Galaxy S4 LTE-A International Variant Stops By The FCC

Galaxy S4 LTE A International Variant Stops By The FCC

Samsung has released a handful of variants of its latest Android flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4. A few months ago we heard rumors for the first time that Samsung had a “faster” Galaxy S4 up its sleeve. This particular model was said to have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor as opposed to the Snapdragon 600 processor on the model that had already been released. Its because this one has LTE-Advanced support, which can theoretically offer data speeds of up to 150 mbps. The variant was only released in South Korea initially since the country’s LTE-A network was switched on, but it appears that Samsung might be launching it in other markets as well.

LTE-A networks aren’t common right now, though carriers in the U.S. are getting themselves ready to flip the switch in months to come. This particular Galaxy S4, model GT-I9506, will not only offer LTE-A connectivity, it will also offer increased performance due to its beefier processor. Users can expect a 20 to 30 percent performance increase as opposed to the Snapdragon 600 processor based variants. There’s no word as yet on when Samsung will roll out this device in other markets, particularly in the U.S. FCC approval means that the company is certainly gearing up for a launch in the near future.
