Jawa Sandcrawler Soap: Fortress of Cleanliness

Geeky soaps are becoming more and more detailed. I still remember being impressed by the D20 soap and the controller soaps. But now we have soaps that look like freakin’ sandcrawlers. This thing looks good enough to be a toy!

The soap weighs 2.5 oz and is made from natural and vegan-friendly ingredients. The only missing detail is an interior filled with scavenged droid parts, but I’m sure they’re working on this.

Rubber Band Machine Gun Is Fully Automatic, but Reloading Isn’t

We’ve featured a variety of rapid fire rubber band guns before, but they were either custom made or crazy expensive. XYZbot is here for us poor, lazy and non-mechanically-inclined folks. They launched a Kickstarter fundraiser for a fully automatic and electric rubber band machine gun that’s cheap and easy to assemble.

rubber band machine gunmagnify

The gun is made of laser cut wood. All you need is a pair of pliers, a screwdriver and 30 minutes of your time to assemble the gun. Judging from the image and the video, you’ll need five AA batteries as well, which is a bummer. I suppose you can use rechargeable batteries to cut down on costs and waste. The gun only has one mode, rapid fire, which spews rubber bands at about 800 rounds per minute. You can only load 64 rubber bands at a time though. XYZbot said you can try loading two rubber bands per slot for a total of 128, but you’ll have to be more careful – and more patient – when loading.

Now comes the best part: a pledge of at least $49 (USD) on Kickstarter will be enough to get you a kit. You can also pledge at least $59 to get the gun in time for Christmas.

8-bit Willow Plates: Fine Gaming

When artist Olly Moss first posted images of his video game-themed dinnerware, the Internet exploded with so much want. If you’re one of those people who coveted his geeky take on the Willow pattern, you’re in luck. The plates are on sale, but only for a very short time.

In case this is the first time you’ve heard of these plates, they look like something your grandparents would use from afar. But if you look closer you’ll see that the plates feature scenes from either Pokémon or The Legend of Zelda.

You can order the 8-bit Willow Plates from Olly Moss’ online shop for $60 (USD) each or $200 for four plates. But they’ll only be on sale until tomorrow (10/7/13 at 12pm GMT) so act quickly.

Video Game Pint Glasses Hold 2600 Ounces (Not Really)

These simply designed video game glasses are great. Your beer is going to look awesome against a backdrop of Galaga aliens, Space Invaders, the Pac-Man maze or Centipede.

You can get all of the games I just mentioned and they all look amazing. This will certainly impress your friends whenever you have them over. In fact, they might just try to walk off with a glass or two.

They are made by Etsy seller CrawlspaceStudios and will cost you about $20(USD) for a pair of two.

I’m going to get myself a set of these. The drunker I get, the more those Space Invaders will move.

Poké Ball Engagement Ring: You Can’t Catch Them All, but You Can Catch One

So you have been trying to catch all of the Pokémon you can, but you have found one that is that special someone. What better way to say, “I choose you!” then to give them this Poké Ball engagement ring? This is the height of class for Pokémon fans who want to end the chase and settle down.

This Pokéball engagement ring was designed by jeweler Arts & Gems. It is the Pokémon trainer’s ring.

It has a ruby and cubic zirconium Pokéball as the center stone with green gems on either side to represent health at the beginning of a battle. Sadly for all of you Poké-nerds this is just a concept, but the artist says that due to demand they will be producing it soon.

Let’s face it you can’t catch them all. For one thing they just keep creating new Pokémon and upping the price of merchandise. It’s better just to catch one very special Pokémon and stick with it.

Musical Life-Sized Treasure Chest from the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

The Zelda games have some pretty cool treasure chests and if you want one for yourself, you don’t need to plunder a dungeon or defeat a boss to get one. This neat musical life-sized treasure chest based on the ones in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask should fill the bill.

It comes from Etsy seller BygonesandPowerUps, who clearly knows her way around a dungeon. This chest is made of wood and stained in pine. It is about 5.75 inches deep when opened, not including the domed lid.

As an added bonus, when you open this one you hear the chest-opening fanfare sound from Zelda: A Link to the Past:

The life-sized Zelda treasure chest will cost you $150(USD) – I wonder how much that works out to in Rupees.

Glass R2-D2 Sculpture: Handle this Droid with Care

I always knew that C-3PO was easily broken. I mean he is all prissy and fidgety and worrying all of the time, but I never figured that R2 would be the more fragile of the pair. This R2-D2 glass sculpture looks like it will break just by you looking at it.
glass r2d2magnify

He is awesome, but sooooo delicate. Even the Jawas would stay away from this one. There is very little info about it, but this is an impressive bit of geek art constructed from a very fragile material.

For some reason (maybe because I am missing Breaking Bad already) I want to see Walt and Jesse build a blue meth version.

Space Invaders Piggy Bank Looks like an Old-School Arcade Table

I have very strong memory of the first video game I ever played. I don’t remember exactly what year it was, but I remember being very young and going to a pizza place with my dad for lunch and they had a arcade table game of Pac-Man. I can remember seeing several other table style arcade games in restaurants in the 80s, but I never remember seeing one that was Space Invaders.

si 4

In fact, the only Space Invaders I remember from the 80s was on the Atari. At any rate, an awesome retro gaming piggy bank has turned up that is based on Space Invaders. Rather than looking like on the vertical arcade machines were used to from the 80s, and that we’ve seen turned into banks before, this one it’s like one of those console tables.

The bank is made by Takara Tomy and you can actually play Space Invaders on the tiny little LCD screen on top of the bank. The device can hold up to 80 coins and the LCD will show you how much money you’ve saved. Power comes from three AA batteries. You can order one of these for yourself in the UK for £34.95.

Awesome Zombie Jack-o’-Lanterns: The Carving Dead

With October here, Halloween is nearly upon us and it’s high time that you get to carving your geeky jack-o’-lantern. This year we ran across some really cool zombie-themed pumpkins and some of them are downright creepy.

zp 3magnify

One of the things I like about these carvings is that they all appear to be made exclusively from pumpkins. I can only imagine how long it took to carve some of these, particularly the heavily detailed faces of some in the pictures in the gallery.

I think the creepiest is the pumpkin that is turned on its side. It looks like some sort of demented zombie piranha. I also particularly like the one that’s carved to look like a zombie hanging from the end of a noose. The detail work on that carving is incredible. Which one is your favorite?
