Activist Twitter Dress Streams Political Tweets

You are what you wear. Sometimes, you can send the loudest of messages without saying a single word. You can let your clothes do all the talking instead.

For example, take the Twitter Dress developed by creative agency Deportivo. This isn’t the first dress that displays tweets, although it’s the first one that’s political in nature.

Activist Twitter

The dress was created to help Sweden’s youth get their voices heard at Almedalen Week, which is an annual political summit where thousands of politicians, celebrities, and PR people will converge to attend seminars, discuss issues, and talk politics. Deportivo worked with youth organization Crossing Borders in the creation of the dress, which you can see in action in the Vine animation below:

Crossing Borders recruited 30 “ambassadors” to wear the dress before the summit began. Their goal was to get the organization’s concerns out there by catching the attention of people who can actually do something about it – in this case, the people in attendance at Almedalen.

After the summit, Deportivo’s Stefan Ronge reported: “The Twitter Dress got a pledge from the minister of equality, Maria Arnholm, on addressing the issue of mandatory education on gender equality for Swedish teachers.”

Bullet Blossom Ring: Guns N’ Roses for Your Finger

It’s not often that you see a ring made from a bullet that you could see women wearing. These Bullet Blossom rings are just that. Bang and bloom in one. It’s the softer side of firearm ammunition.

The rings are made from Colt .45 ACP bullet casings that are cut and curled into a beautiful and unique rosette. They’re then soldered to an 18-gauge brass backplate. To top it all off, a Swarovski crystal in the color of your choice is inserted in place of the primer, trading its bang for some bling.

It’s what you get the gun-toting gal who has everything. Plus, if a woman is wearing a bullet on her finger that you gave her, I’m pretty sure she will be yours forever.

The Bullet Blossom ring is available from Gun Goddess, and sells for $45(USD), and is also available in nickel.

Doppelganger is a Jacket, Long Coat, and Sleeping Bag In One

It’s a jacket, it’s coat, no wait… it’s a sleeping bag and all of the above!

The Doppelganger Outdoors Wearable Sleeping Bag might seem like a confusing article of clothing at first, but it’s actually extremely useful once you’re familiar with all the possible ways you can wear it.

Doppelganger Sleeping Bag

First of all, it’s a jacket. That’s the purple part of the Doppelganger shown above. It offers basic protection against the elements, so if you’re traveling or going on a trio outdoors, then this is one of the essentials that you should pack along with you. If it’s getting too chilly or rainy, then unzip to release the gray portion to extend the Doppelganger into a long coat.

And when you’re finally ready to turn in for the night, just unzip a couple more times to release the blue-colored extensions of the Doppelganger to turn it into a sleeping bag.

The Doppelganger jacket is a bit pricey though, but just think of it as three things in one and maybe you can justify its price. It sells for $138(USD) from the Japan Trend Shop.

Spider-Man Spidey Sense T-Shirt: My Wallet is Tingling!

Spider-Man’s Spider Sense alerts him to danger and allows his body to react on its own to avoid attacks. Thinkgeek’s Tingling Electronic Spidey Sense T-shirt on the other hand only alerts you when someone – or something – is behind you. But at least you don’t have to get bit by – or look for – a radioactive spider.

Actually there’s nothing special about the T-shirt itself. It comes with a clip-on proximity sensor that also has motors to make it vibrate. When someone approaches at least 5ft. behind you, the device will emit a pulse, emulating Spider-Man’s power. The pulses become more frequent the closer someone is to you. Wait… is this a naughty toy?

I wonder if it will still work if you wear it under a hoodie.

thinkgeek spider man spider sense t shirt 3You can pre-order the t-shirt from ThinkGeek for $40 (USD). It won’t be released until October, but I have a feeling it’ll be sold out way before then. I bet tinkerers will be selling replicas of the gadget online before we know it.

Exercise Your Right to Bear Arms, Literally.

Want to show off your right to bear arms? Then you need this shirt.

I don’t need to tell you why. All you have to do is take one look at it before you scramble to get that little plastic card from your wallet. Yeah, this shirt is that awesome.

In case you didn’t get it, this shirt gives you literal bear arms. It doesn’t matter whether you’re left-leaning, right-leaning or undecided. Whether you agree or disagree, personal politics doesn’t really have to come into play here. All you have to have is a sense of humor and you’ll be able to rock this shirt.

