Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Push Car is Paranormal

When Cory Newton-Smith made her son Cooper’s DeLorean push car last Halloween, she said that she would love to make epic costumes for her son every year. Fortunately for us, Cory and her husband Jeremy stuck to that promise. This year they dressed up Cooper as a Ghostbuster for Halloween. Naturally his push car had to go as Ecto-1.

Cory modified Cooper’s push car using “cardboard boxes repurposed from their recent move, spare electronics from an old vehicle, salsa cups from Mexican take-out, empty pop bottles, LEDs from the local electronics store, and some paint and tape.” Cory also bought felt replicas of the Proton Pack and Ghost Trap from Etsy shop owner Jezebel Rose. Cooper’s dad Jeremy also stepped up his game from last year. He installed LED lights and Bluetooth speakers that they can use to play the Ghostbusters theme and sound effects from a Windows Phone app.

Mega Man Bosses Bead Portraits: Rock’s Gallery

You don’t get to 10 Mega Man games without making a few enemies. 80 of them to be specific. Patrick Merrifield reminds us just how difficult the Blue Bomber’s life is with his massive masterpiece. Patrick made bead portraits of each of the Robot Masters that Rock faced in the classic Mega Man series.

Patrick said it took him over 90 hours and more than 67,000 beads to put the collection together. I don’t think I’ve ever arranged a thousand of anything. And yes, it is a collection of portraits, not one big wall, so you can split them however you want. You can’t buy them separately though. Here’s a closer look at one of the portraits.

Turn into Pay Man and buy the collection from Patrick’s Etsy shop for $1,000 (USD).

These Life-Size Dinosaurs Are Made from Carved Pumpkins

These life-sized dinosaurs are made from many carved pumpkins. They look like they are a special breed of mutant, irradiated giants. Man, I wish these bright beasts came out every year, only on Halloween night, only to disappear in the mists come morning. I would be an awesome mutant dino hunter. I would make glowing pumpkin pies from their carcasses and every Halloween, the hunt would begin again.

Well, I’m just going to have to settle for these awesome pics. These giant dinosaur skeletons were on display at The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze in New York for the last few years. They do a dinosaur category every year and the creations are amazing.

The detail is impressive to say the least. And you were so proud of your little scary pumpkin! Hit the link for more images.

USS Enterprise vs. Millennium Falcon Jack-o’-Lantern

Worf: Captain. There is an anomaly dead ahead. Too late! We have entered a galaxy far, far away. So far away I’m not getting any accurate readings. Oh, and we are also now in a time period that the computer will only say is a “long time ago”.

Picard: What is that Worf? Is that a ship? It looks a bit like that hamburger the replicator served me for lunch not one hour ago. With a satellite dish on top. Red alert! Raise shields!

This awesome pumpkin is the only crossover between Star Wars and Star Trek that I want to see. Who would win? Picard and Kirk are a seasoned starship Captains with years on their side, but Han Solo is rough and tumble and has the reckless asset of youth. He also has a Wookiee co-pilot by his side, who could probably rip the arms off of pretty much any member of the Enterprise’s crew.

This pumpkin is from master pumpkin carver Alex Wer. Check out his entire gallery here.

Flying R/C Quadcopter Ghost Will Scare the Bejeezus out of Trick-or-Treaters

The flying R/C quadcopter ghost made by Alton Porter is so awesome that it’s almost cruel to the people who might come across it this Halloween. It was built with the intention of freaking out trick-or-treaters, which I’m sure it will be able to do.

Alton’s robotic ghost has glowing eyes embedded into it for that extra creepy factor. Imagine the sheer terror of trick-or-treaters when they notice this thing hovering towards them after pressing Alton’s doorbell.

If you have a quadcopter of your own, then you might want to take a cue from Alton and dress yours up in ghostly garb, too, so you can hand out your own scares when the trick-or-treaters come a-knocking.

