Stories are more than just mere words on paper. They have the power to carry you off to faraway lands while making you care for characters as if they were your friends in real life. Stories can also serve as your temporary escape from the real world whenever you need to take a break from real life.

Given the power of said books, I think it’s just appropriate to pay homage to them at least once in a while. That’s exactly what Tori Iannario did by coming up with this series of Wrap Up With A Good Book scarves.

They’re basically lightweight scarves with text from some of the most renowned works in the literary world screenprinted on them, like Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion, Jane Eyre, and Tale of Two Cities.

They’re a great gift for the librarian or English lit major in your life – though they might be a little difficult to read when they’re wearing one. The story scarves are available on Tori’s storiarts Etsy shop for $39.99(USD) each.

So the latest season of Doctor Who kicked off last week with a Dalek episode. And if you saw it, you already know that this episode breaths new life into the Daleks and takes them from being a silly overused villain to making them multi-dimensional bad guys. Well, I can’t think of a better time to buy oneself a Dalek hat.

All of Luke’s friends know that if you want to scare the heck out of him, you just need to wear a Wampa hat. Hey, it was a traumatic experience. Being hung upside-down on the ceiling of an ice cave is bound to leave it’s scars. Sometimes they will just sneak up on him and give him a good scare. Sometimes they lose a limb to a lightsaber of course.

Seriously, this Wampa hat is awesomely nerdy. I want to wear it in the winter time and hide in the snow, scaring nerds as I growl. This neat hat is one-size fits most and it is made of 100% polyester and faux fur, just like an actual Wampa.

It’s only $19.95(USD) from Neatoshop. It is a great geeky way to keep your head warm even if it does make Luke nervous.

Not that hearing aids are unsightly, but some people who use them actually find how they look pretty annoying. But it’s better to have them than not be able to hear what people are saying around you, right?

But if you’re looking for a sleeker, sexier alternative, then Flutter might just be the thing for you. It’s a fusion of fashion and robotics, as the garment was designed to allow those who have trouble hearing to “feel” the sounds around them.

There’s actually a complicated framework of wires and microphones under the dress that detect where the emitted sounds are coming from.

The ‘leaflets’, which are the leafy things on the dress, then flutter to give the wearer a sense of where the sound is coming from. So while it might not be a substitute for hearing aids, it’s a pretty enough start.

It’s only for the ladies, though, but maybe designer Halley Profita might have to come up with something for the gents the next time around.

This story should serve as a warning to all the fun-loving pranksters out there. While I have nothing against pranks, I do think it’s not a very wise thing to take things too far.

The image above is actually of a soldier in a Ghillie suit. While some think that the suits make people look like Bigfoot, I certainly don’t, but maybe that opinion might change when it’s dark out.

Anyway, a Montana jokester named Randy Lee Tenley donned a Ghillie suit recently so he can scare up some people by pretending to be Bigfoot. He allegedly darted out into the middle of the road (while roaring, I bet) – but his prank went horribly wrong when two cars hit him in the darkness of the night.

Montana Highway Patrol Lt. Col. Butch Huseby told the Los Angeles Times: “What we know so far is that we had a couple of guys out, allegedly trying to prompt a sighting of Bigfoot. This is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen. Really.”

The incident is still under investigation though. And while our sympathies go out to Tenley’s family, let’s hope future pranksters will take this as a warning sign and not take the jokes too far.
