Halo Fan Made Kat Armor is out of This Reach

The cool and detailed armor of characters from the Halo universe means it’s quite hard to emulate them in cosplay. Unless you happen to be a pale, short-haired 6’7″ 287 lb. male, in which case you can just come as yourself and say you’re John-117. A cosplayer going by the handle LilTyrant decided to dress up as Kat, and that’s exactly what she did.

For reference, IGN’s Halo Wiki has a screenshot of Kat, who as many of you know is from Halo: Reach. Note that LilTyrant’s costume doesn’t have Kat’s helmet cam and tactical case, but she did say she’ll those later on. We’ll cut her some slack because she wanted to finish this by Halloween, she said she’s still “new to armor making” and because the costume is freakin’ awesome.

Unlike most cosplayers I’ve seen, LilTyrant was kind – and obsessed – enough to document practically every step she took to make her armor. She doesn’t just dress as Kat, she’s as smart as Kat. Head to the 405th Infantry Division to see her guide. Microsoft should hire her to make cosplay versions of the Halo 4 armor.

Man-Eater Game Encourages Urban Commuters to Chomp on Pedestrians

Nobody wants to be called a man-eater. People have been singing about them for years but it’s hardly a compliment to be called one. But a man-eater is what you have to become if you want to top the high-score charts in this urban game aptly called Man-Eater.

Man EaterDaniel Disselkoen played with the man-eater concept and came up with the game for his graduation project at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.

To play, the people in the tram simply have to close one eye and adjust their position relative to that of the man-eater that’s stuck onto the window of the tram. As the vehicle moves, they must then try to ‘eat’ as many pedestrian heads as they can.

Daniel explains the reasoning behind the game: “Why would you look out the window with curiosity when there is no reason to expect anything new?”

Man-Eater is pretty simple but I think it can make people want to look out the window more.

Freaky Baby Monster Dolls Will Make You Never Want to Have Kids

If there’s one thing that’s for sure, it’s that you can find some really odd stuff if you dig around deep enough over on Etsy. For instance, while I was searching for some zombie-related items, I came across this monstrosity.

zombie baby

These creeptastic, realistic baby dolls are made by Washington state artist Bean Shanine of The Twisted Beanstalk Nursery, and they’re sure to give you some freaky dreams if you so much as look into their dead eyes. In addition to the “reborn” zombie baby above, you can also find in her shop a Twilight vampire baby, complete with fangs and red eyes.

If you’re into this kind of freaky stuff, then you can “adopt” one of these babies over on Etsy for about $650(USD). Oh, and be sure to buy some formula to feed it with. Be sure to check out more of Bean’s creepy babies over on her website.

Master Chief Stained Glass is a Masterpiece of Halo Fan Art

Stained glass seems to be having some sort of a geeky renaissance period. So why shouldn’t Halo get in on the colored translucent glass action? Well, okay then…

master chief stained glass 1

This impeccably detailed Master Chief stained glass window was made by Evan Daniels of Martian Glass Works. It’s just about perfect. The only thing it’s missing is a little glowing blue Cortana floating around and guiding Chief’s way as he takes on the Covenant and countless other nasties.

Measuring in at 50″(H) x 40″(W) and made up out of about 200 pieces of glass, it’s an impressive feat for sure. It took Evan about 70 hours to construct. Of course, all of that work is bound to be worth something, and the big glass Chief is selling for a whopping $3000(USD). But even if you can’t afford it, you should pop on over to Etsy and admire it from afar.

If Batman Can Have a Batmobile, Why Can’t Doctor Who Have a TARDIS-Mobile?

While the TARDIS seems like a pretty decent way to travel through space and time, it’s not exactly the best vehicle for getting through rush hour traffic on the expressway. This ride seems like it might be a better mode of urban transportation, especially along with today’s best GPS navigation systems.

This mashup between a TARDIS and a Scion xB was created by DeviantArtist ~Ificial-Art, and it looks awesome. I’ve been told that it’s so big inside that it seats 100. That could make for the ultimate clown car.

Unfortunately, it’s just a Photoshop job and not a real car. Though I think if a car manufacturer were to make these for real, they’d sell millions thousands hundreds dozens at least a few to some diehard Whovians out there.

