I’m all giggly and giddy because I’m so close to the moment next week when I can plunk down my dollars for an iPhone 5S in shimmering gold. I’m holding out for it. You might think it’s tacky, or gaudy, or absurd. But I knew the moment I saw it that it’s the iPhone I deserve.

You see, the goldpagne iPhone 5S wasn’t designed in Cupertino. No, no, no. It was made by a team outside of Apple located in Miami Beach! By the same guys who wears shiny shirts, gold chains, sunglasses indoors and more rings than fingers. Duh. That makes so much more sense.

Go on, reject the notion. Work yourself into a tizzy. Then, grab an Orange Crush and a bag chair, ’cause you’re going to need some serious support to handle the realization. The gold iPhone is coming, and it’ll be launched during Apple’s upcoming event on September 10th. As AllThingsD reports, a new flagship iPhone will be unveiled with an “elegant gold tone,” which is said to be more like champagne in actuality. If the rumors prove true, we should see a white face with a gilded rear… which will never be seen by anyone once you strap a case on it. Best of all? We’re sensing a golden opportunity for Macklemore to score a product placement promotion in a future music video.

Full disclosure: We’ve been seeing the gold iPhone rumors for weeks now, but have largely been brushing them aside. Fake Apple rumors are as easy to come by as tangled EarPod cords this close to a new product launch, and this one in particular seemed too outlandish, too… tacky. But gold iPhone reports have reached that saturation point—even AllThingsD is confirming— where they can’t be ignored anymore. Especially considering how much sense it all makes.
