Cthulhu Wall Sconce: The Darkest Light

This Cthulhu lamp is very impressive and intimidating. You have to be brave to decorate with this kind of lighting. It was made by Karl Dupéré-Richer, who clearly knows how to terrorize and decorate at the same time.

It was made using “the back of one PVC patio chair, 14 chair feet, one flowerpot, one umbrella base, two bike tires, 30 cans, many pieces of PVC pipes, one acrylic globe light, some car body parts, a few pieces of garden hose and about 1,000 devoured human souls.”

That sounds like Cthulhu’s diet alright. This thing is just amazing. I love how those eyes glow as if he has just awakened and is ready to steal your soul.

The lamp hangs proudly on the wall at the EtOH Brasserie in Montreal, Canada. And if you have any doubt just how awesome this thing is, wait til you see how huge it is…

Forensics Reveal the Face of Crystal Head Vodka

You know how forensic artists are. They can’t pass up an opportunity to take a skull and see what it looked like when it was alive. They might even be curious to see what the skull-shaped bottle of Crystal Head Vodka looked like, had it been living. Forensic artist Nigel Cockerton was just this curious.

So he got a bottle of Crystal Head Vodka and went to work, wondering just what that laughing face would look like covered with muscle, eyes, and skin.

The results are kind of what you would expect. It looks like a drunk guy laughing his ass off.

So now you have a face to think about when you are drinking straight from this bottle. As you drink, you are going to look more and more like this guy too.

Guy Builds Amazing Gremlins Puppet

Gremlins was one of my all-time favorite childhood movies. It featured just the right proportion of slapstick humor, gore and action for a teenage boy. In tribute to this classic popcorn flick, one talented artist has created a fully-functional puppet version of Stripe, one of the eponymous gremlins.

RPF contributor Batgremlin built this DIY gremlin using cast flexible foam, and built mechanical moving arms with articulating fingers, and even moving eyeballs for the little green dude. Check him out in action in the video below – my favorite part is when the puppeteers are revealed against the greenscreen.

Batgremlin doesn’t share too many details on how he built it, but I’m betting he made a Gizmo puppet first, then fed it after midnight.

Tri-Pizza: Wisdom, Courage, Pepperoni

Hundreds of years ago, three golden Italian bakers bestowed the Tri-Pizza upon us. This heavenly dish grants anyone who is wise, powerful and brave enough to overcome his laziness for 15 seconds and call a hotline with boundless joy. Only the Prothean Bacon can exceed the Tri-Pizza’s potency. Society6 member Monstruonauta honors this sacred and tasty relic with an illustration.

Mmmmm. You can get the Tri-Pizza as a print or as a graphic on t-shirts, hoodies, iPhone cases and more on Society6.

iPhone 5/5S Case Made from Real Chocolate: Chocolate Covered Apple

You’ve probably seen iPhone cases shaped like chocolate bars. These on the other hand, are chocolate bars shaped like an iPhone case.

They are made by two Portland-based companies. Woodblock Chocolate supplied the bars of dark chocolate and iPhone and iPad accessory maker Grove machined the bars into cases. I know the Internet wants to get its hands on anything absurd, but the two companies have more sense than that and won’t be selling the tasty, but highly impractical cases.

Custom Super Mario Drum Kit: What, No Donkey Konga?

This Super Mario themed drum kit was built by Josh Fry and it looks amazing. I can see Mario, Luigi, the Princess and even Toad all rocking out together.

Now Josh just needs some other Mario themed instruments and he can get a band together. They could call themselves the Peach Cobblers, or the Toadies, or Plumber’s Tape. It would sound great and for their finishing act, they could all disappear down a warp pipe.

Can I be your manager, Josh? I’ll only take 50% and demand that you lose that talentless brother of yours, Luigi.

Medieval Drawbridge Murphy Bed: Alligator-filled Moat Sold Separately

It’s bedtime, so get in your medieval pajamas, lower the drawbridge and open the gate. This castle-style Murphy bed is from Etsy seller Tiny Town Studios and comes with hand carved fake stones, chain beams, and even faux moss and vines.  drawbridge 620x465magnify

It looks awesome and I envy the kid who gets to sleep in this fold-out bed. Though I’m wondering if this means that you are sleeping over the moat. Don’t roll out of bed or you might get a surprise.

The castle Murphy bed sells for $3,500(USD). The shop can also make a pirate ship bed or a spaceship bed, or just about anything else you can dream up if this isn’t your thing.

Star Trek Rings: Resistance is Futile

These Star Trek rings from Paul Michael Design are amazing and perfect for all manner of Trekkie weddings. The Enterprise design is simply stunning.

He’s already made a wax mold of the starship ring and is working on a making the design a reality. The two-finger Starfleet logo ring is pretty cool too – it’s designed to perfectly align your fingers into a vulcan salute.

These would have been perfect for Riker and Troi’s wedding. Or Worf and Dax. Or Quark and his latinum. I hope he makes a Klingon ring someday. That would be awesome. How do you make a Klingon ring, you ask? Just lure them into a standard orbit and fire away. The debris will make a ring around the planet.

They’re perfect for boldly going where you have never gone before, aka marriage.

Game Frame Pixel Art Frame: 8-Bit Lite Brite

Show off your love for retro gaming with this animated pixel art frame. Similar to the Pixel and Pixel V2Game Frame is a digital canvas that can be loaded up with hundreds of your favorite 8-bit video game characters and symbols. Time to show off some 8-bit art in your home.

game framemagnify

Basically the frame is a grid of 256 ultra-bright LED pixels, for showing off all kinds of geek art. In fact, Game Frame comes with over 40 brand new animations from eBoy. The hardware is Arduino-based, and the complete source code will be released once they ship. Thousands of images & animations can be stored on SD and played back the way you want, configured by two buttons on top.

While it’s not as high resolution as the Pixel, there’s something to be said for the chunky square LED pixels on the Game Frame.

A pledge of at least $230(USD) will get you a completely assembled Game Frame, while you can pick up a kit version with all components but the frame for $150, or without the LEDs for $60.
