Hasta La Gadget!

What do you do with all of those boxes left over from your countless Amazon orders and other cardboard lying around your house? Don’t just throw them into the recycling bin. Do like this guy did, and build a giant badass robot. Like this one. Yep, this is a 10-foot-tall Optimus Prime made out of recycled cardboard.

Well, cardboard, glue and masking tape. This ‘Cardboard Prime’ was built by Pwarner184, who obviously knows how to work cardboard into geek magic. The shaping of the cardboard is great, and I love how he did the details with masking tape. This is truly papercraft on an epic scale.

If any cardboard Decepticons come anywhere near this house, there will be cardboard flying everywhere as Optimus Prime defends his turf. The only things this robot fears are rain, mildew and perhaps an industrial shredder.

You gotta love those koozies that keep your beer (or whatever your beverage of choice is) insulated while you eat, watch TV, or do whatever it is you do while you gulp down your drink. If you’re feeling especially macho, then you need a koozie that reflects just that. And there’s only one koozie that’ll manage to do just that for you: the Giant Fist Koozie.

It sort of reminds me of the Sandman’s massive fists which he formed out of sand, just as he was getting ready to land a huge punch of Spiderman. And if it were green, there’s only one character that this giant fist could belong to, and that’s The Hulk.

Aside from insulating your cans, most bottles and plastic cups (including the iconic red booze cups) also fit fine into the Giant First Koozie. Just look at the size of that RC Jeep. Both the jeep and its controller are scaled to match the classic Tamiya Wild Willy toy R/C car. If they built a few more and put some medical tents up, we would be well on our way to having an R/C M.A.S.H unit. Cue the theme song.


This huge R/C toy was built at The Bug Box, a mechanical shop and studio in Weiden, Germany. You might notice that the jeep even has the old ribbed R/C car tires. In fact this 1:1 scale model is true to the original model in almost every detail. Yes, that includes the giant Acoms radio control, though it’s not clear if it’s actually functional or just for show.

This would be a whole lot of fun to play with and this model is very good for popping wheelies too.
