Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver Earrings Will Open Your Ears

The sonic screwdriver is the Doctor’s favorite tool and now you can wear one on each ear. They look pretty cool and stylish. The one drawback is that if you are going to be opening doors with these, you are going to have to put your ear to the lock and pray.

These cute earrings come from Etsy seller Murals4U and they are perfect for the female Doctor Who fan. They are handmade from durable plastic and are light weight.

With sonic screwdrivers dangling from your ears, your ears are bound to be open all of the time, but your neck will hurt if you have to point them at various things the way the Doctor does. These are just $7.99(USD). Hopefully they won’t zap you crazy all day long.

Seiko Star Wars Watches: Force Time!

Seiko Japan recently took wraps off a whole series of new watches based on the Star Wars saga, and there are some really awesome timepieces in the collection. While most of the series has traditional analog movements, the R2-D2 watch is all digital, and features a very cool hi-res display.

The limited-edition Seiko Brightz R2-D2 watch is the geekiest of the collection, featuring a 300dpi black and white screen which can display scenes from the Star Wars films. But if you’re in the market for a more timeless design, you might want to check out one of the other watch designs, which include Darth Vader, Darth Maul and Stormtrooper models with a dramatic black band, as well as a gold-accented C-3PO and green-tinged Yoda watch. The Vader model is even embellished with tiny diamonds.

All of these beautiful watches are limited-editions ranging from 500 to 1500 pieces, and are not for those with limited budgets. Prices for the series range from 136,500 to 141,750 (~$1739 to $1805 USD), though you can find them for a little less over on Amazon Japan(JP). I found one of the R2-D2 watches going for $1450 over on eBay too.

Arcade Coin Slot Belt Buckle: Insert Coin to Play

While it’s not quite as interactive as the Etch-a-Sketch belt buckle, this arcade coin slot belt buckle is even better, in my humble opinion. This belt buckle was designed by Seattle’s if Industries, and not only does it feature a genuine recycled arcade coin slot, it actually lights up.

I don’t know if there’s any room inside of it for storing quarters, but that’d be cool if it did. Of course, I’m not sure what sort of message your significant other would be sending if they then pushed in the button to reject the coin. And where would it come out, your butt? Ok. That was childish of me.

push to reject

Unfortunately, it’s currently sold out, but if Industries says they’ll make these to order if you contact them directly over on Etsy. If your pants are falling down right now, you’ll just have to settle for the NES console belt buckle instead.

Dalek Purse Exterminates All Other Handbags

Doctor Who seems to be in the midst of a major renaissance of late. I can’t go a day lately without coming across some sort of awesome Doctor Who inspired craft, like this Dalek purse.

dalek purse 1

This strikingly accurate and detailed Dalek handbag was made by Krukru Studio (who also happens to make a TARDIS bag.) The handmade felt bag measures about 13.8″ tall, 9.4″ wide at the bottom, and 4.7″ wide at the top. While its odd shape and size isn’t exactly the most practical for carrying lots of stuff around, it should work pretty well for toting around  your wallet, a couple of lipsticks, and your Sonic Screwdriver.

So if you’re read to purge the universe of all your other purses, grab the Dalek purse now over on Etsy for $190(USD).

Giant Fist Koozie is Every Beer Drinker’s Dream Koozie

You gotta love those koozies that keep your beer (or whatever your beverage of choice is) insulated while you eat, watch TV, or do whatever it is you do while you gulp down your drink. If you’re feeling especially macho, then you need a koozie that reflects just that. And there’s only one koozie that’ll manage to do just that for you: the Giant Fist Koozie.

It sort of reminds me of the Sandman’s massive fists which he formed out of sand, just as he was getting ready to land a huge punch of Spiderman. And if it were green, there’s only one character that this giant fist could belong to, and that’s The Hulk.

Aside from insulating your cans, most bottles and plastic cups (including the iconic red booze cups) also fit fine into the Giant First Koozie. It’s normally available for $16.49(USD) from Perpetual Kid, although it’s out of stock right now. But check back once in a while because it might be back in stock soon.

