HP, a company known for their computers and printing solutions, have attempted to enter the mobile space in the past through smartphones and tablets, although safe to say that their efforts did not pay off. In a bid to bolster the company’s financial position, HP’s CEO, Meg Whitman, has been reported to be looking for buyers of some of its mobile-related patents. As it stands these negotiations are reportedly private which is why HP is unable to comment or confirm the reports. According to anonymous sources, the patents in question are related to WebOS which HP had bought from Palm several years ago.

It’s interesting given that WebOS was sold to LG not too long ago, but perhaps there are still some patents left that LG did not acquire. In an effort to make the patents more attractive to potential buyers, HP has also reportedly removed certain restrictive conditions that will hopefully amp up its appeal. We’re not sure if this means that HP plans to exit the mobile market since we’re guessing that they will require these patents, or at least some of it, to proceed, but according to a HP spokesman, “We don’t comment on rumor and speculation.”

We are talking about 1,5000 square feet of scariness, and it is controlled by the ELAN g! mobile app on several iPads. The system makes it a snap to quickly monitor and adjust 16 MP3 players, over 40 speakers, a half-dozen subwoofers, more than 1,000 LED lights (where some of them are colored), and 16 surveillance cameras. When it comes to fashion, you know for sure that strides in this department cannot be made if no one is bold enough to experiment with new ideas. This time around, here is something that even the master of magnetism, Magneto himself, would approve. As part of Dutch Design Week, artist Jólan Van der Wiel alongside designer Iris Van Herpen have worked on a couple of dresses which were specially designed more by magnetism rather than the product of their own hands.

Why do we say this? Well, Van der Wiel has chalked up quite a history when it comes to featuring magnetism in his work. To make sure that his creations will be forged in a unique manner, he came up with something he dubbed “the gravity tool,” which would seem like an old torture device. In a nutshell, it is a housing for a bunch of magnets, and whenever a composite of iron filings and molten plastic is loaded into the gravity tool, Van der Wiel will be able to manipulate the material as it hardens. Hence, you get something like the dress that you see above. Will opposites be able to attract if your date decides to wear something as outrageous as this?

A 33-year old man who goes by the name of Tony Sheldon, can be said to be a whole lot more hardcore compared to the rest of the “Beliebers” out there. Basically, he was willing to spend nearly $100,000 over the course of the past five years on plastic surgery alone in order to look more and more like his idol, Justin Bieber himself. What you see above is Sheldon after all the surgeries performed on him in order to make him look as though he was the 19-year old Canadian superstar.

Just what did close to $100,000 get him so far? He has had his fair share of Botox injections over the years in addition to hair transplants, not to mention a rather expensive “smile surgery” that was intended to make his smile resemble Bieber’s, or so that is what multiple reports have claimed. Sheldon shared, “It’s Justin’s smile that gives him his youthful look. So I had my upper lip lifted [and] my bottom lip plumped out.” How many ways do you think that you will be able to spend $100,000?

Something tells me that Sheldon is still single, and unless he has a white Ferrari in his garage, chances are he will not get that many groupies as his idol.

Netflix certainly seems to be growing from strength to strength, as the company’s results for the third quarter have been announced (PDF Link), and in one of the more notable numbers that investors would like to look at would be the total number of US subscribers – which will include trial accounts, by the way. The magical number that has made many investors happy this time around would be 29.93 million, which happens to outstrip HBO’s last count of 28.7 million. This is definitely an upward trend, especially when you take into consideration how last year at the same time, Netflix reported 25.1 million US customers, which included trial subscribers.

Having already overtaken HBO’s US customer base in April this year, it has also experienced growth internationally, touching 9.19 million subscribers with the hope of adding another three million customers more for the next quarter. There is the new original series Orange is the New Black which has been touted to be a hit, although viewing statistics remain a secret with Netflix, but they have said that the show will end the year “as our most watched original series ever.” How far do you think a company like Netflix will eventually grow to? The push in modern day technology has certainly helped it become a more viable entertainment choice.
