Crochet Amigurumi Stuffed Tauntaun: Soft Hoth

This adorable crocheted Tauntaun will be a great addition to your other plush Star Wars toys. He will look great on your shelf, your couch, in your bed or wherever. He isn’t big enough to cut open if you are facing bitter cold temps though. Which is good, considering the smell.

This cute little guy stands about 5-1/4″ tall and even has a saddle for a rider. It comes from Etsy artist underafeymoon and will cost you about $14(USD). Display it with your Luke Skywalker action figure as a rider and he will look great in your collection.

Just kidding about the smell. It doesn’t smell like a real Tauntaun.

Adafruit 3D Printed LED Coat Buttons: The Brightest Buttons to Button

Make your clothes stand out with these LED-equipped and 3D printed buttons. Electronics shop Adafruit shared this project last January to help keep folks visible in snowy winter nights, but unless it’s always bright and sunny where you are then you’ll still find a use for these buttons.

Aside from the 3D printed button cases, the main components of this device are the GEMMA electronic board and the Flora NeoPixel RGB LEDs. Watch the video to find out how to put them together.

As always you can find instructions and links to all components on Adafruit’s website. I’m sure you can make the electronics fit in other 3D printed cases, like a replica of Iron Man’s arc reactor.

Game of Social Thrones Opening

Are you tired of the battle for the Iron Throne? Sick of seeing the great houses of Westeros fight? Well, get ready for A Game of Social Thrones. King’s Landing is Instagram. Lands across the Narrow Sea? Twitter.

This parody comes from HootSuite. It is a fun take on the opening credits of Game of Thrones that makes it all about social media. It is very nicely done. Just like great houses of Westeros, social media giants rise and fall so the map is constantly changing.

In the game of social thrones you win or you lose users. There is no middle ground. You can be a Facebook or a Myspace. Or Friendster.

Sonic Screwdriver Wand: Doctor Potter? Harry Who?

If you like your Harry Potter mixed with some Doctor Who, this is your lucky day. Here is a sonic screwdriver wand. You can make your own. But is it magic or science? It is both and it is amazing.

sonic wand 620x620magnify

Both Harry and the Doctor would love this. It was created by Instructables contributor CabbitCastle. Someone wanted him to make a wand of the Tenth Doctor’s sonic screwdriver, so he made plans in Photoshop and used a lathe to make it. The wand box was made from poster board and foam pads, and naturally, it’s been decorated to look like a TARDIS.

Tutorials for each project are available so you can make both the wand and box. Now you are almost ready to cosplay as Doctor Harry Potter. All you need is a pair of glasses and trenchcoat.

Millennium Falcon Chevy Malibu: Why Not a Ford Falcon?

You’ve never heard of the Millennium Falcon? It’s the car that made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs. I had to stop for gas like five times though. The choice of vehicle for this amazing customization is actually appropriate when you stop to think that Star Wars takes place a long time ago.

It was built by Bill Deacon from a 1974 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Classic. This image comes from Star Wars Celebration IV back in 2007, but you are seeing it now because it is super cool. That cockpit mounted on passenger-side mirror even has action figures of Han Solo and Chewbacca inside. Naturally, its license plate reads HANCHWY. Apparently it also has a TIE fighter hood ornament but apparently it’s currently out on a mission.

I hope Bill is still driving this thing. She may not look like much, but she’s got it where it counts, kid.

Game of Thrones Dragon Egg Replicas Won’t Hatch In Fire

Game of Thrones fans get out your wallets. ThinkGeek has a set of replica dragon eggs that you know you want to add to your collection. There are three egg replicas in the box. Each of the eggs isn’t a petrified dragon, rather they are made from resin.

The box is made from Cunninghamia wood and lined with black silk. The fittings on the box are made from brass. The replica eggs are official Game of Thrones licensed merchandise.

Fallout 3 Vault Boy Bobbleheads: S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Collectibles

Bethesda has released replicas of some of the Vault Boy Bobbleheads that you can collect in Fallout 3. Fortunately you won’t have to look far and wide for the figurines. Unfortunately they won’t increase your stats. You’ll just have to find another way to be better at Energy Weapons.

Each figurine stands 5″ tall including the base and is made of PVC.

Game Of Gnomes: Throne of a Thousand Shovels

Garden gnomes are supposed to protect your garden. So what kind of gnome do you trust with the job? One of those happy gnomes you see everywhere or a gnome that knows how to play the Game of Gnomes? I trust the latter.

Your garden will be safe with Ned Bark guarding it. He is Lord of the North of Grassteros and sits on the Throne of a Thousand Shovels in King’s Lawnding. In the Game of Gnomes you grow or you die, there is no middle ground.

There will be blood. And dirt. This little guy is made of cement, hand casted, hand painted, and then sealed in outdoor weather sealer. He’s just $79.99(USD) from Chris and Jane’s Place. Spring is coming. Will you be ready?

Doctor Who Doctors Playing Poker

We’ve all seen the famous Dogs Playing Poker paintings. The Doctors Playing Poker version is soooo much better. It is the work of artist SugarHappyJax, who should really write for the show. I would have totally watched this episode.
doctor who playing poker 620x410magnify

It shows the 4th, 9th, 10th and 11th Doctors all playing a game of poker with a Cyberman, a Dalek and the Master (Anthony Ainley version). It has a lot of nice details, like Van Gogh’s exploding TARDIS painting, playing cards with K-9 on the back, the fez, even the crack in time.

This painting is well worth the $500(USD) asking price.

deviantART member TheRafa bagged second place. In Among the Dead, TheRafa featured the new Crusader class about to engage the Reaper of Souls himself, Angel of Death Malthael.

Yong Jun Cho aka nixell won third place with his badass Monk art, Fist of Conviction. This is actually my favorite among the three.

Congratulations to all the winners! You deserve your epic loot. Use this waypoint to deviantART to check out what Christian had to say about each winning artwork, and be sure to admire them in their full resolution on their respective artists’ pages. I highly recommend looking at the other submissions as well.
