3’s existing back cover without much fuss, retailing for $68 a pop. As for the second Simple wireless receiver back cover and charger set, it is also easy to install, adding around 1 mm to the thickness and will retail for $98. The third Super Pack model will come in the form of an external case that has a built-in wireless receiver and rechargeable back up battery, requiring you to slide the Galaxy S3 into it, and it will be the most expensive of the lot at $118.

T-Mobile’s Galaxy S3 LTE Model Hits The FCC

T Mobile’s Galaxy S3 LTE Model Hits The FCCI know that most of the world is looking forward to the Samsung Galaxy S4 in the upcoming Samsung Unpacked event that is happening in New York City later this coming March 14th, but spare a thought for its soon-to-be outdated predecessor, the Galaxy S3. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has proven to be phenomenally successful across many markets, and it arrives in the form of several variants, including an LTE-capable model which will eventually arrive on T-Mobile, especially after we have seen the T-Mobile Galaxy S3 with LTE support hitting the FCC.

Sporting the model number T999 originally (makes it sound a whole lot cooler as though it represented one of those killer Terminator robots, no?), a new T999L model number has been caught in the wild for some time now, with the “L” suffix seemingly pointing towards LTE connectivity. It does seem as though the LTE-capable version of the Galaxy S3 will be arriving on T-Mobile very, very soon – less than a month, actually. Will you pick this up, or would you rather make the straight jump to the Galaxy S4?

Ubuntu Touch Ported To Galaxy S3

Ubuntu Touch Ported To Galaxy S3When you talk about the Samsung Galaxy S3, most folks would definitely be able to identify with this particular flagship smartphone from the South Korean company, and the main point it makes? It is an Android-powered device. I guess if you ever wanted to muck around someone’s head, then it would be a good idea to check out just how this Samsung Galaxy S3 is able to run a copy of Ubuntu Touch Preview. Just what the heck is Ubuntu Touch Preview? Well, it comprises of a pre-release version of Canonical’s upcoming Ubuntu operating system that will run on tablets as well as smartphones.

Recently, builds that were able to be installed onto the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4 smartphones were released earlier in the week, not to mention for the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablet as well. It seems that Ubuntu Touch Preview is not limited to just the aforementioned devices, as a bunch of independent developers found out that this Linux-based operating system can also work on the aged Samsung Galaxy S3.

Samsung Targets iPhone, BlackBerry In Business-Focused Commercial

Commercials for Samsung’s Galaxy devices are usually spent bashing the competition, that is unless it’s changing your perception of Mrs. Claus. They’ve recently bashed the iPhone 5, and are once again setting their sights on Apple’s smartphone, as well as RIM’s BlackBerry devices.

The new Samsung commercial was created to hopefully change the minds of business users who have trusted their business needs to a BlackBerry device, while at the same time, throwing iPhone users in there who separate their business and personal phones while at the workplace. At one point in the commercial, an extremely cool employee was able to use his Galaxy Note 2 to conduct business and watch a basketball game, while his boring cubicle mate continue to praise his BlackBerry device.

We could see why Samsung would go after Apple’s iPhone in their previous commercials, but we think their kicking a dead horse, especially when that horse reported a $114m loss just last month, is a bit much. Maybe they came up with the idea for this commercial fearing what RIM has up its sleeve with BlackBerry 10?

Samsung Manages To Sell Over 100 Million Galaxy S Devices

sgs100k Samsung Manages To Sell Over 100 Million Galaxy S DevicesIt is no secret that Samsung’s Galaxy S-series of Android handsets are its most popular out of the lot. Kicking things off with the first Galaxy S device, followed by the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S3, and come 2013 it is safe to say that the Galaxy S4 will be one of the most highly-anticipated smartphones of the year. That being said, Samsung has announced that they have hit a milestone which is that they have managed to sell over 100 million Galaxy S devices to date. We’re guessing that the 30 million Galaxy S3 units sold probably contributed to that, especially since they managed to hit those figures within 5 months of it going on sale – a pretty impressive feat no doubt! With Samsung more than likely announcing the Galaxy S4 later this year, we can only expect those numbers to go up even further. What do you guys think? Which Samsung Galaxy S device is your favorite to date? I know some people who actually prefer the Galaxy S2 over the Galaxy S3 – let us know in the comments below!

Galaxy S3 Software Update Fixes Exynos 4 Vulnerability

s3 fix Galaxy S3 Software Update Fixes Exynos 4 VulnerabilityIt was just yesterday when Samsung made available a new software update known as I9300XXELLA to their flagship Galaxy S3, and it has been confirmed by those who have already installed this particular update that it will be able to remedy whatever issues and vulnerabilities that the Exynos 4 was exposed to earlier. The security flaw that was located in the kernel that made the device R/W by all users, apps as well as gave access to full Physical Memory, has been fixed to cut the long story short.

Now that this particular security loophole has been patched, does it mean that the sudden death issue which we talked about earlier this year has also been fixed? Perhaps, but there has been no confirmation on the ground just yet that this issue has been resolved, and we can only stay still and look towards Samsung for a full and official statement on the situation. We hang on with dogged anticipation towards a future software update, and hope that once and for all, all major issues surrounding the Galaxy S3 would be squashed. For good.
