Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Android 4.2.2 XXDMJ1 Update Being Rolled Out

Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Android 4.2.2 XXDMJ1 Update Being Rolled Out

Samsung has started rolling out Android 4.2.2 XXDMJ1 update for the Wi-Fi only Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. The previous major update this tablet received was Android 4.1.2, which was rolled out a few months back. The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Android 4.2.2 XXDMJ1 update is being rolled out in stages, so it might take a while before it becomes available in your region. Tablet owners in Germany have already received the update, and since Wi-Fi only variants don’t need carrier approval of the update, it shouldn’t take a lot of time before the update becomes available in your region as well.

The Android 4.2.2 update brings a host of improvements and new features. A new Daydream screensaver mode, widgets on the lockscreen, separate toggles page in status bar and more are included in this update. A few features exclusive only to Samsung devices are also included as well, alongside the usual slew of bug fixes, performance and stability improvements. Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 owners may download the update over-the-air straight on their tablet itself, or they may hook it up to a computer and do the deed through Samsung Kies. Those who’re feeling a bit adventurous can obtain the flashable firmware file online and flash it manually on the tablet, though only advanced users should head down this road.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Student Edition for back-to-school spotters

Ah, parents would definitely love the “back to school” season, as this would mean their little ones (no matter how old a child gets, in the eyes of the parents, he or she would still be considered as “young” or “little”) will have to return to school and get out of their hair, and a more normal pattern of living is established. No more sleeping in late for them, and neither do they have the opportunity to stay up till the wee hours of the morning – it is a life of rigorous discipline, and it is time to score those grades that are required by Ivy League universities in order to gain entry into the hallowed hallways of their prestigious educational institutions. Well, Samsung intends to ride the tide with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Student Edition.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 with LTE now available at Verizon, $500 sans contract

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 101 with LTE no available at Verizon, yours for $500

Been clamoring for a Samsung Galaxy 2 10.1 with LTE? While you may have known about Sprint’s variant which launched 10 days ago, Verizon is now laying claim to the tablet as well. Big Red’s model will cost you a cool $500 ($150 than its 7-inch sibling) with “month-to-month service” that’ll run you between $30 for 4GB of data to $60 for 10GB. Details on the slate’s internals are light, but you can expect it to be loaded with Android 4.0 and 8GB of flash storage (expandable to 64GB via microSD) — whether this one has the beefed-up 1.5GHz dual-core CPU like Sprint’s remains to be seen, but it is 50 dollars less. Verizon’s listing the 10-incher as being ready to ship by the 26th, so hit up the source links below if it’s up your alley.

LTE Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 now available from Verizon

If you were looking to get your hands on an LTE-enabled Android tablet, you might be interested to learn that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 has officially launched on Verizon’s network. Unfortunately as is the case with most tablets, the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will not be subsidized which means you will have to pay full retail, although the upside is that if you were to get it from Verizon with one of the carrier’s data plans, you will be able to enjoy 4G LTE connectivity while on the go.

Priced at $499, customers can look forward to a 10.1” 720p HD display with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on board. It will come with 8GB of internal storage (that’s the model that Verizon is offering) which can be expanded via microSD, so don’t worry too much about not having enough memory. The tablet will also come with a 3.2MP rear-facing camera and a VGA front-facing camera. Not the most powerful tablet we’ve seen to date, especially given that the Nexus 10 is already on the market, but we guess it ultimately boils down to personal preference. In the meantime you can check out our review of the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 here.

Samsung ATIV Smart PC and Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 hit AT&T on November 9th at $800 and $500 prices

Samsung ATIV Smart PC for AT&T

If you like your tablets of the Samsung persuasion, AT&T has just promised an abundance of riches. The carrier has confirmed that both the Android-toting Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and the Windows 8-based ATIV Smart PC will reach its stores and LTE network by November 9th at respective contract-free prices of $500 and $800. Those who spring for the ATIV-badged hardware can deck it out with a $49 Stand Dock and a $40 VGA adapter, both available in late November, if they’re keen to transform their 11.6-inch slates into tiny desktops. And if you’d really, really like to go all-in with Samsung, there’s a promo running through the holidays that knocks as much as $100 off the tablet price if you’re willing to buy a Samsung phone (and the matching two-year contract, naturally) at the same time.

How would you change Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2 10.1?

How would you change Samsungs Galaxy Tab 2 101

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 retained a lot of the specs from its predecessor, with the company slashing the price to duck out of a straight fight with the iPad. In doing so, however, it found itself being bested by mid-range units from ASUS, Acer, and most damningly, the OG Galaxy Tab. Of course, if you’ve spent the last six months with this slate as your daily driver, then you might have found some other things to love and loathe about it. Let’s imagine Samsung is listening, and tell them what you’d like to see in next year’s version (aside from, perhaps, just buying a Nexus 10).