The Right to Bear Arms shirt was designed by Flurgen Ventures. It’s currently up for funding on Kickstarter, where a minimum pledge of $25(USD) will get you one of your own without the trouble of having to catch your own bear.

Clap-Off Bra Deserves a Standing Ovation

Here’s an invention that would go well with the Clapper: a bra that unclasps when you clap. Now that’s a reason to turn the lights down low. You’d think this gadget would be a hit on the Internet, but its Kickstarter was actually a massive flop. I am disappoint. Or not.

clap off bra by randy sarafan

Instructables member Randy Sarafan posted instructions to make the silly undergarment. But he didn’t come up with the concept; he only tried to replicate a novelty item that’s apparently already being sold in Syrian markets. Here’s a NSFW demo of the bra:

The fact that the bra already exists may be one of the reasons why Randy’s Kickstarter didn’t succeed. We need someone to import the thing; not invent it. Then again I think his cheesy pitch video is mostly to blame. As of now it seems like it’s easier to build the bra than negotiate with the Syrian lingerie experts, so head to Instructables for Randy’s walkthrough.

Stand Tall with Star Wars Wedges and Superhero Pumps

These wedges are made for walking, but you can also just display them for good measure because they look more like collectible works of art than actual footwear.

These Star Wars wedges, for example, feature the most noted characters from the hit franchise, from Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker to Darth Vader and several of his Stormtroopers.

Star Wars Wedges

If you’re not much of a Star Wars fan, then maybe superhero-themed pumps and heels featuring the likes of Superman, Captain America, Dredd or Wonder Woman is more up your alley.

wonder woman heels

They’ve even got some Robocop high heels. Now I’d buy that for a dollar!

Dredd Heels

These fancy footwear are made-to-order by Etsy decoupage artist DeckoFab. They take custom orders, too, so if you’re a huge fan (or troll), then you can put in an order for an all-Jar Jar pair of wedges for good measure.

The wedges cost $115(USD), while the high heels are priced at $85. You can check them out at DeckoFab’s Etsy store.

Space Invaders Silver Pendants Drop Down and Invade Your Neckline

Let’s face it. No matter how many times you fire your laser cannon, you’re never getting rid of all of those Space Invaders. Heck, they’ve been around for  35 years, so don’t count on them going anywhere any time soon. So you know how they say “keep your friends close, and your enemies closer?” What better way to do that than by wearing a Space Invader around your neck?

space invaders pendants 1

These Space Invaders-inspired pendants come from South Africa’s Duke & Dutch Jewellery, and are cast from sterling silver. Each one is inlaid with colorful enamel to bring out the details of said pixelated alien – and so you can color-coordinate your aliens with your outfit.

They sell for $35(USD) each over on Etsy, and you can choose from several different lengths for the accompanying silver chain – so your invader can drop down as much or as little as you’d like it to. They also make a Space Invader ring if you’re into the whole matchy-matchy thing.

Vinylize Turns Old Records into Groovy Glasses

People love to recycle old vinyl records into new things. Vinylize makes hipster eyewear out of old records. So how do they make glasses from old records?

vinylize record eyeglasses

Well, before the records are cut, they are bonded with cellulose acetate to frame them and give them strength. It makes for a really unique look, that’s for sure. Very hipster. Definitely groovy. Here’s a short video that shows Vinylize’s production process:

Vinylize is based in Budapest, Hungary, and they have been making vinyl glasses for over a decade, so they do know what they are doing. The sunglasses can be purchased online from their website, where each pair retails for about €330 (~$440 USD). If you are a hipster looking for something new for your wardrobe, here it is.

Put Your Kids to Work as Junior Massage Therapists with These Playmat T-Shirts

Playtime doesn’t have to be so tiring for parents. I mean, you already spend most of your time at home picking up after the kids, feeding them, doing their laundry, and helping them with schoolwork. So it’s only fair that playtime is easy on you, the parent, while still being fun and hopefully education for your child.

I’m not so sure on the educational part, but the Street and Railroad Playmat Shirt will definitely let you take a breather for the entire duration of it.

playmat shirt 1

The shirts are basic tees with colorful railroads printed on the back. So all you have to do is lie down, face-flat, on the ground or on your bed, and let the shirt do all the playing. Just hand your kids some toy cars, LEGO bricks, and toy soldiers, and let them have some fun on your back – and give you a back massage – while you read a book or take a quick snooze.

The Car and Railroad Playmat Shirts retail for $22(USD) each and are available from Etsy seller bkykid.
