Samsung unveils Pico Projector accessory for Galaxy products

Samsung‘s efforts with the Galaxy Beam were valiant, but the device itself disappeared into the abyss with no real impact on the market. However, Samsung is trying it again, but this time they’re making a dedicated Pico Projector accessory built to be compatible with the company’s Galaxy line of products.

The Samsung EAD-R10 mini-projector is currently available for sale in South Korea, and all you needs to do to get it up and running is connect a MHL-supported Galaxy device to the projector and then you’ll be off to the races, projecting images with up to 20ANSI lumens and an nHD resolution (640×360).

The projector accessory features a loudspeaker, a focus control button, HDMI-out, and a 1650mAh battery, with a price of around $220. The device is about as big as a Galaxy S III, and it’s only about a half of an inch think, so it can easily fit into a pocket for portability purposes. It also has a full-size HDMI-in port so you can also plug it into laptops and other devices.

The device promises two hours of non-stop projecting, and hopefully that’s true, since most movies are usually an hour and a half to two hours long. We’re not sure if this new accessory will be hitting other countries or not, but even if it did land in the US, we’re not sure if the device would really take off, especially considering the $200+ price tag.

Court Demands Samsung Pay Apple $120,000 per Day

Samsung ‘Baffin’ pops up in FCC; reportedly mixes 5-inch WVGA display, quad-core CPU

Samsung 'Baffin' Android pops up in FCC, reportedly mixes 5inch WVGA display with quadcore CPU

Apparently feeling we were running low on Galaxy smartphones after the current lineup of Galaxy S III, Galaxy S III mini and Galaxy Note II, Samsung’s SHV-E270L just made the FCC rounds and is rumored to be next in line. Flashing its codename “Baffin” in the documents, this device does not seem destined for an appearance beyond Korean borders, but a unique blend of specs and rumors that it will arrive as the “Galaxy Grand” continue to intrigue. Listed as an LTE phone in the Bluetooth database, and appearing in GLBenchmark reporting a 1.4GHz (possibly quad-core) CPU like the Galaxy S III, but with a much lower 800×480 WVGA display. According to a report from Korea’s Money Today, the idea is to create a device for older customers that’s easier to read with bigger icons and letters on its large 5-inch low res screen (as opposed to the 5-inch 1080p pixel density monsters we’re now accustomed to), with a quad-core CPU pushing Android 4.1 and its Smart Stay features plus a 2,100mAh battery. We’re not sure if it will increase your parent’s scores in Fruit Ninja, but vision-challenged KT, LG U+ and SK Telecom customers may have an interesting decision to make very soon.

Galaxy Note II Review: Bigger Got a Lot Better

When the Galaxy Note came out earlier this year, well, it was a giant, laggy jumble with a bum stylus. But the Note II might just have what it takes to win over our cold, size-ist hearts. More »

Verizon, AT&T put Samsung’s Galaxy Note II on pre-sale for $300 with a two-year contract

Verizon, AT&T put Samsung's Galaxy Note II on presale for $299 with a twoyear contract

Samsung’s Galaxy Note II played coy at first by only hanging out with the European crowd, but now that it’s here, it’s the life of the US carrier party. The two biggest, AT&T and Verizon, have now glommed the phablet and each are offering it for pre-sale in all its quad-core Exynos, 5.5-inch glory for $300 under a two-year contract. We just handled Verizon’s variant, but weren’t sure of a sale date, and AT&T’s version, which we saw earlier was already expected for pre-order today. When Sprint’s copy of the handset arrives later today, that’ll round out the Note II’s major US carrier dance card — so you’ll be able to grab it at whichever plucks on your heart (or purse) strings.

ITC rules that Samsung violates four Apple patents covering design, touch

ITC rules that Samsung violates four Apple design, touch patents

The back and forth continues. US International Trade Commission Administrative Law Judge Thomas Pender has made an initial ruling that some Samsung’s devices violate four Apple patents, including one iPhone design patent (the one you see above) and three software patents. Apple didn’t manage a clean sweep, as Samsung was cleared of treading on two more patents, but the verdict still carries the all-too-familiar potential for a trade ban if the ITC maintains the findings in its final review. It’s bleak news for the Korean company, which faced an initial loss to Apple at the ITC just last month — even though large swaths of the mostly Android-based Galaxy phones and tablets in the dispute have long since left the market, an upheld verdict gives Samsung one less bargaining chip in a protracted legal war.

Samsung Galaxy Note II for T-Mobile now available for $370 on contract

Samsung Galaxy Note II for TMobile now available for $370 on contract

T-Mobile may be a bit late to the Samsung Galaxy Note II party, but the mega-sized 5.5-inch smartphone has now landed in its online store for $370 on contract. You’ll need to commit yourself for two years to get that price, but if you can manage it, the quad-core packing handset looks to be ready to ship in Marble White or Titanium Gray shades. Its presence in the store slid under the radar with few other details or fanfare, but if you’ve been eying a T-Mob variant of the phablet with bad intent, check the source to see how to grab it.

[Thanks, Amon]
