Rovio‘s Chief Executive Officer, Mikael Hed, told the Wall Street Journal that the company is planning to release a series of short, animated episodes based on the popular Angry Birds video game characters this spring. The news isn’t surprising. If you can still recall, we reported last year that an Angry Birds cartoon series is underway, and a possible fall release is expected. Death Star Kickstarter Campaign Seeks $850 Quintillion To Fully Fund

We’re not sure what is the Internet’s obsession with getting a Death Star built as they petitioned for the U.S. government to build it, only to be met with rejection weeks later. You would think that would be the end of the story and Star Wars nerds around the world would return to their forums to choice to complain about The Phantom Menace for the millionth time. But it turns out it didn’t end there as a Kickstarter project has been started to help build a Death Star.

The Kickstarter Open Source Death Star campaign has a $30 million dollar funding goal, which will be used to help create “more detailed plans” than the current design team has come up with as well as purchasing “enough chicken wire to protect reactor exhaust ports.” The project also mentions a Stretch Goal of $850 quintillion dollars would be needed in order to use the funded plans to actually build a full-scale Death Star.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Wants To Be First Iranian In Space

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Wants To Be First Iranian In SpaceI am very sure that Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s intention to be the first person to be sent into space via their fledgling space programme will be hailed with anticipation by different people all around, regardless on which side of the political divide that they are on. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was quoted by state media as saying, “I’m ready to be the first Iranian to be sacrificed by the scientists of my country and go into space.”

Somehow, I do wonder whether other countries who are not on Iran’s friend list on Facebook might secretly keep their fingers crossed that the space trip would fail with him on board, considering the rather inflammatory remarks that he had made in the past, especially those concerning wiping off Israel from the face of the earth, not to mention the kind of nuclear rhetoric that he had bandied in recent memory. Well, we do know that they have managed to send a monkey into space and back successfully recently, so why not proceed with a second monkey instead before your country’s bigwig? Cloning technology has not reached science fiction levels just yet.