Impress Prospective Clients and Employers with Some Star Wars Business Cards

If you fail to make an impression in person, then your next chance at doing so is with your business card. Business cards can make or break what your prospective boss or business partner will think of you. Case in point: who’d want to hire a guy with a sloppy-looking card?

If your line of work requires you to be a geek, then might I suggest getting cards made up like these Star Wars-themed business cards?

Star Wars Business CardsApparently, these were fan-made cards that were popular in the 1980s. Because Star Wars is so awesome, these cards are still making the rounds over twenty years later. Check out the gallery for the full series of cards.

Thanksgiving Dinner in Cupcake Form: No More Undercooked Turkey!

People everywhere are having to cook a delicious meal for a bunch of greedy mouths this upcoming Thanksgiving, but don’t crack under the pressure. Don’t crack, friends, because you don’t need to hold all of that weight yourselves – I have a couple of tips to give! (Also, you’re not an egg, no matter what your body shape may tell you.) The first is to tell all of your relatives that they should arrive at a time that is two hours before the actual time. This way, they are obligated to help you cook! The second is to just buy some Boston Market and then deem it homemade.

These Thanksgiving Dinner Cupcakes are another perfect way to shirk your duties, if you’re lazy like I am, but they’re also a perfect addition to any hard-planned Thanksgiving meal. As most of us know, dessert is the most important part anyway. That’s why I just eat it first and second.

These cupcakes look delicious on several different levels – sweet potato cupcakes? AM I IN HEAVEN? There’s a wonderful tutorial available on Make.Bake.Celebrate, the home of food geniuses, but you don’t need to look at that. Just have someone else make them so that you can act as the professional “food tester.” You know, just to make sure they’re not poisoned. WHAT IF THEY POISONED THEM IN BETWEEN BITES? I guess I’ll just have to eat all of them to make sure.

These cupcakes are great, but there are definitely more to be found, since you can never have enough of this wonderful creation. Check out the Frankenweenie Cupcakes and the Fried Cupcake Nuggets, which make me drool all over myself.

LEGO Time Twister 2 Clock: Time is Better the Second Time Around

About a year ago, I spotted this cool mechanical LEGO clock called the Time Twister. It was a pretty amazing build, recreating the segmented display of an LCD clock, entirely with LEGO parts. Well its builder, Hans Andersson is back with a new version – the Time Twister 2.

time twister 2 lego clock digits

The updated version of the clock has a more finished look than the original, more closely mimicking the style of an LED timepiece with a light-on-dark display.

time twister 2 lego clock mech

Mechanically, it looks different too, though the basic principles are the same. It’s built from LEGO blocks, Mindstorms NXT Controllers and servo mechanisms interconnected to gradually rotate and reveal segments of the digits which comprise the current time. Here, check it out in action:

Cool, no? I think so. Hans needs to figure out a way to mass-produce these – or at least sell an instruction kit along with a parts list. I would certainly love to have a clock this cool somewhere in my home or office – though the sound of the motors constantly whirring away might get on my nerves after a while. Nah, I’ll just buy some earplugs if I must.

LEGO Pop-up Building Makes Eyeballs Pop out of Their Sockets

Every time I think I’ve seen every possible LEGO contraption you could build, somebody comes along and makes something I’ve never imagined. This time, we’ve got a giant folding LEGO structure that works like a pop-up book.

lego pop up building

It wasn’t enough for Japanese LEGO fanatic Talapz to simply create an architectural model of the Todai-ji Buddhist temple. Nope. He had to show off and make one that could actually fold up. Here, check it out:

Pretty nifty, eh? It turns out this isn’t the first folding LEGO building Talapz has made – back in 2009 he built another, though the 2012 model and folding mechanism is even more impressive.

Stick around to the end of the first video to see exactly how he built it.

I am… Zombie Iron Man

Things are looking stark for Tony Stark. It seems as if some zombies have bitten through his armor and turned him into a Zombie. If Iron Man can be turned into a Zombie, what chance do the rest of us have?
Zombie Iron Man
Now, I don’t know anything about Zombie teeth, but I’m not sure how they got through his gold-titanium alloy armor. Maybe some evil opponent of Iron Man’s created some super Zombies with some amazing can-opener teeth. I have no idea. I just know that we are all screwed now that one of Earth’s finest heroes has fallen.

Actually we are safe. This is the work of Cosplay artist Kyosti Kallio and the photos are by Adam Jay. Thank god. I was getting scared.
