Playable Tetris Business Card Will Get You the Job

This business card trumps all others. Just give up. You can’t win. This is the ultimate business card. It is designed to look like a Nintendo Game Boy and it even includes a working version of Tetris.

Not only will you get the job, but your new boss will be very busy playing Tetris all day long, so you can slack off once you’re hired. Kevin Bates created this awesome business card, which is just 1.6 millimeter thick and based on a stripped down Arduino board. A coin cell battery powers the whole thing for nine hours of life.

Well done sir. May I have your card? I’m not hiring or buying anything, I just want to play a quick game or two.

Get out Your Tow Cables, the AT-AT Rocking Horse Is Finished

Remember that AT-AT rocking horse that we all wanted, even though it wasn’t even painted or detailed? Well, now it is finished. Behold the rocking horse for young Imperial forces in training.

This was one of the coolest kids toys we had seen in some time and now that it is finished, it looks even cooler and we want one. Cakewrecks and EPBOT creator Jen Yates has finally finished this masterpiece and it has all the right details.

She added a seat back and an extra sturdy T-bar handle for safety, along with some extra-long bumpers on the bottom rails to prevent it from rocking too far. To quote Vader, “Most impressive!”

Fan Gives Himself PlayStation Platinum Trophy Replica: I’d Like to Thank Myself…

Avid PlayStation gamer Blackangel887462 loves to collect Platinum trophies, a virtual achievement awarded for obtaining all of the lower tier – Bronze, Silver and Gold trophies – achievements in a PlayStation game. To celebrate his 500th Platinum trophy he commissioned a replica of the award.

Even though it’s not made of platinum, the trophy still cost Blackangel887462 quite a bit of change. He won’t say the exact amount, only that the trophy turned out to be more expensive than four DualShock 4 controllers, which more or less adds up to $240 (USD).

Real Wood PS4 Skins > Fake Wood PS4 Skins

We’ve featured some vinyl decals that will make your PS4 console look like it’s made from wood, but now you can actually wrap your shiny new console in real wood.

A company in Germany called Balolo has released a stick-on cover for the PS4 that’s actually cut from genuine hardwood. You can mix and match from bamboo, cherry, walnut or zebrawood to make your console look just that much more awesome.

Each piece is made from laser-cut wood veneers, with a durable adhesive on back. What isn’t clear is how well the adhesive and wood holds up to the heat the console puts out over time, or if it affects the thermal properties of the PS4 at all. Still, it sure looks cool and I’m thinking about redoing mine after seeing these.

The kit sells for €149.90 (~$205 USD), or you can purchase a console with the wood facade already applied for €599.90 (~$829 USD). Here in the States it’s a much better deal to just buy a $400 PS4 and then install the wood grain yourself. Now about that controller…

A Song of Ice and Fire Battle Damaged Action Figures: Toys of Wood and Paint

[SPOILERS] Craftsman and artist Mick Minogue made action figure-style woodcuts of some of Westeros’ infamously battered – or worse – characters for the Winter is Coming art show at the Ltd. Art Gallery. Needless to say, the figures give away some of the novels’ plot points and are most certainly not for kids.

Mick also made high quality packaging for the action figures, each with a funny blurb that alludes to the fate of the characters. Mick also said that the art show is based not on the HBO TV series Game of Thrones but on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels, allowing Mick and the other artists to give their own interpretations of how the characters looked.

That last figure. Man. You’re on Arya’s list now Mick. Mick made eight action figures; if you can’t check them out at the Ltd. Gallery, keep an eye on Mick’s Facebook page, where he’ll share photos of the other toys. Mick also said he might make more aside from the ones he made for the show. It’s not like he’s lacking for material.

Steampunk Tardis and Dalek Deserve Their Own Show

This steampunk TARDIS and Dalek are amazing. You see this BBC? If you are planning a spin-off, this is what you want right here!

These steampunk versions of a Dalek and the Doctor’s TARDIS are really fun. And shiny! Emma J made these beautiful steampunk toys. She is a member of the Playmobil Collectors Club. I had no idea they had a collectors club, but now that I see what is going on over there, I’m in.

The outside of this TARDIS is a perfect match for that wood-themed console room that the 4th Doctor used occasionally. This is awesomesauce all over a rad burger. I want them so bad.

Full-Size TARDIS Replica Made from Cardboard

The Doctor Who merchandising machine has reached down bestowed us with yet another piece of swag. A new product is coming your way that is really cool and reminds me a bit of the box forts we made as kids. Rather than having to get out the markers and a steak knife to customize your own cardboard creation, all you have to do is put this one together.

tardis boxmagnify

The finished product is a life-size TARDIS replica. According to the product description, the cardboard TARDIS measures 55″ square and stands 180″ tall. That second dimension doesn’t sound right though. That would make the guy in the picture a 10-foot-tall giant. Also, this TARDIS isn’t any bigger on the inside. It’s exactly as it looks on the outside – minus the thickness of the cardboard.

You can pre-order the cardboard contraption from Urban-Collector for $224.99(USD). The estimated release for the cardboard TARDIS is May 2014. This would go very well with your TARDIS cat condo.

Game Boy Costume Uses Huge Cartridges to Switch Games

Back in 2009 we found a Game Boy costume that played Tetris. It had working buttons and had a laptop running an emulator. It turns out that anonymous cosplayer kept on working on his hack and showed off its latest version at the 2014 Ohayocon.

game boy costume with cartridges powered by raspberry pimagnify

Aside from its much improved case, the costume can now switch games, which is done by inserting equally huge cartridge replicas into a slot… somewhere in the back of the costume. Seriously though Redditor Dacaris says the cosplayer told him that the whole thing is controlled by a Raspberry Pi. The cartridges “had slots cut in them so they would press different button combinations when they were inserted, and those told the raspberry pi which game to load.” Here’s a video of the costume shared by YouTuber MidgarZolom:

I bet he calls his jewels Select and Start.
