Galaxy S5 And Galaxy Note 4 Might Have Improved Gesture Based Features

Galaxy S5 And Galaxy Note 4 Might Have Improved Gesture Based Features

The rumor mill is abuzz with chatter about Samsung’s 2014 flagship devices, and already there has been a lot of talk about what we can expect particularly from the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note 4. The former is actually expected to be released in March, so it would give us an idea of what to expect, feature-wise, from the phablet which isn’t due until at least September 2014. A rumor coming in from Korea suggests that these two devices could come with improved gesture based features like Air View and Air Gesture, which pick up user input when the finger is hovered just above the display.

Apparently Samsung has once again selected Synaptics to provide the touch controller for its 2014 flagships, and rumor has it that the company has improved its touch controllers which are now presumably better at detecting hovering fingers. This would mean that users will be able to take advantage of the aforementioned features by hovering their fingers at a greater distance than before. It is also claimed that Synaptics has greatly enhanced its stylus pen functionality, enabling the touchscreen panel to pick up penpoints as low as 2.5 pi, this means that the display will be able to pick up even more precise handwriting. Samsung has been gradually improving its gesture features, its possible that the company’s next flagships might tout what has been rumored here, but still, a rumor is a rumor. We can’t absolutely be sure until Samsung officially confirms it.

Samsung Galaxy S5 To Come In Plastic And Metal Options [Rumor]

Samsung Galaxy S5 To Come In Plastic And Metal Options [Rumor]Will the Samsung Galaxy S5 feature a dramatic redesign? Will it incorporate the use of metal and more “premium” materials compared to previous models that relied mostly on plastic? That’s hard to say but last we heard, the rumors suggested that it could incorporate both plastic and metal, but now thanks to a new rumor, it has been suggested that Samsung could launch two different versions of the Galaxy S5: one in a metal finish, and one in a plastic finish, which reminds us of Apple’s strategy in 2013 when they launched the more premium iPhone 5s, and the plastic iPhone 5c.

Assuming that is the case, chances are we could see two Galaxy S5 handsets priced differently, with the metal version presumably being more expensive, while the plastic version will be sold at a cheaper price. However given that Apple’s strategy of two different iPhones at different price points didn’t exactly work out, we’re not sure if Samsung’s plan will either, unless of course the pricing of the plastic Galaxy S5 is noticeably cheaper than the metal version. In any case do take it with a grain of salt for now, and hopefully more information will make its way online in the near future, especially with the rumor that Samsung might launch the device in March 2014.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Rumored To Sport Rapid Charging 2,900mAh Li-ion Battery

Samsung Galaxy S5 Rumored To Sport Rapid Charging 2,900mAh Li ion BatteryThe Samsung Galaxy S5 is probably one of the more highly anticipated smartphones to arrive in the market in 2014. Given that we’ve seen phones released ahead of the Galaxy S5 with pretty impressive specs, safe to say many are looking forward to seeing what the Galaxy S5 will pack under the hood. According to the rumors, the Galaxy S5 could see a release later this March and we had also previously heard about the “confirmed” specs of the handset, which includes a QHD display that’s about 5.25” in size, a 16MP rear-facing camera, and will pack either a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor or Samsung’s Exynos 6 chipset which will depend on the region.

Now thanks to the folks at Phone Arena, they claim to have been tipped off by their tipsters about some additional specs of the phone, namely its battery. Now we know batteries aren’t exactly the most exciting part of the phone, but if their tipsters are right, the Galaxy S5 could feature a slightly larger battery of the 2,900mAh variety, and on top of that, is claimed to be of the rapid charging type, meaning that it can charge the phone faster which has been estimated to be about 2 hours for a full charge! In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but the Galaxy S5 is definitely worth keeping an eye out for so be sure to check back with us at a later date for the details!

    Samsung Galaxy S5 Specs “Confirmed”

Samsung Galaxy S5 Specs “Confirmed”So what do we know about a possible Samsung Galaxy S5 at this point in time? Not too much actually, other than the fact that there were rumors of the next generation smartphone being rumored to roll out in London later this coming March. According to the good people over at SamMobile, they have picked up some information from an alleged “insider” that the Samsung Galaxy S5 should arrive with a quad HD display – which translates to a whopping 1,440 x 2,560 pixels, and in all probability, it should measure 5.25” in size. At the back of the Samsung Galaxy S5, it is also said to carry a 16-megapixel shooter with a very real chance of optical image stabilization being part of the deal.

Galaxy S5 Release Event Rumored To Take Place In London, Mid-March

Galaxy S5 Release Event Rumored To Take Place In London, Mid March

We know that Samsung is going to release a new flagship smartphone in a couple of months, which is expected to be called the Galaxy S5. Already there have been a lot of rumors about this device, a Samsung executive recently said that the Galaxy S5 will be released in April. Rumor has it that the release event will take place in London, around mid-March. An exact date has not been rumored as yet, but England’s capital is claimed to be the place where the Korean juggernaut unveils its latest flagship to the world.

