King’s Landing Recreated in Minecraft: Pixels are Coming

I know you can’t wait for the third season of Game of Thrones when it hits at the end of March. Me too. Well, here is something to help tide you over until then. This amazingly detailed Minecraft King’s Landing was created by the people at Westeroscraft – who are gradually recreating the entire domain of Westeros using only Minecraft. And even though it is awesome, it makes me sad because we still have to wait for next season.

I want to watch it now! I’ll just take a deep breath instead, and absorb all of detail of King’s Landing. Just look at all of those buildings, the docks, the countryside. This city is alive – though we all wish King Joffrey wasn’t.

The only thing missing is an immense battle with green wildfire spraying over the ships in Blackwater Bay.

Of course, if you are a Game of Thrones fan, then you know there aren’t many happy endings. And weddings. Good god, you know how weddings go in Westeros. You are a braver man than I.

Here’s the New Trailer for Game of Thrones Season 3

Yep, it’s almost time for another season of Game of Thrones. Which is, you know, really awesome and it will be great and yeah yeah yeah. But this teaser is especially foreboding (if very sparsely produced) because of the song, “The Rains of Castamere.” More »

Iron Throne Smartphone Dock: Game of Phones

Whether you’re a fan of the Game of Thrones TV series or the A Song of Fire and Ice novels or you’re just willing to admit that your smartphone rules over your time and attention, you’ll love this dock made by Instructables member mstyle183.

mstyle183 – for this is the manner in which the kingdom’s future blacksmiths are named – originally made the dock for himself, but rightly decided that other people might want one. Whereas he made the original using 3D printing, the docks he’s selling are made via injection molding. Each order is individually painted, though I kind of like its vanilla look.

You can order the dock from mstyle183′s website nuPROTO for $70 (USD). It’s compatible with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4/4S, iPhone 5 and phones that have micro-USB charging ports at the bottom. Although I’m not sure if fatter phones like the Galaxy Note are fit to sit on this throne.

Game Of Thrones Is Most Pirated 2012 TV Show

gameofthrones Game Of Thrones Is Most Pirated 2012 TV ShowWhen it comes to a story that has a list, that simply resonates with the readers for some strange reason or another. I guess folks are always drawn to a “Top 10” compilation, as everyone has an opinion. Well, some of the lists do have unwilling participants, and I am not quite sure what to make of a list where the most pirated shows in 2012 are listed. Game of Thrones is right up there at the top of TorrentFreak’s list, where this information was compiled after taking into consideration public BitTorrent file trackers and other unnamed sources, where Game of Thrones hit 4.28 million downloads for a single episode. Far behind in second position would be Dexter, having being dethroned (how ironic) with 2.75 million downloads.

Folks have their fair share of theories as to why Game of Thrones topped the list, apart from the fact that it is an above average TV drama that does deserve a viewing over and over. For instance, in other countries, episodes are aired days, and in some places, weeks after they are first shown in the US, and with the world being filled with impatience, where else do desperate Game of Thrones fans turn to other than the Internet?

Game of Thrones Soap: Hygiene is Coming

Do you want to smell like one of the houses from Game of Thrones? Maybe the Lannisters? How about the Starks? Let’s face it, you wouldn’t want to smell like most characters from Westeros. Except for Denerys. You know that she smells good. You can’t look that good and not smell good – even if you have been walking through the Red Waste for weeks. But everyone in the seven kingdoms might smell nicer if they had these soaps.
Game of Thrones soap
These house sigil soaps by GeekSoap are pretty neat. They will evoke sweet scents that make you think of each house. There’s Stark, Lannister, Baratheon, and Targaryen. The Lannister scent is “Pride” made from patchouli, plumeria, and orange. I guess that seems about right. Stark’s scent is “Betrayal,” a crisp combination of pine, cedar, and eucalyptus with just a hint of campfire. Yep. That’s how I always imagined they would smell. You get the idea.

There’s no Greyjoy because no one wants to smell like salt water and seaweed. They are just $6(USD) each. Or you could just pay the iron price.

Xbox SmartGlass goes live alongside first Windows 8 tablets on October 26 with several supported apps

SmartGlass goes live alongside first Windows 8 tablets on October 26 with several supported apps

SmartGlass functionality may already sort of exist on Xbox 360 per the console’s latest Dashboard update, but Microsoft’s making it a full-on reality on October 26. As it stands, the Xbox 360 allows for SmartGlass support, but without an update to Microsoft’s 360 companion app, there’s no way to use it — when Microsoft’s Surface RT and other Windows 8 tablets launch on the 26, that functionality will come built in to the “Games” section of the new OS. That of course begs the question: “When will I be able to use SmartGlass with my iOS/Android/Windows Phone 7.5 devices? And how?”

The date isn’t certain, but functionality will arrive on other platforms “soon” after the October 26 launch of Surface, Microsoft reps tell us. When it does, it’ll come in the form of an update to your existing, “My Xbox Live” mobile app (which also renames the app to, “Xbox SmartGlass”) or Games tab (per WP7.5), and it’ll be more or less identical with the Windows Phone version. The only missing functionality, we’re told, are two somewhat basic bulletpoints. “We have deeper integration in the Windows Phone,” Microsoft tells us. “That’s something we don’t have on iOS or Android, it’s just within our application. Same on Windows — the integration in Windows is ‘last playing’ or ‘now playing,’ being able to present that information.” The other, more interesting item, is the lacking ability to “send” whatever website you’re using up to the Xbox 360’s Internet Explorer browser. Regardless of which mobile device you’re on, SmartGlass can “send” websites from the 360 to said device — it won’t work the other way around, however, if you’re using a non-Windows 8 device. Not what we’d call a huge deal, exactly, but a bummer no less. Regardless, you’ll soon have the opportunity to put SmartGlass through its paces from the comfort of home when support devices launch on October 26. For a full list of applications available at launch and partners beyond that plus a quick walkthrough video, head past the break.
