While the winter months mean there aren’t nearly as many bugs to contend with, warmer weather will bring them back. Even though you should enjoy that aspect amidst the frigid weather, it’s always in the back of your mind that they will return. If you like planning in advance for the oncoming assault from many-legged and/or flying pests, then you’ll want to get your arsenal ready now. Thankfully, these sorts of products are normally cheaper around now as the demand isn’t as high.

The Executioner Pro might look like a tennis racket, but the only thing it serves up is death. It’s a fly swatter that will also zap anything it comes into contact with. It’s made from ABS plastic, and runs on alkaline batteries. The only thing you’ll have to master if you get your hands on ths is the art of knowing where a bug will be before you swing. It truly is a skill to swing at where something will be, rather than where it is.

Of course, that will take some practice, and you’ll have to decide whether or not you want to spend $30 to work on your aim. Seeing that it’s only January, you’ll have plenty of time to decide on your method of keeping the bugs at bay before spring. If you don’t like being the direct cause of death to another living creature, then there are plenty of natural methods to deter them from coming too close to or inside of your home.

Every time there is a gift-giving event such as a holiday or birthday, there is one thing which there is excess of at the end. Wrapping paper from presents is all over the place, and it will likely be stuffed in the trash, and end up on a landfill somewhere. Thankfully this decomposes, but what if it in itself could be a present on top of whatever it’s hiding? Less trash and more present, sounds great, right?

Eden’s Paper is a plantable wrapping paper that will allow you to stuff it in the ground after you tear it off of your gift. This means it can later become part of your meal. Talk about a gift that keeps on giving! It’s paper that has the seeds of various plants embedded into it. Currently there are only options for carrots, tomatoes, broccoli, chilli, and onion, but there may be more choices in the future. Can you imagine giving a gift in the Spring and having paper that could later become flowers or herbs?

While this crowdfunding campaign is aiming for Christmas, the timing might have been off a bit aesthetically. These have vegetable print on them to signify what they could later become, which doesn’t really fit in with the holiday theme. This is a great idea, but one that will likely be far more sought-after in the warmer months. If you are interested, putting in $20 will get you three sheets of whichever type of vegetable seeded paper you’d like.

I don’t know about you, but don’t you think that the weather channel is more or less obsolete these days? I know that I have not relied on the weather report for more than a decade or two already, but perhaps it is just me, as I have yet to perform a survey to figure out whether the weather channel is relevant or not. During winter, kids would always love to hear that school is closed because too much snow has fallen over the night – which translates to having a round of snowball fights and perhaps spending some family time building a snowman with dad and mom.

It seems silly, but you can get attached to a writing implement over time. One pencil can become so familiar to you that you feel as though it is an extension of your arm in the same way a sword would be for a warrior. Those who opt to not use a mechanical pencil are faced with the inevitable task of having to throw away the tiniest nub of a pencil.

If you don’t want to waste any of your utensil, then start using Sprout Pencils instead. These are familiar in that they are graphite pencils surrounded by wood. They sharpen the same way, and look about the same as any other. However, these have a little surprise at the end, much like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

Summer brings to us many splendid occasions that can only be enjoyed in warmer weather. Swimming in the lake, campfires that you don’t have to huddle around solely for warmth, and sitting out on the grass to read a book. While these situations are relaxing and fun, there is one creature on this planet that wants to try to rain on your parade.
