DeLorean Hovercraft Caught In The Wild In San Francisco

We’ve covered Back To The Future quite a bit here at Ubergizmo since we know, just like us, you’re all probably big fans of the films, TV shows and delicious cereal. We’ve seen hoverboards, sneakers and a LEGO set inspired by Back to the Future. But have you ever seen a DeLorean hovercraft? You have?! Well, let’s make believe you didn’t so the rest of the class could enjoy this video.

A few days ago, YouTube user Terry Barentsen happened to be in the right place at the right time as a hovercraft made to look like a DeLorean was seen driving around. Since it didn’t reach 88 miles-per-hour, it wasn’t able to travel through time, but we’re sure Doc Brown would still be proud of this creation, even though this thing doesn’t move quite as well as the real DeLorean, or even the hoverboard.

We’re not sure what exactly is going on with California as a RC Superman was spotted there just a few weeks ago. We’re just happy there are people around to record these bizarre instances so they can spread through the Internet life wildfire.

Verizon Discovers Developer Outsourcing Work To China So He Could Browse The Internet

We know there are many of you out there who would absolutely love to not be working right now and would much rather be out on an adventure, playing video games, or browsing the Internet from the comfort of your own home. But would you think to pay someone else to do your job at a fraction of what you get paid so you could goof off? That’s exactly what happened in this story Verizon Wireless helped uncover.

“Bob” was a developer at an infrastructure company who outsourced his work to Chinese workers, paying them “about fifty grand annually” while he collected a “several hundred thousand dollars a year” salary. Instead of doing his work, “Bob” was reportedly browsing Reddit, Facebook, LinkedIn and watching a number of cat-related videos.

“Bob” was caught accidentally by Verizon’s security team after they received a request to help understand some abnormal activity from the company “Bob” worked for. It turns out the activity was from Shenyang, China where Bob’s workers were using his credentials to access the network almost every day. It also didn’t help “Bob” that PDF invoices were found on his computer made out to the Chinese consulting firm in Shenyang. Either way, if you know someone in your office to be the “lazy one,” consider yourself lucky as at least they’re not as lazy as “Bob.”

Jack Ma Of Alibaba To Step Down

jackma Jack Ma Of Alibaba To Step DownAlibaba Group founder Jack Ma made a rather shocking announcement on Tuesday concerning his plans to relinquish his position as CEO, as he had the idea of retirement playing about his mind for a while already. In fact, in June last year, Ma informed journalist Bruce Einhorn and his colleague Frederik Balfour, “Some day Jack Ma is going to retire—maybe not very long [from now]. Life is so short. I don’t want to be 80 years old and still running this company.”

Ma is still very young by CEO standards, considering how he has just turned 48 last year, but in his announcement on the Alizila website, Ma mentioned, “Stepping down as CEO is a difficult decision, for this could be confounding especially for someone of my age who should be at the height of his career. At 48 I am no longer ‘young’ for the Internet business.”

Ma will remain as executive chairman after stepping down, and in his own words, will “focus his attention on setting strategic direction, helping to develop managerial talent within the company’s ranks, and strengthening Alibaba’s social-responsibility efforts.”

So the circle of life continues…

Facebook LIVE at 10am PT, 1/15Good morning folks! The Ubergizmo team are well on our way to Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park to cover the Facebook event live from there, and of course, you will be able to follow us over at our live blog. Just what kind of new stuff will Facebook have up their sleeves? There were whispers of a Facebook phone in the past (which does not seem to be too viable actually), alongside the possibility of Facebook Messenger for iPad, and certainly the stock price of Facebook will ultimately be affected by today’s press event.

We do think that Facebook will in all probability, launch a new service instead of a hardware device, but with that in mind, our hearts too, hold out for somethng unexpected. Just what do you think that Facebook has up its sleeves, and the explanation behind its stock value?

LG EA9800 Curved  OLED TV

lg curved hdtv 640x359 Best of CES 2013 @ Ubergizmo

The LG EA9800 is an absolute thing of beauty: with its elegant and subtle curvature, this 55″ OLED TV is supposed to remove subtle image distortions that are due to the fact that pixels at the screen’s center are closer to the eyes than the ones on the edges. To be honest, we’ve never complained about that particular issue on current TVs, but what we love without reserve about the LG EA9800 OLED TV is the beauty of its design, the amazing image quality and the stunning translucent TV stand. This time, LG takes the lead in TV design. (more…)
