Gingerbread Wookiee: So That’s Why They Call Him Chewy

We’ve seen lots of geeky gingerbread treats, but none so tough as this gingerbread Wookiee. Let them win at games or they will rip your arm out of its socket. Eat a gingerbread Wookiee and they will likely punch you in the gut from the inside.

This tasty gingerbread version of Chewbacca comes from Craftster member kala who does a great job making fine wookie hair and makes a mean bandoleer. It may not be as impressive as a Death Star gingerbread treat, but this guy is pretty darn cute and probably just as tasty.

This is why they call him Chewie, people! I like the eyes, but don’t want him to look at me when I bite into him.

Gingerbread Optimus Prime: Sugar in Disguise

I can never decide which side I’m on. Autobots or Decepticons. This amazing gingerbread Optimus Prime has swayed me. It was made by a friend of a friend of Redditor downvotedagain.

We don’t know much about this amazing holiday treat. Not even if this girl is the one who made it. None of that matters. All that matters is that this is a thing. A really awesome thing I would like to admire and then eat. The detail is really nice and he looks like he could hold his own in an all out gingerbread robot fight. Oh yeah. I break me off a piece of that robot and serve it up with a nice cold glass of milk. It would probably take a month to eat this thing.

No icing though. That might be a deal breaker. Gotta have icing on your gingerbread robots.

Gingerbread Death Star: The Empire Bites Back

This awesome gingerbread Death Star is the ultimate power in the universe. The tastiest too. In fact, it recently won a gingerbread house-building tournament at The Swedish Centre for Architecture in Stockholm, Sweden. It comes from Redditor Sillstryparn.

This is the second Death Star as you can see. The first was obviously destroyed by snowmen piloting X-wing fighters made from candy canes.

This spicy space station took 12 people to build it and it is made out of about 1,200 cookies. The creator says that it took friendship, cooperation and sense of purpose to create this special project. It was seen as a “metaphor in the challenge to all the world’s people must practice love for each other to maintain and build up our planet.” That’s a nice sentiment, but I just need to know where I can get a tall glass of milk so I can get started on this thing.

Doctor Who/Sherlock Gingerbread TARDIS: Merry Moffat

This is the confectionery crossover that has so far eluded us on the TV screen. The Doctor and the Detective together at last. Both shows are headed by Steven Moffat, both characters are equally crazy and brilliant, and now they are a part of the same Christmas treat.

It looks like the TARDIS is not only bigger on the inside, but it also now bears Holmes’ address. 221 B. Baker Street on its side. This awesome gingerbread house was created by Twitter user Wholock. Get the name? I would have gone with Doctor Holmes myself, but it’s clever.

Two great shows, one great treat. Looks like these roommates enter through different doors. This is a show I would love to see.

World’s Largest Gingerbread Village Looks Delicious

Forget the world’s largest gingerbread house. We have all heard the phrase “It takes a village” and a gingerbread village is exactly what we have here. It is on display at Texas A&M University. Let’s all crash the party. Gingerbread houses for everyone.

The world’s largest gingerbread village was created by New York Chef Jon Lovitch. This village consists of 152 houses and 65 trees and weighs over 1.5 tons. It is made up of 500 pounds of gingerbread, 400 pounds of candy and 2,240 pounds of icing. That’s enough to give everyone who even looks at it a stomach ache.

It cost a few thousand dollars to complete, but it is now in the Guinness Book of World Records, so it was well worth it. It is too neat to eat, and anyway where would you start?

Merry Christ-meth: Breaking Bad Gingerbread House

This time of year everybody is cooking. Well, sure, some of us are cooking in the kitchen and others are cooking in RVs, but one thing we can all cook up are cool gingerbread treats. Like this one. This is an awesome gingerbread homage to Breaking Bad.

This creation looks adorable and it comes from the Sugar Plum Cake Shop.  There’s Walt and Jesse with their Winnebago meth lab, a bag of blue meth and even a snowman DEA agent that is roughly the same shape as Hank. It’s pretty sweet. I mean literally.

It even has cotton candy fumes coming from the RV. Nice touch. It is too neat to eat.

Gingerbread AT-AT Plays Reindeer Games

At Christmas time everyone loves to wear those antler headbands, even AT-ATs. This awesome gingerbread creation captures an Imperial Walker getting in the holiday spirit. And a little snowspeeder too. I would love to wrap some tow cables around it’s legs and trip it into my hungry and waiting cartoon mouth. Nom nom nom.

This beautiful sculptural treat was made by Magnolia Hotel & Spa in Victoria, Canada. More specifically their hotel restaurant Catalano has created this gingerbread masterpiece for the Canadian National Gingerbread Showcase in partnership with Habitat for Humanity Victoria.

The best part is the red nose. You can almost see other AT-AT Reindeer not letting him join in on their AT-AT Reindeer games. Awesome job guys and gals.

BLU Products launches trio of new Dash smartphones starting at $49

Too thrifty to buy a $199 Nexus 4, or even a $99 Lumia 520? BLU Products has you covered with three new smartphones in its Dash range. The line starts with the Dash Jr., a 3.5-inch dual-SIM phone that costs just $49 unlocked — cheap enough that we (almost) don’t mind its single-core Spreadtrum processor, 2G-only data, 2-megapixel camera and Android 2.3. If you can afford to splurge, the Dash Music 4.0 ($99) and Dash 5.0 ($129) jump to their namesake larger screens, 3G data, dual-core MediaTek chips, higher-resolution cameras and Android 4.2. BLU expects all three Dash handsets to ship before the end of September, so penny pinchers won’t have long to wait. Check out press shots of the Dash Music 4.0 and Dash 5.0 after the break.
