Galaxy Gear’s Basic Functions Already Compatible With Galaxy S4

When it unveiled the Galaxy Gear, Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 earlier this month, Samsung said that its new smartwatch is currently only compatible with the new Note phablet and tablet. It said that support for Galaxy S4 and other devices will come after Android 4.3 update for them is released, which is expected to happen next month. However, it appears that the basic functions of Galaxy Gear are already functional with the Galaxy S4, regardless of the fact that the official update that is going to bring compatibility hasn’t been released yet.

A video has surfaced online which shows off the Galaxy Gear’s basic functions working fine with the Galaxy S4. The smartwatch connects to the smartphone without any problem. Basic functions such as changing clock theme, reminder alerts, picture transfer and control of music playing on the smartphone all work. However, at this point in time, app support only appears to be working with the Galaxy Note 3. Regardless, the new smartwatch already offers basic connectivity with the Galaxy S4 right now. Samsung has reportedly started testing the Android 4.3 update for Galaxy S4 and other devices, it is expected to release the update, which will bring Galaxy Gear compatibility in its entirety, next month.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Might Arrive In A Gold Finish

Samsung Galaxy S4 Might Arrive In A Gold FinishIs Samsung following in Apple’s footsteps this time around? After all, it was Apple that unveiled the gold colored iPhone 5s recently which certainly impressed in terms of its initial sales figures. Here we are with word from the South Korean conglomerate via its social feeds which point to two new colors for the Samsung Galaxy S4 – which would arrive in a shade of gold pink as well as another looking good in gold brown.

It seems as though Apple’s iPhone 5s will no longer be the only flagship smartphone around that will arrive with a gold finish, eh? Of course, it makes perfect sense for the social feeds from Samsung’s Middle East division that announced both the Gold Pink and Gold Brown Galaxy S4 smartphones. These pink and brown handsets will arrive with a gold-colored backplate, and apart from the cosmetic change, it more or less has a similar design in addition to everything underneath the hood remaining the same as a vanilla Galaxy S4. So far, pricing and availability details remain to be known, but it does seem to be a Middle East exclusive as at press time. Do you think it will catch on, these two colors? After all, the folks in the Middle East can definitely afford real gold on their smartphones…

Of Course Samsung Is Now Making A Gold GS4

I’m going to try to write this without mentioning the gold iPhone 5s.

Samsung just took the wraps off of two gold-themed Galaxy S4 smartphones: Gold Pink and Gold Brown. Both options are seemingly cosmetic updates to Samsung’s Android flagship.

    I can’t do it.

This news comes just two weeks after Apple revealed the gold iPhone 5s. And if recent reports are correct, the demand for the gold version is higher than Apple expected. Of course Samsung wanted in on the action.

To Samsung’s credit, planning and announcing a smartphone cannot happen in two weeks. Not even for Samsung. But Samsung likely follows the Apple rumor mill even more closely than the fanboys and likely knew with a high degree of certainty that a gold iPhone was in the pipeline. Samsung had plenty of time to prep their own model.

So far, Samsung is only showing this off to the United Arab Emirates market. As The Verge points out, Nokia also offered a gold phone there. It’s unclear at this point if the model will hit elsewhere. Samsung is likely looking to Apple and the iPhone 5s to make that decision for them.

Just two weeks after Apple announced the gold iPhone 5s, Samsung has jumped on the bandwagon with a

Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Screenshot Leaked

At its Unpacked event earlier this month Samsung announced that Android 4.3 update for Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3 will be released next month. A concrete release date for the official update has not been provided. A screenshot of Android 4.3 build XXUBMA8 running on Galaxy S4 has surfaced online, the device in question is the octa-core i9500 model. Android 4.3 isn’t a major update by any measure, though it is expected to bring a couple of new features from the Galaxy Note 3, apart from the performance and stability improvements, always-on Wi-Fi scanning for location reporting, OpenGL 3.0 and more.

Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 update will finally bring support for the Galaxy Gear smartwatch to the smartphone. Right now, only the Galaxy Note 3 is compatible with Samsung’s new smartwatch. Google announced the Android 4.3 update last month, as previously mentioned, its not exactly a major update. Many had expected that the company will say something about the next Android version, which many believed to be Key Lime Pie. Earlier this month, Google announced out of the blue that the next Android version, Android 4.4, is going to be called KitKat, which is a result of a partnership between Mountain View and Switzerland’s Nestle, the company that makes KitKat chocolates. Android 4.3 For Galaxy S3 And Galaxy S4 Coming This OctoberThe Android 4.3 update was announced a few weeks ago. It is not a major platform update by any measure, that’s going to be the next update, which is called Android 4.4 KitKat. The first devices to receive this update were obviously Google’s Nexus branded smartphone and tablets. Other manufacturers are yet to roll out Android 4.3 for their devices. At its Unpacked event today Samsung made a number of product announcement. It unveiled the Galaxy Gear, Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy Note 3, which is actually the first smartphone to ship with Android 4.3, according to Samsung. The company provided a release timeframe of Android 4.3 for Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4, the update is slated to drop this October.

It is said that the Android 4.3 update will finally add the functionally required to make its new smartwatch, Galaxy Gear, work with its flagship Android smartphone. Still, despite having provided a timeframe, Samsung didn’t exactly say when the update will be rolled out next month. The release might end up taking additional time, seeing as how carriers will first put the update through its paces before it is released. Those who don’t have carrier locked versions will receive the update directly from Samsung, without any significant delays.
