Game Of Thrones House Sigil Bow Ties: Game of Bows

Ever since Doctor Who made bow ties cool, they have shown up in all kinds of forms. The latest in bow tie fashion are these Game of Thrones house sigil bow ties. I can’t exactly see Eddard Stark (for obvious reasons) or, well, anyone from Westeros wearing one. Still, you can enjoy them.

These neat bow ties are made by Etsy seller 2Marys and come in House Lannister, Baratheon, Stark, Targaryen and Arryn styles. All you have to do is choose your sigil and wear it proudly.

They will cost you just $10(USD), which isn’t too bad at all. Unless you pay the iron price, of course.

This Game of Thrones Castle Isn’t Real, but It Should Be

The Game of Thrones opening credits are just begging to have someone build a real-world replica. Just imagine a wooden version of the keep at Winterfell as a model with moving pieces that you could buy. How awesome would that be? You could buy the buildings separately and put them all together.

Well, Max and Tijn Berends have made a wooden expandable castle shown in this video. Okay, not really. It’s not real. They made it look real by using Blender 3D to create a digital castle. It’s a neat trick.

Don’t get your hopes up that they will re-create the whole intro. This building took about three months to create by itself.

If you’d like to play with the model, animations and textures for yourself, you can grab the Blender 3D files here.

For a TV show, Game of Thrones has clearly mastered the art of special effects. The quality of its visuals is simply spectacular. From the beautiful castles and boorish giants and nipple cutting we already know are fake to the amazing tricks of turning day into a bustling night camp and making snow impossibly glisten, the world they are able to create is simply amazing. And so damn real. This reel from SpinVFX shows some of the special effects used in Game of Thrones Season 3. [SpinVFX, Jose Antonio Espejo via The Mary Sue]

Game of Thrones Season 3 Limited-Edition Box Set: We Found One of Daenerys’ Dragons

These days there are so many editions of products – limited, special, special limited, etc. Even retailers have their own special editions. We couldn’t possibly collect them all. Well, we could, but it would be a full time job and we’d go broke. Amazon likes to release special editions too, and has just posted an image and page for their special edition Game of Thrones season 3 box set.

3D Printed Game Of Thrones iPhone Dock Gets HBO Banhammer

3D Printed Game Of Thrones iPhone Dock Gets HBO Banhammer3D printing technology has definitely come a long way, and each day that progresses, we are moving closer and closer to the day and time when the man on the street is capable of producing his or her 3D printed goods without breaking the bank. Fernando Sosa happens to be in charge of a custom 3D printing business, where he has offered to churn out models, prototypes and replicas of new products. In fact, on his website he has put up a fair number of jaw dropping samples, where they range from a cyborg spider to a pair of Dappeath Star Christmas tree ornaments, and of course, his crown jewel – a Game of Thrones iPhone dock, which allows your iPhone to sit atop the Iron Throne in a majestic manner.

The thing is, you are unable to purchase one, since HBO has already sent Sosa a cease-and-desist letter, touting that the throne itself its intellectual property, and obviously nuPROTO will not carry any form of license to sell it. Sosa has made attempts on his part to determine just who has the license to sell it, or how to get one of these licenses for himself, but has run into a brick wall each time. Having said that, he then had to refund money to all the customers who purchased one prior to HBO’s cease-and-desist letter. Sosa lamented to Wired, “That throne, it took me months to make. I modeled every sword, it was really a lot of work.”

Game Of Throne’s Piracy Is Better Than An Emmy, According to Time Warner’s CEO

Game Of Thrones Piracy Is Better Than An Emmy, According to Time Warners CEOPiracy, for the most part, has been viewed in a negative light, especially it usually implies a loss of income for at least one party. In any case you might have heard that HBO’s Game of Thrones was the most pirated TV show on the internet, despite the US ambassador pleading to stop the pirated downloads, and while that does not sound too good, the director of the show was not too concerned, with some at HBO even taking it as a compliment, and now it looks like HBO’s parent company, Time Warner, does not seem too fussed over the piracy either.

Speaking at a recent earnings call, Jeff Bewkes, the CEO of Time Warner, was asked on how he felt about the piracy of the show. Bewkes admitted that the piracy wasn’t all that bad, and he agreed that he too saw it as a compliment of sorts. In fact Bewkes went on to state that it was better than winning an Emmy and was quoted as saying, “Our experience is that it leads to more paying subs. I think you’re right that Game of Thrones is the most pirated show in the world. That’s better than an Emmy.” Now that’s saying something!

Game of Thrones Balloon Sculpture: A Pin is Coming

Entertainer Phileas Flash made this gloomy balloon sculpture of Ned Stark sitting on the Iron Throne. I think it’s based on this poster from the first season of Game of Thrones. A series so heartwrenching it even makes balloon sculptures a sad sight. We get it George! Nice guys finish last. We get it.

A balloon sculpture of Joffrey would have been more appropriate.

40 Foot Dragon Skull Shows up on a Beach

This is what it would look like if dragons actually existed and we uncovered their bones. This 40 foot dragon skull is amazing and scary. I would hate to run into this thing on the beach. As if by magic, this massive dragon skull appeared on Charmouth Beach in Dorset, England.

It’s part of a promotion for HBO’s Game of Thrones, since Blinkbox now has Season Three of the series available for streaming. This was a great way to announce it as well as scare beachgoers.

It took a team of three people two months to sculpt this thing. How they got it into place is a mystery. Hopefully they leave it there for brave kids to play with it in perpetuity.
