Retail Therapy: Inside the Apple Store

An Apple employee is never supposed to point when giving directions in their store. For example, when asked where the iPhone cases are sold, a specialist should either gesture with an open hand or, preferably, walk the customer to the proper location.

Apple IDs Required To Schedule Genius Bar Appointments Online

Apple IDs Required To Schedule Genius Bar Appointments OnlineMaking appointments and purchases online is no longer a novelty, but rather, it has proven to be the norm for many of us. The same applies too to those who want to schedule Genius Bar appointments using Apple’s online support webpage, but a tiny change in the policy has required users to now sign in using their valid Apple ID before they are able to go ahead and schedule a Genius Bar appointment.

What you see above is pretty much the same screen that will greet your eyes whenever you intend to schedule a Genius Bar appointment using Apple’s online reservations system. The “Open Sesame!” procedure here would require you to key in your valid Apple ID before any progress is made. While this new rule was reported by TechCrunch yesterday, it remains to be seen just when this particular policy change first occurred. Apple apparently changed the appointment policy so that they are able to gain higher levels of control over support appointments, payments included. Not only that, with customer information being connected to an Apple ID, various relevant information such as outstanding support tickets can be accessed by the Genius Bar staff before a customer arrives, helping streamline the process for everyone.

Chinese Apple Store Genius Bar Appointment Scalping Allegedly Happens

Chinese Apple Store Genius Bar Appointment Scalping Allegedly HappensDo you like dropping by to have a chat with the folks over at the Apple Store, especially the ones by the Genius Bar? Well, we have heard our fair share about the Genius Bar in the past, including the possibility of having double rows at the Genius Bar in Apple Stores to cater for a growing customer base which should result in a better customer and employee experience. Here we are with word from within China itself, that there were instances of profiteers who would completely book the Shangai Apple store’s Genius Bar reservations, followed by selling appointment slots online.

These alleged scalpers happen to place a 10 yuan ($1.60) price tag on each appointment, where upon payment, you as the purchasers would be provided with login information so that you can modify the appointment afterwards according to your needs. It is said that majority of the appointments have already been booked solid each time the reservation system opens at 4AM local time, although we are unable to verify this. How widespread is this remains to be seen, and assuming it does happen daily, who are the people behind it? Is it a syndicate, or just a bunch of folks who are out to make a quick buck?

Double-row Genius Bar to be in future Apple Stores?

So the Genius Bar idea has been implemented for the longest time already in Apple Stores, at least it feels like that. How else is the world’s most valuable company supposed to improve on itself? Well, it looks like the rumors are true and word has it that a New Jersey Apple Store will be the first in the entire chain that will construct a double-row Genius Bar as Apple works to combat overcrowding in their stores.

The Garden State Plaza Apple Store in New Jersey first opened its doors to the public in 2006, and they will be working on the new arrangement when the store is moved to a larger space which is said to nearly increase the store’s eventual square footage by three times. A couple of Genius Bars aligned parallel to the rear wall is said to enable “360-degree access” to Apple staff. How else do you think that Apple is able to improve on their physical stores? Will overcrowding be an issue in the future, and will tripling it down the road help alleviate future issues as well?

NPD: Apple Customers Love The Genius Bar, Mostly Because Service Is Free

If you own an Apple product, chances are you’ve paid a visit to the Genius Bar, the magical place in the back of an Apple store where your broken iThings get fixed. It’s a beautiful system, at least that’s what 90 percent of Apple owners think.

According to a study by NPD Group, nine of every ten Apple owners are somewhat or much more likely to make another Apple purchase following their tech support experience.

31 percent of those polled said they now have a better perception of Apple after getting a little help with a faulty or busted gadget at the Genius Bar.

NPD claims that around 40 percent of Apple owners took their product in to the Genius Bar, 90 percent of whom are extremely or very satisfied with their service. When polling all tech service interactions, 78 percent of consumers said they were satisfied, putting Apple ahead of the curve in the service arena.

    But why?

Well, according to the study, 88 percent of happy Apple consumers said their Genius Bar service was free, as opposed to 78 percent of all consumers. And for what Apple fans pay, free service only makes sense.

Best Buy founder wants slashed prices, Apple-style customer service in $10 billion rescue plan

Best Buy founder wants slashed prices, Applestyle customer service in $10 billion rescue plan

Best Buy founder Richard Schulze is proposing a plan to turn around the ailing electronics store as part of a $10 billion buyout. He’s proposing the retailer slashes prices to compete with online rivals like Amazon, while offering Apple Store-levels of customer service. He’s concerned that the current closure and size-reduction policy will spell the end of the business, which is rumored to announce another round of closures shortly. It’s yet to be seen if his plan, which would mean running Best Buy at a loss for several years, would be accepted by the company’s management, who are meeting to discuss the proposals at the end of the month.