This latest rumor comes after reports that a launch is expected at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona. MWC kicks off late next month, but it didn’t seem likely that the announcement will be made there. Samsung hasn’t launched a flagship device at MWC since Galaxy S2. The rumor about Galaxy S5 event in London comes from Italian journalist Flavio, who claims to have heard from a reliable source with knowledge of the global launch event. Samsung hasn’t dropped any hints as yet, about its upcoming smartphone or the location where it will be unveiled. It is still a bit too soon to be sure right now, rumors such as this fly around quite a bit prior to a new product’s unveiling. We’ll only really know for sure once invites from Samsung start coming in.

Future Samsung Devices Could Feature Head Tracking

Future Samsung Devices Could Feature Head Tracking

Back in 2013 when Samsung announced the Galaxy S4 with more pomp and substance that we had ever seen, it showed off the new eye-tracking features that its latest smartphone touted. Its possible that the company might build up on that and offer a similar but much more advanced feature on its next generation Galaxy flagship, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5. A patent application was filed in Europe last year for a new method that would allow users to control their mobile device through its head tracking feature.

Obviously the front camera will be used, the patent mentions that this feature would come in handy when users are not able to touch their device or if they’re wearing gloves that the touchscreen doesn’t pick up. Users would instead be able to interact with the device through winks, nods and head movements. Samsung has not yet commented on this patent, so its unclear if this technology will make it in the Galaxy S5. And one can’t always be too sure about patented technologies, it doesn’t mean that they definitely will end up in a consumer device. Samsung has hinted at the possibility of Galaxy S5 having an iris scanner though, but so far nothing has been confirmed. The next generation Galaxy flagship is expected to be released in April 2014.

Galaxy S5 With Eye Scanner Might Be Released In April

Galaxy S5 With Eye Scanner Might Be Released In April

Last year it was being rumored that due to disappointing Galaxy S4 sales, Samsung is expected to release Galaxy S5 ahead of schedule. Some people expected the new flagship smartphone to be released by January 2014. That doesn’t seem to be the case though because according to Lee Young Hee, executive vice president of Samsung’s mobile division, the company has always announced its first flagship smartphone in the first half of each year and it expects to follow that with the Galaxy S5 as well. He expects the smartphone to be released around March and April 2014.

He also said that customers can also expect a Galaxy Gear successor to launch alongside the new smartphone, it is said to have advanced functions, “and the bulky design will also be improved.” Samsung also has plans to launch at least one other wearable device in 2014, but the company hasn’t disclosed as yet what this device could be. The high-level executive also commented on an interesting rumor that has been making the rounds recently, that the Galaxy S5 may come with an eye scanner. He says that the company is “studying the possibility,” right now but it can’t be said for sure if they will be able to get it ready in time for the Galaxy S5.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Could Feature Metal And Plastic Body [Rumor]

Samsung Galaxy S5 Could Feature Metal And Plastic Body [Rumor]We have been hearing a lot of rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S5, and if the rumors are to be believed, the handset could be announced very soon. Now one of the big changes supposedly making its way to the Galaxy S5 would be its choice of materials. In the past Samsung has used plastic to construct the body of the handset, and for the most part most people are fine with it, although lately many have been comparing Samsung’s phones to other devices like the HTC One, Sony Xperia Z, and the iPhone 5s in which more premium materials are used. This had led to rumors suggesting that the Galaxy S5 could sport a metal body, although to be fair we have heard rumors suggesting otherwise as well.

Well thanks to a new report from Korean publication, ETNews, it seems like we can expect a mix of materials in which Samsung will rely on body metal and plastic, as opposed to going full metal or full plastic. Based on the report, Samsung will introduce a metal battery cover, while other components of the phone will rely on plastic, which is done to help reduce the phone’s overall weight. There’s no telling how accurate this rumor is as it seems to pander towards those who are still leaning on the fence regarding the rumored materials, but then again it could also be true for all we know. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? How does the idea of a hybrid Samsung Galaxy S5 sound to you?

Samsung Galaxy S5 Fingerprint Scanner Rumors Making Rounds Once Again

Samsung Galaxy S5 Fingerprint Scanner Rumors Making Rounds Once Again

Fingerprint scanners aren’t new, they have been around for a long time and have previously even tried their luck entering the mainstream market through smartphones. The trend was resurrected last year and suddenly it was all the rage. Apple’s much rumored iPhone 5s did indeed come with a fingerprint scanner, and Samsung was expected to follow up with the Galaxy Note 3, which it didn’t do. The HTC One Max did come with a fingerprint scanner, joining the very short list of high-end devices released in 2013 that are capable of scanning fingerprints. Now rumors have flared once again that Samsung is going to put said scanner in its upcoming high-end devices, one of which is the Galaxy S5.

Now there has been a lot of talk about the Galaxy S5 release. It has been rumored that Samsung wants to release it ahead of schedule due to disappointing Galaxy S4 sales. The company hasn’t confirmed anything as yet, so such rumors must definitely be taken with a grain of salt. This particular rumor comes from Digitimes, which also claims that even LG’s 2014 flagships are going to come with fingerprint scanners provided by a couple of companies called Validity and FingerPrint Cards. As per recent rumors, the Galaxy S5 is expected to be released at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month, so we’ll know for sure then.
