Samsung Galaxy S3 Random Shutdown Fix

samsung galaxy s3 review 39 640x426 Samsung Galaxy S3 Random Shutdown FixThere were reports of the Samsung Galaxy S3, despite being one of the better selling smartphones out there in the market, is not free from its flaws, where one of them included randomly dying which is definitely one of the more irritating experiences to go through as a smartphone user. At least if you know of certain ways to avoid your smartphone running into certain issues, that is livable to a certain extent, but not to get fair warning on what could trigger a random shutdown is downright annoying. Users who experienced this with the Galaxy S3 figured out that the flash memory in the handset was becoming corrupt and failing, hence resulting in the device’s mainboard to die.

It seemed that devices were able to last between 150 and 200 days before giving up the digital ghost permanently, where Samsung would then replace them without asking any further questions. Dutch site Tweakers claimed that the issue can be traced to a problem in the firmware, and this bug can easily be squashed with but a minor update. Apparently, this issue is not widespread, but has affected only a very limited number of Galaxy S3 owners that have the 16GB model.

Is the Samsung SGH-T999L an LTE Galaxy S3 for T-Mobile?

samsung galaxy s3 review 10 640x426 Is the Samsung SGH T999L an LTE Galaxy S3 for T Mobile? Thanks to a recent sighting at the Bluetooth SIG website, a certain Samsung SGH-T999L has been sighted. Considering that the SGH-T999 is T-Mobile’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S3, the inclusion of the “L” at the end of the name has some speculating that perhaps this might be the LTE version of the Galaxy S3 designated for T-Mobile’s network. At the moment T-Mobile is the only  one of the four major carriers not to offer LTE. The carrier has plans to launch LTE networks in 2013 with upgrades already underway, so having a LTE version of the Galaxy S3 on their networks does make sense to a certain degree – not to mention it could be a way to attract customers by using one of Android’s most popular devices of 2012.

However since nothing has been confirmed yet, perhaps we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves. Not to mention with the Samsung Galaxy S4 presumably launching in 2013 as well, and unless this alleged LTE version of the Galaxy S3 launches early 2013, does T-Mobile need an LTE Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy S4 at the same time (assuming T-Mobile offers the Galaxy S4, of course)? Either way what do you guys think? Would you like to see a LTE-enabled Galaxy S3 being offered by T-Mobile?

Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 targeted by Apple lawsuit

In a move that won’t surprise many observers, Apple has updated its ongoing infringement lawsuits with Samsung to add six products: the Galaxy S3 (Android 4.1+), Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Rugby Pro and Galaxy S3 mini.

Here’s Apple’s point of view, as written in the filing: “Apple has acted quickly and diligently to determine that these newly-released products do infringe many of the same claims already asserted by Apple”. Of course, Samsung denies infringing on Apple’s patents and the company has filed its own patent infringement lawsuit against Apple, targeting the iPhone 5. (more…)

Dual-SIM Samsung Galaxy S3 spotted in China

While most of us are happy with just the one phone, there are some who need multiple lines for work or personal reasons, and thanks to  dual-SIM phones, it is no longer necessary to carry two phones wherever you go. However so far most dual-SIM phones aren’t exactly the most powerful in terms of hardware although they do get the job done, but if you’re in the market for a dual-SIM smartphone with some pretty impressive specs, it looks like Samsung will be giving China some love in the form of a dual-SIM Galaxy S3.

The dual-SIM version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be joining the dual-SIM Galaxy Note 2 announced not too long ago. The device will sport the model number SCH-i939D and will support one GSM SIM card, and one CDMA SIM card which will be handy for those who subscribe to China Telecom’s network. Apart from that, the only main difference between this dual-SIM model and the regular Samsung Galaxy S3 is that this phone will come preinstalled with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, but besides that the hardware internals will remain the same. We doubt this dual-SIM Galaxy S3 will be making its way outside of China, but who wouldn’t mind getting their hands on it?

T-Mobile rolling out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the Samsung Galaxy S3

Do you own the Samsung Galaxy S3 on T-Mobile’s network? Well the good news is that it seems that T-Mobile is finally pushing out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for your phone! This is certainly good news as not too long ago, a Samsung spokesperson was quoted as saying that Jelly Bean updates for the US-based Galaxy S3 smartphones could only arrive in 2013. This was despite the fact that the update had already begun rolling out in other parts of the world. Then again given that updates in the US usually have to go through the carriers first, this delay was to be expected. In any case there have been reports of several users who have begun downloading the update, so do keep your eyes peeled for the notification before firing up the KIES software. If you have already received the update, let us know in the comments below on how it is treating you!

Samsung Galaxy S3 to be offered for 96 cents on Black Friday?

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is one of the more popular smartphones these days, with the device being used as a comparison against Apple’s iPhone 5. That being said it packs some pretty impressive hardware under the hood, making it a smartphone in high demand. Unfortunately its high demand and its impressive hardware has it pegged at “high-end”, which means that if you wanted to get your hands on the device, you have to be prepared to pay a premium. Well that’s what Black Friday is for, right? It seems that thanks to what looks like a flyer for Sam’s Club, come Black Friday they will be offering the Samsung Galaxy S3 for under a dollar – 96 cents to be exact! Of course this will require you to be tied to a carrier, although there was no mention as to which carriers will be participating in this deal. Unfortunately this deal also appears to be valid in-store only which means that you will probably need to start lining up early if you want in on this deal!
