Samsung Galaxy S5 Could Be Dustproof And Waterproof [Rumor]

Samsung Galaxy S5 Could Be Dustproof And Waterproof [Rumor]If there was a theme that Sony had going for them in 2013, it was that for the most part, their Xperia lineup of phones were both dustproof and waterproof, starting with the Sony Xperia Z which was launched during CES 2013. While these features might not necessarily make or break a decision to purchase a device, they are pretty handy and we’re sure many will be thankful should they ever get their phones wet. That being said, could this be a feature that Samsung might adopt for its own Galaxy smartphones? Well according to the Korean media, yes it would be.

According to the reports, Samsung is said to be planning to make dustproof and waterproof features that would be part of their higher-end series of Android devices, like the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 where the South Korean tech giant reportedly cancelled plans for LDS built-in antennas in favor of IMA technology which allows for waterproof smartphones, albeit at the expense of a slightly thicker device. In any case like we said, we don’t think waterproof and dustproof are features that will make or break a device, but definitely something to take into consideration and definitely marketing material, but what do you guys think?

Leaked Tizen Screenshot “Confirms” New TouchWiz UI

Leaked Tizen Screenshot Confirms New TouchWiz UISo the other day Samsung teased a image on its Twitter account, basically reminding us of its upcoming Unpacked 5 event where supposedly the Galaxy S5 will be announced. What was interesting about the image was Samsung’s use of icons which had many speculating that it could be Samsung teasing us about its new TouchWiz user interface, and now thanks to a leaked Tizen screenshot obtained by the folks at nowhereelse.fr, it has more or less confirmed that the icons used in the teaser image are indeed from Samsung’s upcoming new user interface that we might expect in Tizen devices and the Samsung Galaxy S5.

In the past Samsung has gotten a lot of criticism over its TouchWiz UI, with many complaining about how bloated the software felt. However recent leaks have suggested that Samsung might be trying to do something about it with what appears to be a rather dramatic overhaul in terms of design, offering a more magazine-like feel with tiles, which are also reminiscent of the Windows Phone platform but still a welcome visual refresh nonetheless. In any case we’re not sure if this latest version of Samsung’s Android UI is any better than before, but what we do know is that Google and Samsung have come to an agreement in which Samsung will not overly modify Android which might take away from the Android experience that Google had originally intended.

Alleged Samsung Galaxy S5 Box Spotted

Alleged Samsung Galaxy S5 Box SpottedAnother day, another Samsung Galaxy S5 rumor makes an appearance, although this time around, it would not be the handset that appears, but rather, what is allegedly the back of the Samsung Galaxy S5’s box. The photo above is touted to be one of the bottom side of a retail Samsung Galaxy S5, where it points to its fair share of hardware specifications that are actually different from what we have read and talked about so far. However, do bear in mind that nothing is set in concrete just yet since this could easily be something to throw folks off from the right path. After all, both the styling and iconography which is located on the rear side of the box resembles that of the Galaxy S4 as well as Galaxy Note 3’s wrapper.

Galaxy S5′s Fingerprint Sensor Is Developed In-House [Rumor]

Galaxy S5s Fingerprint Sensor Is Developed In House [Rumor]Will the Samsung Galaxy S5 feature a fingerprint sensor like the iPhone 5s? Well if the rumors are to be believed, the answer is yes. However instead of turning to third-party manufacturers to provide them with the fingerprint sensor technology, word on the street has it that Samsung could be looking to produce their own fingerprint sensors rather than outsourcing the job. We’re not sure if this decision was recently made, or if the information was recently made available, because if it is due to the former, we’re sure as heck hoping that it will not affect the release date of the handset in any way.

In any case the rumors claim that the fingerprint sensor developed by Samsung will be of the swiping variety, as opposed to Apple’s TouchID where the finger/thumb is left on the sensor to be detected rather than swiped through. We’re not sure if this sensor will be better than the iPhone 5s’ TouchID which has proven to be rather effective, but it will definitely be a feature worth looking forward to. Should you get your hopes up for a fingerprint sensor? Well back in 2013, it was rumored that the Galaxy Note 3 would come with a fingerprint sensor but apparently it was scrapped due to it not passing Samsung’s QC, so here’s hoping that we will see it in the Galaxy S5. Until we hear the official word, do take it with a grain of salt for now.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom Shows Up In Import Data (Rumor)

Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom Shows Up In Import Data (Rumor)Over the past week, we have heard plenty about the Samsung Galaxy S5, and have even come up with a round up story on all the possible angles that this upcoming flagship device will be able to take. Well, earlier this morning we also reported on the multiple Galaxy S5 variants that might make their way to the market eventually, and this time around, Indian import data of a certain SM-C115 “mobile camera” device has appeared, showing that this device is currently undergoing some testing in India. A “mobile camera” does point to the very real possibility of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom, which would continue off from where the Galaxy S4 Zoom (as depicted above) left off.