Brown Paperbag Purse Costs a Whole Lot of Green Paper

Women (and the occasional guy) are known for splurging on things that don’t really make sense sometimes. A dress that costs five hundred dollars. A pair of shoes that retails for several thousand. But I think even the most frivolous of women would draw the line at paperbag purses priced at $290.

Brown Paperbag PurseNo, that wasn’t a typo. The paper bag you see above is really being sold for close to $300 (USD).

It’s part of Jil Sander’s fall/winter collection, and is called the Varsari bag. That’s a pretty fancy name for a purse that looks like a brown paper bag, isn’t it?

I’m not sure what theme Jil was working with for her line, but what was she thinking? Carrying around a brown paper bag while you’re dressed to the nines doesn’t seem like you’re making a fashion statement; it just looks tacky. Now it would totally fit in with your outfit if you’re dressed like a hobo, but really, I doubt you’d go through all that trouble just for this little “purse.”

But if you want it, here’s a tip: just buy a pack of paper bags, line them with plastic or something, and you’re good to go. All for less than a dollar. And if you’re a really big spender, you can buy a reusable paper bag for $19, and put the other $272 back in your other purse.

P.S. I stand corrected. Apparently, the brown paper bag purses sold out almost immediately when it went on sale. A black leather version of the Varsari also went on sale for twice the price and were snatched up immediately as well. They might be calling it a “fashion statement” but I just don’t see it. Do you?

Origami Scarves Let You Fold Your Own Neckwear for the Day

Origami, the Japanese art of paper folding, has been around for centuries. I’ve always found it pretty cool, considering how you can turn a sheet of paper into absolutely anything you want to with a few folds and tucks here and there. So how awesome is it that Japanese retailer Monomatopee has managed to incorporate this technique into clothing? Specifically, into scarfs?

Origami ScarfThe scarf is made from a special, flat fabric that feels like paper, so it folds like paper. But it’s wearable, ultra-chic, and super stylish–if you have the personality to pull it off, that is. It’s pretty awesome because it’s basically one of those convertible articles of clothing that’ll let you wear it in a hundred different ways, depending on your creativity.

The scarves are available online from Monomatopee for ¥11,500 (~$150 USD).

Mega Man Hoodie Has an Ace Up Its Sleeve

…and by ace I mean a Mega Buster. This rockin’ Rockman (aka Mega Man) hoodie is a collaboration between Capcom and Japanese apparel company Punk Drunkers. It has lots of references to the blue bomber, but its main trick is its left sleeve, which when rolled up reveals a textile replica of Mega Man’s staple weapon.

The hood obviously resembles Mega Man’s helmet, the pockets are a nod to the Energy Tank and there’s a stitching of pixelated Mega Man at the back.

You can pre-order the hoodie from Punk Drunkers for ¥14,700 (approx. $190 (USD)); they’ll start shipping this October. I’m not sure if they’ll accept international orders, but if not there are still ways around that.

Casio Smartwatches: They’ll G-Shock Your Bluetooth

Smartwatches seem to be hot new thing that watchmakers are releasing these days. What I like about Casio’s offering is that it doesn’t look like most smartwatches, instead looking like most of Casio’s G-Shocks.

These new smartwatches are part of Casio’s expansive G-Shock line. The GB-6900AA and GB-5600AA are able to connect to iPhones via Bluetooth. You’ll be able to receive emails alerts as well as notifications on it. There’s even an audio alert to help you find your phone in case you lose it. This can be activated by pressing a single button.

An app will be released alongside the watches, and Casio hasn’t yet announced the US pricing or availability, but they will be released in Japan in October and November for ¥18,000 (~$230 USD).

Incase Pathway Bags: Sometimes Being Neutral is a Good Thing

I’ve tried shoulder bags before, but I have to say that I prefer backpacks. They make lugging around a laptop, books, iPad and pencil cases a lot easier in my opinion. However, if you are looking for something more stylish, and that will work in any office, check out Incase’s Pathway bags. They look pretty sleek.

incase pathway shoulder bag collectionIncase’s Pathway collection includes folios, totes, sleeves, and bags. They’ve got a pretty timeless look, with a leather strap and cotton twill body. This combination of fabrics is unisex, and the colors are neutral, so they’ll go with whatever you’re wearing this fall.
