The Perfect Superman

There have been numerous actors who have played the Man of Steel over the years, and they all seem to share at least a few physical attributes. This composite image mashes up a number of the various Supermen into a single Superman.

perfect superman

This image was created by Redditor morphinapg, and combines images of Christopher Reeve, Dean Cain, Tom Welling, Brandon Routh, and Henry Cavill. I’m surprised he didn’t include George Reeves, especially when I had no idea who Tom Welling is. I guess I’m just too old to have watched Smallville.

It’s a pretty cool image, though I’m not quite sure what’s going on with his forehead. Maybe if they ever do an all CGI Superman flick, this is what he’ll look like.

Morphinapg has also created composite images of James Bond and Bruce Wayne if you’re interested in checking them out.

Hobbit Hole Camping Trailer for Hobbits on the Move

Hobbits don’t need much room, although they do like a little space in their home, which is why they usually build theirs in the sides of hills. However, today’s Hobbit is a busy creature. Always on the go, starring in this movie and that movie. That’s why this Hobbit hole camper is perfect for the modern hobbit on the go.

hobbit camper

Samm1t’s amazing, scratch-built travel trailer would be perfect for today’s Hobbit and they could even live in it while they film their movies. They need a comfy place, since those movies are so very long after all.

The finished camper has ample hobbit sleeping quarters and even a pop-open kitchen on the back. And the AstroTurf roof not only looks great, it provides protection from the elements.

35-Foot-Tall Dalek Made from Straw

Folks in the UK are determined that we all know that it is Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary. They are doing all kinds of crazy things. For instance, the ice cream shop Snugbury’s, does giant straw sculptures every year. This year it is a 35-foot-tall Dalek.

giant straw dalekApparently the royal baby was a contender this year too. I’m so glad we got the Dalek. This straw Dalek not only looks amazing, it also has two fully movable parts, the head and the gun. Plus it has audio.

At least they can burn this Dalek and kill it easily if it gives them any trouble.

Breaking Bad Recap Done Via Etch a Sketch

The Etch a Sketch has been used for many things in the past, but I think this is the first time that we have ever seen a TV show recap drawn out on one. Hey, drawing on the Etch a Sketch sure beats cooking meth.

breaking bad recap
Well, it is not nearly as lucrative of course. Not nearly as adventurous. But it’s an honest toy, that won’t get you into any trouble. I don’t think. Anyway, I present to you this awesome Breaking Bad recap of seasons 1-5 as told by Etch a Sketch drawings and narration. And it goes without saying… SPOILER ALERT…

Todd’s Sketches is a web series that draws everything “from pop culture to news to whatever happens to be on his mind” using his Etch a Sketch.

This is the premiere episode. Enjoy.

Signal Jamming Toy Tank: Frypower

Julian Oliver’s toy tank is a destructive weapon. You can’t even see its ammo, and it hits everything around it. That’s because it has a signal jammer that can block mobile phone signals within a 20 to 50 ft. radius. No wonder Julian calls it No Network.

no network cell signal jamming tank by julian oliver

No Network blocks signals sent via widely used standards, including CDMA, GSM and 3G. Based on the images on Julian’s website, I think No Network is based on Tamiya’s 1:35 scale model of the Mk 5 Chieftain. He didn’t say where he got the signal jammer, but it’s easy to find gadgets like that these days.

The tank is the second in Julian’s series of functional art that represent cyber warfare and cyber weapons. The first piece he made is the Transparency Grenade, which snoops around and sends the data it gathers to a remote server. Julian said he’ll make two more tanks: one that blocks GPS signals and another that blocks Wi-Fi signals. He should make a drone that shoots EMPs. Or sprays water. No Network? How about No Electronics?

Custom Contra Action Figures: I’d Give 30 Lives for These

If you’re one of the thousands of kids who grew up playing Bill and Lance’s excellent adventure aka Contra, join me in ogling these custom action figures by John Harmon aka Mint Condition Customs. They even come with the different ammo types!

John imagined what Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone would look like if they starred in a live action Contra movie back in the 80s. That last qualifier is important; I certainly don’t want to see the Governator with his shirt off these days. The action figures are poseable and have swappable equipment, including ammo belts, flak vests and the machine gun, spread gun and laser ammo attachments.

BROTALITY. It would be awesome if they came in a box that played Contra’s title theme when it’s opened. These action figures are currently being auctioned off on eBay, where as of this writing the bid sits at a criminally low $41 (USD). Although I think part of the reason why it’s that low is because John won’t accept bids from buyers with 0 feedback. In other words, don’t bother signing up on eBay just to buy the action figures because John won’t entertain your bid anyway.

Keep Your Digits on with This Cleaver Ring

I love rings. Getting my fingers cut off by a butcher’s knife, not so much. Surprisingly, you get something sort-of pretty (in its own way), creepy, and fashionable when you combine both together.

Bloody Cleaver

This is the Cleaver Ring by Raul Souza, who hails from Brazil. It’s made from Sterling silver and recycled wood and as its name implies, it’s essentially a butcher’s knife-shaped ring that you can wear around your intact digits.

Bloody Cleaver1

As you can see, it’s normally not “bloody” so you’ll have to add the “blood” yourself. I think some watered-down ketchup or corn syrup and red food coloring will do fine.

The Cleaver Ring is for sale on Raul’s Etsy shop for $190(USD).

Guy Building 3D-Printed Aston Martin DB4 Replica

3D printing is pretty amazing. You can create anything you want as long as you have a big enough printer, and plenty of patience. You can even make a 1961 Series II Aston Martin DB4.

aston martin

That’s what Ivan Sentch from Auckland, New Zealand is doing. He is making his dream car using 3D printing with his second generation Solidoodle printer. The plan is for the full scale replica of the DB4 to have a 250 HP Nissan Skyline drivetrain and fiberglass body with and engine salvaged from a 250 GTO replica. I’d say it is coming along very well judging by the images.

It is estimated the project will cost him about $5,000(USD) and he has been working on this project from almost eight months so far. Not bad, given the fact that an actual DB4 is so rare that it could cost as much as $1.6 million.

Optimus Prime Ring, Marriage in Disguise

Ok, this Optimus Prime ring isn’t officially a wedding ring, but come on, what else would you use it for? It’s the perfect ring for Transformers-loving couples, who want to make the ultimate transformation into marriage.

transformers ring 1

This .925 sterling silver ring is in the likeness of the Autobot leader’s head. It will cost you $91.15(USD) from Etsy seller Princeofdiamonds. That’s not nearly as expensive as a traditional wedding ring, but it’ll certainly make more of an impression than one of those.

Give this ring to your significant other and she will be yours for life. Then settle down and makes lots of little Autobots.

Awesome Dad Builds 737 Cockpit Simulator in His Son’s Bedroom

Some dads get their kids toy cars or iPads to play with, while others go the extra mile and make something that their kids will remember for their entire lifetime. Laurent Aigon is one of the awesome dads who went for the latter.

747 simulator

For the past five years, Laurent has been building this highly-detailed 737 cockpit simulator in his son’s room. He ordered the parts online and enlisted the help of Jean-Paul Dupuy, another enthusiast, to build it with him.

737 simulator 2

You might assume that Laurent is a pilot, but he’s actually a waiter with a passion for flying. It was always his dream to be a pilot, so while that didn’t happen in real life, he can sort of pretend to be one in the amazing simulator that he put together.
