Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini La Fleur Edition Is In The Pipeline

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini La Fleur Edition Is In The PipelineWhat do you think of special editions when it comes to hardware such as smartphones and tablets? Recently, we did talk about a Hello Kitty edition of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 tablet, and this time around, the folks over at Samsung do seem to be interested in working on a La Fleur Edition of its Galaxy S4 Mini. Of course, the La Fleur edition is nothing new at all, as we have already seen similar of such special editions introduced in the form of the Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, Samsung Galaxy S Duos, and the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2.

SamMobile claims that the S4 Mini La Fleur will be introduced to the masses before the holiday season, where it will arrive first in red. In all probability, it will not be a global launch, which means it ought to hit only select markets. Just like the original Galaxy S4 Mini that you see above in a lovely shade of purple, the La Fleur Edition ought to come in both single SIM and dual SIM versions. In terms of its hardware specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini La Fleur should be similar to the standard model, and it will most probably arrive with a version of Android Jelly Bean in tow that will hopefully be upgradeable to Android 4.4 KitKat, apart from a 4.3″ Super AMOLED qHD display, a 1.9-megapixel front facing camera, an 8-megapixel shooter at the back with an LED flash, a dual-core 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1.5GB RAM, 8GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, and a 1,900 mAh battery.

Galaxy S4 Mini With Dual Mode LTE Stops By The FCC

Galaxy S4 Mini With Dual Mode LTE Stops By The FCC

Just last week Samsung announced the dual mode LTE variants of both the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy S4 mini. The latter has stopped by the FCC to get its radio approved, a customary process before the device can be sold to customers. It remains to be seen in which particular markets the dual mode LTE variants are launched. No information is available as yet regarding the pricing and availability of both smartphones. The FCC filing indicates that this model, GT-I9197, is for Optus, an Australian carrier.

Two types of LTE standards are largely found in various parts of the world, TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE. These two Samsung devices are actually the first commercial devices that are capable of seamlessly shifting between both LTE standards, so users have uninterrupted voice and data communications wherever they might be. FDD-LTE standard is the most common around the globe, whereas TDD-LTE is expected to see increased adoption in certain parts of the world such as the U.S., China, Middle East, Australian as well as Northern and Eastern Europe. The launch is usually imminent once a device hits the FCC, so these devices could begin shipping in the very near future. [Image via Sammobile]

Leaked photos: Samsung’s Galaxy S4 Mini is headed to Verizon

Leaked photos show Samsung's Galaxy S4 Mini heading to Verizon

Here is it: the Galaxy S4 Mini… for Verizon? As of now, Samsung’s smaller Galaxy S4 sibling is an international-only device; in other words, no US carriers have officially signed on to offer it. That said, a Samsung SCH-i435 recently made its way into the Bluetooth SIG’s website, and those who follow VZW’s classifications of Samsung products are all-too-familiar with the “SCH” prefix. Of course, a handful of leaked photos can’t confirm a release date nor a price, but if it’s already popping up with that label on the rear, surely the wait won’t be much longer. Hop on past the break for a side-by-side shot with an iPhone 5.

Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 mini Arrives With World’s First TDD-LTE And FDD-LTE Seamless Handover Technology

Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 mini Arrives With World’s First TDD LTE And FDD LTE Seamless Handover Technology It was yesterday when we brought you word that there is a very real possibility of South Korean consumer electronics giant Samsung has plans to introduce the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 mini with dual mode LTE sometime in Q3 2013. Well, what we saw in the news here would be Samsung being at the forefront of technological advancements yet again, having announced the world’s first commercial devices capable of TDD-LTE (Time-Division Duplex) and FDD-LTE (Frequency Division Duplex) seamless handover technology. Samsung has plans to roll out TDD/FDD Dual Mode LTE versions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy S4 mini which will enable continuous and seamless voice and data communications never mind that the devices switch between two different types of LTE networks.

Most of the global LTE market will be based on FDD-LTE technology, while TDD-LTE happens to be an alternative LTE technology that is tipped to see an increased rate of adoption in the US, China, Australia, Middle East, Northern and Eastern Europe, and Southwest Asia. Hence, it makes perfect sense to have a seamless handover between FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE networks for future smartphones, so why not start with their flagship and a gimped down version of the flagship? It is, after all, good business sense to ride a potential wave. [Press Release]

Galaxy S4 And Galaxy S4 Mini With Dual Mode LTE Expected To Release In Q3

Galaxy S4 And Galaxy S4 Mini With Dual Mode LTE Expected To Release In Q3

Samsung is apparently not done with releasing variants of its latest flagship Android smartphone. There’s the conventional Galaxy S4, then there’s a Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 Zoom and a “faster” Galaxy S4 with LTE-A support. According to a new report, the company might be releasing new variants of its Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini smartphones in the third quarter of this year. The only difference in these new variants will reportedly be support for dual mode LTE.

Dual mode LTE capability would be particularly useful for those who travel a lot. It allows the device to switch between TDD and FDD LTE 4G networks. FDD LTE networks are the common standard in a lot of countries around the world, whereas adoption of TDD LTE is said to increase in the U.S., Australia and China in the near future. The adoption is also likely to increase in regions such as Southwest Asis, the Middle East as well as Northern and Eastern Europe. It is said that Samsung will release the new variants of both Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini worldwide in Q3, 2013.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini review: small in size, but not worth the mega price

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini review: small in size, but not worth the mega price

Despite how the saying goes, bigger isn’t always better — and that’s especially true in the mobile industry, where companies have produced smartphones with larger and larger screens. While that does seem to be the latest trend, a few manufacturers haven’t forgotten that there are a ton of smartphone users out there who prefer using something that actually fits in the palm of their hand. Unfortunately, those folks don’t have a flagship Android device to call their own, but Samsung is hopeful that its latest 4.3-inch beauty, the Galaxy S4 Mini, will at least suffice as a solid middle-tier option. But will shoppers be bothered by the fact that it lacks many of the top-end components we enjoy on devices like the Samsung GS4? Our friends at Negri Electronics, who are selling the device for $520, were kind enough to let us have some one-on-one time with the petite handset. Read on to get our take.
