Gameloft’s Six Guns Multi-player Old West Shooter Review

The game Six Guns has been updated this week by its developers at gameloft to include not only alternate-dimension shoot-em-up scenarios galore, but online multiplayer action as well. This game is completely free to download and play both offline and online and connects to Gameloft LIVE! as well as Facebook – and you can invite all your best buddies to shoot along with you – or at you!

This game has been out for some time as a single-player game with a plotline or two – but who needs that when you can blast your way through the past with your buddies all across the web?! It’s time to make with the Multiplayer Achievements and the brand new death-bringer in the Submachine Gun as well – thats the SMG for you fans of Age of Zombies, one of the most hilarious chibi-shooters on the market (from Halfbrick studios).

For those of you that’ve been seeking out the best of the best in Wild West shooting games, you may very well have come across the game Bladeslinger – in its pre-release Android form or on the iPad (in iTunes for free as well). That game is exceedingly similar to this one save for the game mechanics being slightly closer to Infinity Blade while Six Guns is closer to Grand Theft Auto. In Six Guns you’re able to hop aboard a horse and do a ride-by-shooting with your pistol – same thing, right?

You’re using a now-standard set of controls with this game which includes a trigger in the lower right-hand corner, a left-hand side movement joystick which appears wherever you set your thumb down, and a look-around joystick that appears wherever your thumb hits outside of the trigger on the right side of the screen. You’ve also got a button to call a horse, another button to do a duck and roll, and several buttons above your main viewing area that link to places like the main menu.

The gameplay is solid, the game is fun, and all of the cash Gameloft brings in from the project goes through two places: advertisements and in-game purchases. If you find yourself addicted to the game, you can purchase larger guns and more fabulous and flamboyant clothing for real money. As it stands, you can still get by in any random multi-player game without getting massacred even with your standard gear. Don’t worry about those with giant pocketbooks quite yet – perhaps when the game catches on more heavily. For now the free model is a good ol’ free-for-all for you and yours, top to bottom!

SlashGear Evening Wrap-Up: December 7, 2012

Welcome to Friday evening everyone – the weekend is beginning for most of us, but before we dive in, let’s recap the news from the day. Late this afternoon, we found out that Gameloft’s full line up of games for 2013 had leaked, which is exciting to say the least. Unfortunately, all is not well in the gaming world, as BioShock Infinite has been pushed back yet again. This time it’s been delayed into March, which means the wait for it has gotten longer by a month. We learned today that Best Buy will have to pay out $27 million to TechFoward for stolen trade secrets, which is not good for a company that has been struggling lately.

The PlayStation Store silently launched on the web today, so you can do your PlayStation-related shopping from your computer from now on. The HTC One VX budget handset hit AT&T today, while Apple CEO Tim Cook was talking about the competition and sharing his feelings on the anti-Apple Samsung ads. The very cool Samsung Galaxy Camera has been announced for Verizon, while the Samsung Muse music player is has arrived in the US.

GameStop is now selling Kindle Fire tablets and offering free $25 Amazon gift cards to anyone who picks one up, and we learned that T-Mobile is currently testing a new pre-paid mobile brand. Google announced today that it’s replacing its Mergers and Acquisitions chief, while we heard that hackable hotel room door locks will be getting replaced by the manufacturer. A meteor gave some Texas residents quite the show today, and a new 268-megapixel camera has snapped the first shot of the distant Carina Nebula. Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition has launched on the iPad, so be sure to check it out if you don’t mind watching a few hundred hours of your life slip away.

As is usually the case, we have a number of original articles for you to check out tonight. Chris Burns goes hands-on with the Verizon Galaxy Note II and delivers his review of the Men In Black 3 Movie Touch app. Craig Lloyd tells us what he thought of the HTC One X+ in his review, while Don Reisinger tells us why Nintendo needs to launch a new console in 2014. That does it for tonight’s Evening Wrap-Up, we hope you enjoy your weekend everyone!

Gameloft 2013 games roadmap leaks in full

This afternoon Gameloft appears to have lost the cover on what very much seems to be a legitimate list of all the games they’re planning on releasing in the year 2013. This list is one that several Android gaming-centric sites are claiming to be legitimate, where in reality many (if not all) of the games could have been guessed simply based on the release schedule and success of game series over the past couple of years. Can you guess a few of them before we hit the full list below?

Of course we’re not going to focus too much on the fact that these games will be released, instead taking a moment to think about how such a list is “leaked.” When a developer group or a manufacturer has a collection of widely-anticipated products ready to be released in the future, there’s always the risk that someone looking for karma (in one form or another) will find their plans and let the whole world know. If Gameloft is on the wrong side of this sort of situation, we pity the original source – especially if they’re inside the Gameloft network.

Meanwhile the games list reads like a who’s-who of top-name titles, next-generation sequels, and high-powered beasts prepared for the next generation of high-powered devices. What this tells us in a sort of offhand way is that Gameloft is fully prepared for the next generation of devices, a generation that does not yet exist – in other words, some of these games might not be working with your smartphone from a couple years ago, that one with a single-core processor, that little baby of a cell.

The following list comes from Touch Arcade:

Edit: We’ve removed the list at the request of Gameloft.

The list above should (removed), again, be taken with a grain of salt, and if you do find that it’s taken out of the post sooner than later, you’ll know that there’s a bit more credit to it than just a co-incidental creation by a rabid Gameloft fan. Have a peek at the timeline below to see recent Gameloft news from across the gaming universe as well, and keep on playing Asphalt 7 until the nest face-blasting title appears with an 8 on the end of it!

