Hexapod Lamp is More Creepy than Cute

If you are looking for a new lamp that is a bit creepy and looks like it will crawl off your desk on its own, check out this unique and awesome lamp.

This unusual six-legged lamp was made by artype design out of the UK and while it doesn’t actually walk, it looks like it could and that’s good enough for us. Can you imagine this thing walking around your home and lighting whatever area you needed illuminated? That’d be cool.

Of course it would trip you with the cord and kill you, but at least you had a nice lamp for your final days on Earth.

Amazing Spider-Man & Peter Parker Cosplay: Wears Whatever a Spider-Man Can

Cosplayer Todd Whalen had his pictures taken as he dressed up as two fictional characters, though you might not recognize one without the other. It’s Peter Parker and his alter ego Spider-Man! But with the help of photographer Meg Super, Todd did manage to convey a Peter Parker vibe. Plus his Spidey costume is great.

Todd also brought his wife Lisa to his photoshoot. She acted as Gwen Stacy. Todd tempted fate even more by hanging out at a bridge. Good thing the Green Goblin wasn’t around.

TRON: Legacy Nintendo 64 Case Mod: Project Virtual Reality

deviantART member Zoki64 specializes in Nintendo 64 case mods. One of his latest creations is this TRON: Legacy-themed mod, complete with glow in the dark paint. I guess you could call it CLU – a console that lights up.

Zoki64 is tight-lipped about his modding process, but at least he took a video of the console and the controller so we can take a better look at it:

It looks way more futuristic than the next-gen consoles. Check out Zoki64′s deviantART page for additional images of the mod.

Alien PEZ Dispenser: In Space, No One Can Hear You Chew

PEZ has always been a bit of a mixed blessing for me. The dispensers were so much better than the candy inside. It’s like the guys who made the candy said “our candy kind of sucks, what can we do to sell it to kids?” The answer? Stick it in a container with a flip-top character head, and you’ll sell billions. And that they did.

And while there are tons of really cool collectible Pez dispensers out there, this Alien PEZ dispenser had to be made by a fan, since the candy company never released one of their own.

It was made a few years back by Peter “Rat D” Davidson, and there’s not much to be said about this thing other than the fact that it’s a) awesome and b) PEZ needs to get on the phone with H.R. Giger and Ridley Scott today and see if they can work out a licensing deal.

The only thing better would be if it actually spit out another little Alien head inside before the candy came out. And acid.

Disney Princesses Dressed as Their Princes

Disney has always dressed up their princesses in the fanciest, girliest of threads – with a few exceptions of course, including the time when Ariel still had her tail and when Merida was being, well, Merida. But think of Belle and Aurora and all the others who are always dressed in their Sunday best. It doesn’t seem very comfortable, does it?

Perhaps with this in mind, artist Haruki Godo created an art series where the Disney princesses put their dresses aside in exchange for their princes’ clothing. It’s amusing, if not wonderful, because it adds a whole new dimension to the princesses, even if they weren’t rendered by Disney.

Jasmine, in particular, looks particularly fetching in Aladdin’s garb.

Kraken Bookends Aren’t Recommended for Seafarers

I know the chances of a giant monster actually living at the bottom of the ocean are pretty slim, but the ocean is a very deep, and why tempt fate? The Kraken is probably one of the worst mythical sea monsters out there – reaching up to crush ships with its disgusting slimy tentacles.

If you have a penchant for mythical beasts and bizarre bookends, these Kraken bookends are just for you. Just be sure you’re not living on a boat.

You can purchase a these off Etsy where an artist by the name of Dellamorteco sculpted the shipwreck by hand, then cast it from resin and painted on a bronze finish. The result is incredibly realistic and lifelike and must’ve taken a very long time to make. You have to check out some of the close-up images to get an idea of how detailed these bookends really are.

Priced at $250(USD), the limited-edition bookends aren’t exactly cheap, but considering it’s an handmade piece of art, the price isn’t too bad. There are more than a few people out there who would love to have a pair these sitting on their pirate-themed libraries.

Plush Frogger Frog on a Log

I’m a sucker for anything related to classic arcade video games. If I only had all of those quarters back (and invested them wisely,) I would be a very rich man. Regardless, I figure I’m pretty rich thanks to all of the fun times I had playing them. Anyway, this plush Frogger frog and log are pretty adorable. They’d look good among anyone’s arcade collectibles.

Artist HibouDesigns made this one of a kind plush for a video game inspired plush show at the former OhNoDoom! gallery in Chicago. She loved it so much that she wanted to keep it for herself, but now she wants someone else to enjoy it.

Project Subway: Fast Food Fashion

Whoever said fashion and couture must be made from expensive and exotic textiles obviously haven’t laid their eyes on Subway’s newest creative marketing strategy: Project Subway. It spoofs the fashion designer reality TV show, Project Runway, and tasked contestants to come up with the best and most creative fashion designs using Subway sandwich wrappers, napkins and other packaging as their materials.

Four designers competed, and designer Danilo Gabrielli emerged victorious. It reportedly took Danilo 14 hours, spread over two weeks, to create the two Subway couture dresses that he submitted for the competition.

The campaign was launched by Subway in an attempt to encourage people to try one of their sandwiches during their September “SUBtember” footlong promotion. The cool part? Project Subway was actually a part of New York Fashion Week.

Power Wheels Star Wars Speeder Bike: Awesomendor!

I don’t know about you, but I have always wanted to have my own Speeder Bike from the Endor forest in Return of the Jedi. I never thought to make one using Power Wheels. Well, Instructables member miketherdaintx has done just that. He has built a 74-Z speeder bike using a Power Wheels toy car.

It may not go very fast, but it looks pretty awesome. Any kid would love this. If you want to build one for yourself, you can check out all of the photos and instructions at the link above.

Too bad an adult would totally destroy this. That wouldn’t keep me from riding it through. It just would be the slowest Speeder chase ever.
