Feed Your Dreams Piggy Bank Grows with Every Penny You Save

Now here’s a piggy bank that literally grows as your savings grow.

It’s annoying how you can’t really tell if your piggy bank is still half full or half empty (oh, those two are the same? You don’t say!). An alternative to most rigid-type coin banks are the Feed Your Dreams Piggy Bank.

This bank isn’t just for kids who are learning the importance of saving, but it’s also great for adults who want to get back into the habit of saving.

The piggy bank is made from high-quality felt imported from Germany. Unlike traditional breakable ceramic piggy banks, Feed Your Dreams visibly shows how full it is with every coin that’s dropped inside it. When the pig is as full as it can get, the coins can be scooped out by opening the zipper at the bottom of the piggy bank’s belly.

The Feed Your Dreams Piggy Bank was designed and made by Baum-kuchen in Los Angeles in collaboration with Christine Lau. It retails for $58(USD) and is available in five colors.

Check out This Redditor’s Meme-rrific Proposal

It was a match made in heaven. So when the time was just right, Redditor SirTechnocracy put together a heart-wrenching proposal that made fellow Redditors and non-Redditors alike swoon.

Last Monday morning, he posted a link of a gallery to AdviceAnimals. He shared that his girlfriend, who goes by the handle LadyTechnocracy (see what he did there?), browses Reddit everyday, so it’s highly likely that she would come across his post at some point.

Meme Proposal

The entire proposal unfolds quite nicely in a series of memes, as you can see in the gallery below.

Meme Proposal2 300x250
Meme Proposal3 300x250
Meme Proposal4 300x250

Meme Proposal9 300x250
Meme Proposal9a 300x250
Meme Proposal9b 300x250
Meme Proposal9c 300x250

The bottom of the meme gallery points to a link, which hosts another gallery of commissioned art that all depict one message: a proposal.

SirTechnocracy explained on Reddit: “It would be far more romantic to her than just taking her to a restaurant. Especially with all the pictures I commissioned for this (getting all those together took months and a couple thousand dollars).”

A few hours later, LadyTechnocracy apparently found the gallery. Hearing her excitement from the other room, SirTechnocracy entered the room, got down on one knee, and proposed to her in person.

Naturally, she upvoted him, and said “Yes.”

Chainsaw Carved Dinosaur: Prehistoric Pine

You don’t need the folks from Jurassic Park to bring dinosaurs back to life. You just need Scott Dow of the Animalistic Chainsaw Carving Studio in Corry, Pennsylvania. He brought this one to life. And not with a petri dish and a beaker either. With a good old-fashioned chainsaw.

Look how awesome it is and it’s not even finished yet. Scott has some mad skills with that chainsaw. Now it just needs armor. And laser guns! And a bionic cyber-eye. And laser pistols holstered at it’s side. At least that’s how I would finish it.

What do you think Scott? Make my idea of a dino-warrior a reality? I’ll pick it up next week.

LEGO Steampunk Batcave: Na na na na na na Choo Choo

Flickr member/playboy/billionaire Jonas aka Legopard made this funny alternate take on Batman and his secret headquarters. As with many LEGO builds, Legopard’s Steampunk Batcave rewards those who give it a closer look. The wooden Tumbler is hilarious.

Then there’s sir Bruce Wayne, with his tophat, cane and cape. Like a pimp.

Life-size R/C Wall-E Replica: Want-1

For YouTube’s Geek Week, Tested interviewed robotics enthusiast Mike McMaster about his remote-controlled and life-size Wall-E replica. McMaster is part of the Wall-E Builder’s Club, a group of hobbyists who started planning on building a replica of the lovable robot even before his movie came out.

Watch Tested’s video to find out the effort and ingenuity that Mike and his friends put in to make the robot:

As Mike said, you should join the Wall-E Builder’s Club if you want to make your own Wall-E. I wonder if they can make a flying EVE.

Nissan Micra Turned into the Batmobile Junior

The guys at Fast Furious and Funny have created something awesome. It’s a Nissan Micra that’s been converted into a Batmobile. Sure, we’ve seen other cars turned into Batman’s ride in the past, but normally you would want to use a more substantial vehicle as your base. As it turns out, this sub-compact was an amazing car to use – assuming Batman wants a slightly comical but still badass car.

