Guy Build Space Shuttle on His Roof

What do you do when you just want to get off of this big blue marble we call Earth? Well, you can call NASA and try to hitch a ride to the International Space Station. Or you could build yourself a replica of the Space Shuttle on your roof. One man in China did the latter.

According to Chinese site Xinhuanet, a 60-something year-old farmer in Guangdong province built this space shuttle replica. Naturally he put it on top of his house. I guess the idea is that if he ever takes off, that house will burn up and erase all traces that he was ever here. Good plan.

This replica makes the house stand out for sure. I wonder if the neighbors love it or hate it. I’m sure it does wonders for his property value.

C-3PO Electric Guitar Made from Action Figure Case

Poor 3PO. He was never as popular as R2 and he never will be. At least someone thought enough of the prissy protocol droid to make an electric guitar out of his action figure collectors case.

Everyone knows the Darth Vader collector’s case, but not as many people had the C-3PO version because, well because no one seems to like him. Though his action figure case makes a great body for an electric guitar once you ad a neck and strings. The case still opens up and it even talks. C-3PO says three different phrases. That’s a little disappointing since he’s supposed to be fluent in over six million forms of communication.

This protocol guitar measures 41″ tall X 15″wide and is 5″ thick. It was made by Etsy artist RainyDayInstruments and will cost you $465(USD).

SoulCalibur Nightmare Statuette: Throne of Souls

Professional sculptor Hector A. Arce mashed up Game of Thrones with SoulCalibur in this grisly stattuete. He calls it Throne of Souls, and it shows the fighting game villain sitting on a throne that’s “made up of the souls and swords of his fallen enemies.” Take that Aegon.

I was going to post about this Mario Bros. sculpture but when I got to Minty Fresh I got sidetracked by the other items for sale. Steve Minty is the Fangamer of geeky visual art. Or maybe Fangamer is the Minty Fresh of geeky apparel. I could have picked an item from Minty Fresh’s virtual shelves at random and it would have been worth sharing.  For now though I just had to highlight Hector’s masterpiece. The statuette is 12″ high and 10″ wide and is made of ceramic clay.

Wield your browser and head to Minty Fresh, where you can buy the statuette for $450 (USD). Hector priced it at $300 on his shop, but it’s not yet available there.

Cardboard Iron Man Costume: Magneto-proof

We’ve featured awesome papercraft Iron Man and War Machine figurines before, but Kai-Xiang Xhong’s creation easily eclipses those two. The 20-year-old papercraft enthusiast made a life-size, wearable and wonderfully made Iron Man suit using nothing but cardboard.

After seeing his work through its Facebook community, the famed visual effects and props academy Stan Winston School interviewed Kai-Xiang Xhong and let him share some of his creations on the school’s blog.

These Are Not Game of Thrones LEGO Minifigs: Dragon Sword Fighter Force

If you want to play LEGO Game of Thrones, you wish or you die. Nah, you go to Citizen Brick. The company that’s harvesting the fruits of LEGO’s refusal to create an adult line of toys has a series of minifigs with the awesomely bad title Dragon Sword Fighter Force. The familiarity is strong with this Force.

Heavily inspired by the characters from George R. R. Martin’s  A Song of Ice and Fire novels and HBO’s adaptation of said literature, the minifigs come in four separate packs with three toys each or as one big bundle of 12 toys. That’s not all – if you buy all 12 minifigs at once, you get a bonus minifig that looks like Mr. Martin himself. Though to be fair there are millions of men who look like Sir Typesalot.

Betray your browser and head to Citizen Brick to purchase the Ga– Dragon Sword Fighter Force minifigs. Each three-pack costs $55 (USD). The 12-pack bundle won’t save you any money because it costs $220, but at least it’ll come with Sir Types A.A. Lot.

Awesome Graffiti Turns Boxcar into Nintendo Controller: Nintraindo

In my area, we have lots of train tracks so it’s not uncommon at all to have to sit and wait for a train to cross in front of you. I normally sit there wondering why people go out of their way to tag the boxcars with graffiti. Typically, the art is nothing more than a mess in my eyes.

nes controller train 1 620x462magnify

Conversely, some geeks have captured a boxcar making the rounds that has been painted to look like an old school Nintendo controller. It’s a very good rendition too. Apparently, the person who made the graffiti is TEXER ALB.

I wish more of these ugly boxcars would get a cool coat of paint like this one. If you remember Nintendo controllers from back in the day, you may be wondering why the boxcar has three buttons rather than two like the real controller has. Those buttons are labeled A, L, B for the artist.

My Little Pony Hood Ornament: Extra Horsepower

This isn’t your father’s Oldsmobile. It is Bronie Hayden Sailer’s, who is a serious fan of Princess Luna from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. It takes a serious Pony fan to ride around in this classic Olds decorated with a custom hood ornament that looks like the little Pony.

Friendship is magic and it is also all up in his grille. His car grille that is. Hayden made this cool hood ornament with a 3D printer using a design that he found on Shapeways. After that he covered it with chrome paint and had himself a unique car accessory.

Skyrim Game of Thrones Intro: A Video Game of Ice and Fire

By now you’ve probably heard the theme song and seen the intro to Game of Thrones a thousand times. If you really enjoy it, you’re going to love this version of the intro for Skyrim.

game of skyrim 620x348magnify

Skyrim’s world layout and gameplay don’t have anything to do with George R. R. Martin’s epic books, but there are enough similarities to mash the two together into a neat new opening video called “Thrones.” Because why not? In fact, I would guess that more than half of Skyrim players have already read the books or watched the show. Check the intro out for yourself:

Skyrim fans will recognize recreations of each of the major game areas, portrayed as if they were the separate family-owned lands from Game of Thrones. Brady Wold, the creator of the video, says that it started off as a fun project to kill an afternoon, but soon turned into thousands of hours of work, using After Effects, Cinema 4D, Maya, Photoshop, Premiere, and ZBrush.