EA and Gameloft announce their support of Google’s Nexus devices by optimizing their games

One of the drawbacks to Android devices is that because there are so many different types of Android phones and tablets out there, with different hardware and different dimensions, developers usually have a hard time creating apps that will play nice with every Android phone or tablet out there. Well the good news is that if you were planning on picking up any of Google’s Nexus devices – the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10, you might be interested to learn that big name publishers Electronic Arts and Gameloft have announced their support for Google’s range of Nexus devices. Gameloft launching 12 popular games on Windows Phone 8

Gameloft, the popular French video game game developer and publisher, has just announced that it will bringing 12 of its most popular video games to Microsoft’s latest mobile operating system. The said titles, which includes Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour and N.O.V.A. 3: Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance, are optimized with new Xbox features for Windows Phone 8 and will allow users to access Xbox leaderboards and Xbox Achievements.

Other titles include Ice Age Village, Shark Dash, Asphalt 7: Heat, The Dark Knight Rises, UNO & Friends, Order & Chaos Online, The Amazing Spider-Man, Fashion Icon, Poker for Prizes, and Real Soccer 2013. Gameloft says that the aforementioned titles will run across all Windows 8 Phones soon from partners including Nokia, Samsung, and HTC.

“Gameloft is thrilled to be able to take advantage of the integrated Xbox gaming service on Windows Phone 8,” said Baudouin Corman Vice-President of Publishing for the Americas at Gameloft. “As smartphones continue to gain ground as one of the most widely adopted gaming devices, we see this as a great opportunity for us to optimize our titles for Windows Phone 8 users to enjoy with the platform’s new features.”

Discovery Bay Duo Gamer Bluetooth Gamepad For iOS Devices

Discovery Bay Duo Gamer Bluetooth Gamepad For iOS Devices

Amazon has started selling the Duo Gamer Bluetooth gamepad from Discovery Bay. Designed for iOS devices, the wireless gamepad features two analog sticks, four buttons in a diamond-array, two shoulder buttons and a directional pad. The Duo Gamer supports only Gameloft titles such as Asphalt 7, Order & Chaos Online, Brothers in Arms 2, N.O.V.A. 3, and Modern Combat 3. The Discovery Bay Duo Gamer Bluetooth gamepad is priced at $79.99. [Amazon]

Gameloft’s Duo Gamer is an Apple-sanctioned game pad for iOS devices

While there have been several game pads for iOS devices, it looks like as far as officially approved game pads are concerned, the Duo Gamer might be it. This is a joint effort by the folks at Discovery Bay Games and popular developer, Gameloft, who has released plenty of games on both iOS and Android to date. However given that this has Gameloft’s name written on it, we expect that it probably doesn’t come as a surprise to find out that the Duo Gamer is compatible with just Gameloft’s games. It’s kind of a bummer, we know, but given that Gameloft has plenty of games behind their name, like Asphalt 7, N.O.V.A.3  and etc., you won’t find yourself with a lack of games to play.

The game pad itself is rather simplistic in nature and will come with a D-pad, two analog sticks and four buttons for you to mash. It also comes with a Gameloft-branded stand which can be used to prop up your iOS device while playing which we have to admit is a pretty good idea. We’re not sure how well the Duo Gamer handles, but you can expect to be able to get your hands on it via various retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, Target and Apple and it should be priced at $79.99. It will also be available internationally in the Fall of 2012. It’s admittedly pretty pricey but if you play many Gameloft games then perhaps you can justify its cost.

Gameloft’s New iOS Wireless Controller Is a Portable iCade [Gaming]

ThinkGeek’s adorable iCade is genius. It turns your iPad into a little arcade! Asteroids forever! If it has a drawback, it’s that, well, it kind of destroys the iPad’s portability. Meet the Bluetooth Duo Gamer controller, which sheds the cabinet for a dock that’ll fit in your backpack. More »

Gameloft’s Wild Blood now available for download on iTunes, coming to Android soon

Yesterday we reported that Gameloft’s Wild Blood game could be making its way onto iTunes App Stores around the world today, and it certainly looks like that is the case! If you love Gameloft’s offerings so far, then Wild Blood is a Gameloft game you might want to get in on, especially since it will be powered by the Unreal Engine which means that gamers can look forward to some pretty impressive graphics (as far as mobile devices are concerned). It is available for both the iPhone and the iPad and if you’re wondering when the Android version will hit, it is expected to make its way to the Google Play stores “soon”, which hopefully doesn’t translate into a long wait for Android gamers. While we have to try it out for ourselves, comments left by gamers have painted it in a pretty good light, so head on over to iTunes for the download.

Gameloft’s Wild Blood could be available for iOS tomorrow

A couple of weeks ago, we reported that Gameloft had released a gameplay footage video of their Unreal Engine powered game, Wild Blood. A release date had yet to be mentioned then, but according to the folks at Pocket Gamer, it seems that if you’re on iOS and you’re looking forward to playing the game, you should be able to do so tomorrow because the game has already been released in the New Zealand App Store, which apparently is an indicator that it will be launched for everyone else the next day. If you’re looking forward to playing it, expect to fork out $6.99 for it. No word on when it will be hitting Google Play but hopefully it should be around the same time as well. In any case if any of our readers in New Zealand have downloaded the game already, let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