Sure, it’s black and has tailfins, but it wouldn’t be a Batmobile without plenty of gadgets and weapons. An RPG comes out of the unfolding roof, machine guns that pop out in front to deal with bad guys ahead of you, and there’s a flamethrower in back.

Check out the complete build in the video below:

It is deadly, but cute. They even put a furry material over the extra bodywork, which is appropriate for a bat. Awesome. Great work guys. We can’t wait to see it in action.

Keep an eye out on FFF’s YouTube channel on August 7th to see the Micra Batmobile take to the roads.

Jupiter Cake is out of this World

This is the planet Jupiter and it’s also an awesome work of art. It looks like one of those Styrofoam models that kids make for their Science class projects, except it’s loads better. That’s because this Jupiter isn’t made from Styro; it’s actually a cake!

Baked by the talented Rhiannon from Cake Crumbs, the cake for the largest planet in our Solar System took eight hours to complete. Rhiannon painstakingly painted the Great Red Spot and the other finer details found in Jupiter’s atmosphere.

Rhiannon explained her love for Jupiter, which pushed her to bake an amazing layered cake of the planet: “In the end I settled on Jupiter predominantly for one reason: its Great Red Spot. The giant anticyclonic storm has always been one of my favourite things and continues to be a subject of great fascination for me. At thrice the size of the Earth it’s bewildering to comprehend the actual magnitude of it.”

The most awesome part of the cake is its insides. The center core is made up of mud cake. It’s surrounded by a layer of almond butter cake, followed by a layer of tinted vanilla Madeira sponge cake. And just below the fondant, the sphere is covered with a crumb coat of vanilla buttercream. Yum!

If you’d like to try and make your own planetary cake, Rhiannon has posted a tutorial, or you can watch the video here:

Fried Chicken Cookies: What’s the Matter Colonel Sanders?

I love those finger-lickin’-good chicken drumsticks, but as a cookie flavor? I don’t think so.

Thankfully these fried chicken cookies whipped up by Bridget over at Bake at 350 taste nothing like the real thing, although they look so much like it!

The chicken drumsticks are probably the easiest part to form and bake. You can also easily recognize them at a glance, compared to, say, chicken breasts or thighs.

Bridget included a guide on cookie cutter templates so you can still bake some fried chicken leg cookies of your own, even if you don’t have the appropriately-shaped cookie cutters.

Fried Chicken Cookies1

Perhaps the biggest thing you might be wondering is.. What makes the chicken leg cookies look so darn crunchy? The secret, my friend, is cornflakes.

You can check out the recipe here.

Reddit Alien Knight Statue Stops Reposters and Trolls Dead in His Path

If you follow Reddit with any regularity, you know their mascot is that little alien dude with the antenna sticking out of his head. Inspired by all of the traffic and support that Reddit has driven their way, the guys over at ThisIsWhyImBroke have made a very special life-size version of the mascot.

reddit alien knight statue

The statue was created by TomSpinaDesigns, and stands over 5-feet-tall. This particular Reddit Alien was modeled after the Knights of the /new, a group of Redditors who help separate the wheat from the chaff over on the popular social bookmarking site. The knight sports a special shield with a Reddit coat of arms, an arrow-shaped downvote sword, and an adjustable antenna.

The statue was listed on ThisIsWhyImBroke for $7500(USD), but has since been sent to the Reddit offices as a gift. Wow. Nice present. Why doesn’t anyone ever send me something like this? I guess if I had over 37 billion pageviews last year, I’d have more fans.

Game of Thrones Balloon Sculpture: A Pin is Coming

Entertainer Phileas Flash made this gloomy balloon sculpture of Ned Stark sitting on the Iron Throne. I think it’s based on this poster from the first season of Game of Thrones. A series so heartwrenching it even makes balloon sculptures a sad sight. We get it George! Nice guys finish last. We get it.

A balloon sculpture of Joffrey would have been more appropriate.