Pokémon X/Y Creature Map: Catchtography

Redditor Bobdor made a very useful map that lists the Pokémon available in Pokémon X/Y based on where you can catch them. Instead of selling or even asking donations for the map, Bobdor chose to share it with all of us for free. That’s the spirit of Kalos at work. Depending on what you want to get from the games, the map could either be a minor or a major spoiler. I think it’s an essential cheat sheet, much like the type chart.

Aside from organizing the creatures by locale, Bobdor also included a list of Pokémon that you can only obtain through evolution or Friend Safari. The only major omission in Bobdor’s map is the list of unobtainable Pokémon that you can only have in Pokémon X/Y if you already got them in previous Pokémon games, but again Bobdor has done more than enough.

Ready to catch ‘em all? You can download Bobdor’s map as a PNG file or as a PDF file. Redditor Thorium also setup an online version of the map if for some reason you don’t want to keep a copy of it. Forget about Goomy, Honedge and Hawlucha; we should be making Bobdor memes and fan art.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Metallic Flake Nintendo 64 Casemod: Twilight Prince

Link isn’t known for being flashy or even stylish, but fans still associate him and his series with bling, thanks to Nintendo’s tradition of releasing gold cartridges and systems for The Legend of Zelda games. The talented console modder Zoki64 and his customer steal that trick from Nintendo and then some by making a sparkly Ocarina of Time-themed Nintendo 64.

Zoki64 gave the console a metal flake finish, causing it to twinkle in direct light like an angsty vampire.

Put your shades on and skip to about 0:30 in the video below:

Zoki64 also made a more subdued gold Zelda casemod but with a Famicom console. Check that out and the rest of his eye-popping work on his deviantART page.

Back to the Future DeLorean Kid’s Push Car: 1.21 Gigaawwww

Other kids might be ashamed to ride next to the kid in the Normandy stroller, but not baby Cooper. Thanks to his mom Cooper has a flying DeLorean push car, and it didn’t take a ton of power to make. Just some cardboard, tape, paint, EL strips and of course a tiny red puffy vest.

Cooper’s mom and Instructables member Cory4281 made the car last year for Halloween. She attached the DeLorean’s parts on top of a Step2 push car. I love the small details in the car, like the cutouts. But the best part has to be how Cory4281 made it so the actual car’s wheels are now hidden, making it look like Cooper has a floating ride.

Real Life Instagram: Life Imitating App

Last year we saw a concept for a pair of glasses that applies Instagram’s filters through its lenses. Bruno Ribeiro took a more literal approach with his Real Life Instagram series, taking not just Instagram’s filters but its entire interface into the real world.

But the thing that makes Real Life Instagram so effective is its acknowledgement of the app users’ tastes. Bruno frames random objects – oftentimes just portions of them – with his cardboard interface, pre-liked and pre-hashtagged.

Instagramception. Ah, the failure of freedom. When you give everyone the ability to express themselves, you’ll quickly realize that most of us don’t have anything worthwhile to say. But I’d still take that over silence any day.

The Princess Bride Playing Cards are Inconceivable

One of my all-time favorite films is The Princess Bride. I once got into a fist fight with a kid back in the day who said it was a girls’ movie. I’ve watched the movie more times than I can count and my eight-year-old daughter likes it so much she named her chihuahua Buttercup. If you’re a fan of the movie too, you’ll love this Kickstarter project that is already met its funding goal with 29 days to go.

pb 1magnify

The project is seeking to make a deck of The Princess Bride playing cards. The people behind the project are keeping most of the artwork for the deck of cards to themselves. The cards we have seen have Wesley as the King. The designers promise every card will be based on the movie.

pb 2magnify

The deck will also have custom jokers and a special magic finish that allows the cards to handle smoothly and last longer than cheaper cards. The deck will also include a unique gaff card designed to be used for card tricks. The project is seeking $10,000 and has raised over $34,000 so far with 29 days to go. A pledge of $15 or more will get you a single deck of cards with delivery estimated for July 2014.
